Petite Amanda has been so popular since it's opening. Every review about it was positive, and it's been all over the media about the success of the shop. Moreover, I've admired Amanda S. for so long, I of course wouldn't want to miss a thing about this shop.A friend accompanied me here to try the food. We skipped lunch and came here directly. The cake shelf was empty already at that time. We then had croissants and a brioche mini first and decided to sit down and wait til 15:15 for the desserts.

The croissants were marvelous, only that it would've been even better if it's warm. The outside of the croissant was kind of crispy but the inside was so fluffy. I also really enjoyed the mild buttery aroma from it, it was just right for me, not so heavy but still with great aroma. Brioche ain't really common in Hong Kong as I know, and I don't know how to determine if it's of a great quality or so. For my personal opinion, the cake-like texture of the bread was a delight to have. I enjoyed how fluffy it was inside again. However, as same as the croissants, I wished it was warmer and I bet it will be more aromatic then.
As it wasn't time yet for the desserts to come out, we ate slowly and sat and waited, but you just kind of crave for some bites to have during the wait, so we bought a can of cookies as well.

We bought chocolate chip cookies. Merely the cookies might sound ordinary, but I think the cookies here were amazing. What's so stunning about them was that when you open the container and plastic bag, you can still smell the freshly baked aroma. They were not kept in ovens before selling like those at Mrs Fields, they were already packed in a plastic bag and into a container. Therefore, I was kind of amazed when I smelled that aroma after I opened it. The texture of the cookies were great as well. It's crunchy on the outside, and a soft chewy texture at the inside, and this texture normally cannot be attained after the cookies were being cooled down for long, that's why I admire the cookies so much. In addition, the cookies are of great value too. One can contains 10 pieces of cookies, and with that great quality, it costs only $47.
It was about three already when we finished the can of cookies, and we saw people starting to queue for the desserts, even if the dessert shelf wasn't ready yet. We queued up as well, and Amanda S was there helping. Needless to say she looks absolutely gorgeous, with that delicate structure of her face and a tall and thin body figure, and a really friendly personality as well. What I appreciated so much was that she insisted on doing the work herself. She insisted helping, organizing, and serving by herself. You can feel her passion towards this business, how sincere she was in serving you, and how much heart she'd poured into to learn making all the desserts and in starting the business. She arranged the desserts nicely and orderly onto the dessert shelf herself. The shelf was filled with colorful desserts very soon. It was really delightful to see such a colorful dessert shelf in front of you.

After queuing for a while, we picked four desserts to try. Before reviewing the desserts, I would want to mention about the special design of the paper plate which makes it convenient for people to hold them. Firstly I think it's a very smart design; secondly, I think it's really considerate of Amanda to have thought of this. Also, when we returned to our seats, we were told to eat two of the four desserts first since they were light desserts and later the other two which were heavier. It was just a little reminder but I really appreciated it. I can feel their sincerity in serving you and assuring you an enjoyable dining experience.
Back to the desserts, the first one was Charlotte Aux Poires. I've read various reviews and most of them kind of highly recommend this dessert. It is a pity that I don't eat any fruity things. My friend said it was a really refreshing and light dessert, and was absolutely marvelous. With all the other positive reviews from other people, I am quite sure this dessert is indeed of a high quality and can be said as a specialty of the shop.

The second one we had was the Mille Feuill. This dessert was all about pastries and custard. I bet it kind of sounded unbelievable that it was recommended to eat first since it was lighter? At least I had my doubts at first, but after I had a few bites, I was stunned by the dessert. It was so surprising that it didn't taste heavy at all, in fact it was light, but not as light as those that get tasteless, it still remained a great taste. The dessert may not look as delicate as the others on the display, but I think this was one of the best desserts made here.

Moving on to the heavier desserts. The Plasir Sucre has a great texture. Each layer gives a different texture and it was sensational to eat it. However, I think some darker chocolates can be used in a few layers, so as to give rise to another texture and sensation by the various types of chocolate used.

Last but not least, the Brisilene. Among the four desserts, I think this desserts tasted the least surprising. However, I can't help appreciating all the delicate work behind in the creation of this dessert.

Think it's merely a coffee cake with mousse on top? You're wrong then. There are actually two layers of mousse, the upper layer is caramel mousse and the lower layer is the coffee mousse. The lower coffee mousse was wrapped with a very thin layer of coffee-chocolate sponge cake. Such work involves great patience and techniques, and I absolutely appreciate all the work behind.

It was pretty satisfying after finishing the desserts, and some bread and pastries and cookies beforehand as well. To round up such pleasurable dining experience, I had a cup of coffee. I bought cafe latte, and the milk used here is organic milk. The coffee was indeed a great round up. I loved the texture of the coffee, and the milk, no matter in taste or in texture, was perfect.
When you crave for some light bites and light desserts, this place is a great option to consider.
