Traditional Peking dishes
Reminiscent of an ancient family courtyard in one of Peking's fast disappearing hutongs (courtyard houses set between narrow lanes), Hutong’s interiors are set against the most breathtaking skyline of any international metropolis. This is not the only surprise. The sense of adventure and sheer avant-garde creativity continues in the innovating cuisine inspired by the culinary styles of Peking and Shandong province.

Hutong
Dramatic and intriguing, Hutong combines antique-studded interiors, inspired by the hutongs – or alleyways - of Old China, with elaborately carved stone archways, antique metal-studded wooden doors, billowing silk curtains, carved wooden screens and delicate rickshaws.

(2015-08-10) 8 signature dishes for 4+ Hutong’s delicious Northern Chinese Early Dinner Banquet menu includes signatures, De-boned lamb ribs and fiery Red Lantern crispy soft-shell crab. Enjoy 8-dishes for HK$418 + 10% per person, with a minimum 4 person booking. Reservations are available for 6:00pm or 6:30p... more

We had the brunch at Hutong last Sunday to celebrate my hubby's birthday. It was not just a big disappointment but a complete rip-off. Not only very few buffet dishes were offered - All dishes were made of cheap ingredients and none of them were skillful dishes. Here were the selections : 5 different types of steamed buns/dumplings -same stuffing pretty much, minced pork with veg, veg only or plain. 3 cold dishes : pickled cucumbers, soy sauced gluten and plain shr...

I bumped into a friend whom I have not seen for a long time in Hong Kong and asked me to join lunch with him at Hutong. Not being familiar with the restaurant, I quickly made an internet search to find out about the menu and of course, prices.  He said that Hutong is his favorite restaurant because of the view from the 28/F where it is located. He did not mention the food so that was quite foreboding. But when he said it will be his treat, I did not complain anymore.  And bec...

Our "Abundant Flavour Brunch" commenced with the opening of a bottle of Veuve Clicquot - to me the perfect start of a perfect meal. First, the staff explained to us the different stations of this truly abundant buffet. I was eager to tuck in and decided to first sample the fish and tofu soup, which was mild but flavourful and while being perfectly light, the different ingredients offered a range of textures to give this soup some unexpected complexity that I liked a lot. My frie...

I love Hutong! I've been there three times total, every time someone from abroad visits me. Maybe I like it so much because it is indeed Chinese food suitable for Westerners. Everyone has loved it so far! Service is excellent, they help you choose and make adjustments to the food if you wish (e.g.: my friends didn't like pork, so they made the dumplings with cabbage and lamb instead). The atmosphere is fabulous, nice decoration, killer view.  I made a reservation two day...

Reservation: Called at 09:10pm for a reservation for 09:30pm. No table available until 10:00pm + window seating not available. Over the phone I was told that minimum charge per head was 400 HK$. I reserved as I was curious and craving for some propper "ma la" food. When we walked in at 10:00 there were plenty of tables available and even plenty of tables at the windows. Unless all reservations were called off it seems like everything that was told over the phone was jus...

4 seat table was booked in advance. No need to wait, we were seated immediately. Decor was great, refined and the sea view was impressive with large windows. Bathroom is well decorated too. Service was good too. Waiters/waitresses are polite an don't have an attitude. The food is spicy and numbing depending on which dish you take. All dishes we tried were very tasty. Expect big bowls filled at 80% with chili. Good variety and choice of dishes, although very few non-spicy. ...

lollollollollol I love this restaurant! I love having tourists visit me because it gives me an excuse to go here. The food is so good. I think we come here 3 times a year. Most restaurants in HK completely lack attention to ambiance, mood and the overall dining experience. Hutong gets it. They don't pretend to be a fine dining restaurant, the waiters leave you alone after you get your food. I think it is understood that the items you are ordering are just regular, common fare, but mo...

Dined here with friends as one of our friends was leaving HK and wanted to try it. Started with the spicey cucumber salad which was nice and refreshing. We had pre-ordered the beggar chicken which was tasty and moist but unfortunately one of our party couldn't eat it as it has pork. Our waitress was helpful as we requested that the green beans and minced pork be changed to minced beef so our friend could eat it. The boneless lamb ribs were excellent. We also had a great tenderl...

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful night in Hu Tong. Our favourite dish of the night was 京城羊肉. It was tender, juicy with right amount of lamb taste (not too "so"), the top layer was very crispy! We would highly recommend this dish! The portion is also very big, each of us had 3 pieces! The lamb also went well with the garic sauceand onion that came with. After the tremendous 京城羊肉. We had 蜜汁火方. It was also the best 蜜汁火方 we had ever tried, the ham was ...

Oy my goodness. I hadnt seen my sister for more than 20 years. I took her to Hu Tong for a special reunion dinner. And what happened? The staff keep interrupting our conversation every 15 minutes, pushing pushing pushing. madmadmadmad Even taking away dishes before we were finished! They obviously wanted us to get out of the restaurant as soon as posible. How can they run a business like this? They clearly depend on tourists who go there once and will never go back, because obvious...
