I read about this place on someones food blog. i forget where.

I went for the Mixed Chicken Innards Congee. aka 雞什粥 .

I was very surprised to be immediately handed an english menu. So fear not fellow no-chinese speaking people. You don't have to memorize, or write down characters before coming. (and the menu seems to be fully translated, no hidden items as far as i could tell).

The congee was quite tasty. Very creamy, it didn't seem to separate too much as i slowly ate it. The peanuts were salty. They put a little bit of pickled veggies in it, (and apparently you can get more, and of a different variety if you ask, as the girl next to me did). There was intestines, liver, and at least 2 other "parts", as well as two small pieces of white meat on the bone (which was quite tasty.... fresh chickens? don't know.)

I'm still not a huge fan of liver of any animal.... not there fault that i keep trying.

The congee had real nice chicken flavor, and some of the yellow pieces of stuff were oily, so that added some tasty chicken oil... not enough to feel oily though, just a few drops.
If they use msg, which i assume everyone does, it must have been a reasonably small amount, as i don't have any headache.

I didn't eat them, but the cheung fun are pre-made (like most places i suppose), but seem to be in a large portion, filled with a large portion of ingredients. no skimping.... at least for whatever my neighbor ordered.

The ladies working there were quite nice after i ordered my lemon tea in chinese. i've noticed that even the smallest amount of effort on my part is almost always rewarded with an instantaneous change in behavior.

its open to midnight apparently. i only wish i knew about this place 8 months ago.

i also like the places that let you sit on the sidewalk if that is your cup of tea. it's not mine, most of the time, but i like options.

chopsticks no stickier than you'd expect. so i'd say they are fairly clean for this style restaurant.
