Umegaoka Sushi No Midori Souhonten is a chain of sushi restaurants in Japan known for its low cost yet value for money meals. But boyfriend told me it was a lot more expensive here and he heard it wasn't as good.Well ... as I have long realized, restaurants in Hong Kong are more expensive than their counterparts in other parts of the world and the quality is never as good. With extreme low expectations and as I was by myself, I decided to just give it a try and see for myself.Located in Mong Kok, the restaurant was  fairly quiet for lunch time. Seating was spacious.They had a lunch set menu. Menu is in English, Japanese and Chinese.  Ordering is done by scanning the QR code that is in English and Chinese.Sets include a chawanmushi and miso soup. The chawanmushi was ok. There was a slice of shitake mushroom and some chicken meat. The miso soup was alright and just your typical miso soup.I ordered the chirashi rice bowl and udon set ($108). The udon was a decent portion and not over cooked.. The soup was not too salty and rich in taste.For the rice bowl, you have three choices. I chose the Crab and Scallop. Though the bowl was small, they didn't skimp on the toppings. Lots of crab meat and there was a fairly fresh scallop sashimi with some salmon roe on top.  The rice was seasoned with sushi vinegar as well.Digging inside, the middle portion had pieces of chopped tamagoyaki. I didn't expect that as all the places I've had chirashi it's just rice with the topping and nothing else.Over all, the food was not as bad as people say. Is it more expensive that Japan? Yes. But for Hong Kong, it's fairly reasonable and not that expensive for Japanese. Service is both good and  bad. The person at the front was a bit nonchalent and bored. But the woman who brought me my meal was wonderfully nice and constantly refilled my tea. Nonstop. I guess some staff care and some ... don't. I'd be back. 繼續閱讀

在恒隆商場(雅蘭中心) 的美登利餐廳裝潢和日本大致一樣,沒什麼分別但個特級玉子壽司價值為HK$38元, 在店上和日本東京店一比原來只售日元200, (港元10多), 差3.8倍建議大家去日本時一定要光顧味道和其他壽司店差不多,但要一提, 當另一枱客人走後, 服務員清潔枱上東西. 竟然用手打枱上污物掃落地上. 一間壽司怎可能這樣, 幸好食後沒有肚痛環境尚可, 但服務一般 繼續閱讀

一坐已經係中伏,隔離枱全程大聲極度騷擾,職員完全唔理。餐牌一睇又伏,刺身5片接近200-碟,火鍋188。又話需時20分鐘,终於等左35分鐘,食物全部平價,黄芽白,菇,豆腐,兩件雞,兩件三文魚,迷你带子硬實冇味,蝦直頭係散,烸爛嘅。 繼續閱讀

美登利在初來香港時, 風頭甚為厲害, 但在開會了三家分店後, 勢頭不如其他過江龍, 例如是較便宜的壽司郎, 也因為價格定位的關係, 被後者比下去, 午市時間來到, 人潮較疏落, 和附近的有差距. 大約二百多元的壽司套餐, 刺身質素僅僅OK, 沒有海膽就差了一點, 壽司飯調得較酸, 口感偏實. 刺身質素沒有太多問題, 只是選擇偏少, 而且在沒有拖羅, 只有赤身的情況下, 最好最吸引的就是鮮蝦魚子醬, 鮮味夠濃. 整體來說, 有一種泯然眾人矣的慨嘆.When Midori first arrived in Hong Kong, it was very popular, but after opening three branch stores, its momentum was not as strong as other big players, such as the more affordable Sushiro. Due to its pricing strategy, Midori was overshadowed. During lunchtime, the crowd was sparse compared to nearby restaurants. The sushi set, priced at around HKD 200, had average sashimi quality and lacked sea urchin, which was a bit disappointing. The sushi rice was slightly sour and had a solid texture. While the sashimi quality was not a major issue, the selection was limited. The most attractive option, especially without toro, was the fresh shrimp with fish roe, which had a rich flavor. 見到呢間壽司店出左388蚊+1就可以食到放題,見上網睇圖都唔錯,就黎左試第一轉既刺身同壽司非常新鮮,本身對佢仲有幾高既期望但之後既壽司新鮮情況明顯下降,其實我冇expect佢會差咁多,睇圖未必見到,但帶子明顯地係差好遠,希望佢地可以改善下壽司既新鮮度,至少唔會第一轉同之後落單既分別太大 繼續閱讀
