Long has Lung Fung Cafe opened in Tai hang and knowing it is opened by a local comedian/ actor, I was never interested in dining there. I had heard some bad comments about the Cha Chaan Tan but I never listen unless I try it myself. Judging from the photos hanging from the windows outside the Cha Chaan Teng, even it was absolutely empty at 8.30pm on a Sunday night, we went in without concerned.

The Cha Chaan Teng setup is a reminiscent of Bing Sut at old times. The whole cha chaan teng was very yellowish from the dim lighting and the small colourful yellow and orange tiles at the walls.

Iced Pineapple Soda
You can add HKD15 onto your set dinner for this enormous Iced Pineapple Soda. It was fully loaded with sweet pineapples on top of icy soda and pineapple juice. It was too sweet for my liking.

Spam Sandwich with Scramble Egg and Caviar
A very drooling looking dish with smooth scramble eggs and thick spam sandwich on top of steamingly hot rice. The thick sliced spam was perfectly fried to give a golden brown skin with crispy texture. The scramble egg was very smooth but was bland and lack of egg taste. The caviar just served the look purpose and did not really make a taste difference to the dish. The pretty drizzled soy sauce could not satisfy us and we asked for more soy sauce. This is not an excellent but acceptable comforting dish.

Beef Curry Rice
The dish arrived with drooling curry aroma. The curry sauce was rich, intense and flavourful! The beef had a strong taste of the curry sauce but it was not in consistent quality. Some of them were pretty tender and yum, while some were extremely hard to chew.

Hungry as I was, I could not wait and pour part of the curry sauce over the rice to dig in. Then I found out the rice was warm but they were all stick together like they was refrigerated overnight. I complained this to the waitress and the chef replied all their rice was like that. (My immediately thought was: REALLY? The rice on the spam dish does not taste like that.) Anyway they offered us spaghetti in return. After two minutes, I heard a crystal clear sound "ding" from the kitchen, I looked over and found my spaghetti ready to be served. Great...they microwaved food.
Boiled Broccoli
The boiled broccoli was fine, I hope they did not microwave this as well...

It was quite unpleasant knowing a restaurant serves overnight rice and microwave food upon order. That probably explains why there was no one at the restaurant when we went for dinner at 8.30pm on a Sunday night. No wonder my mom gets suspicious at a restaurant everytime when she saw no customer at a restaurant during dining hours, next time I should remember it might hint something.
