My mother-in-law has been working in Kwun Tong area for several years, thus she will know any good food around that vicinity. She recommended us to try this dim sum restaurant at Kwun Tong as it served quality dim sum at an affordable pricing. The Graces restaurant has 3 branches in Hong Kong. When we reached shortly after 11am on Friday, we were quite surprised to see that the place was almost full even on a weekday. The restaurant was huge, by Hong Kong standard. When we reached shortly after 11am on Friday, we were quite surprised to see that the place was almost full even on a weekday. The restaurant was huge, by Hong Kong standard. Without waiting for very long, we were assigned a table by ourselves.
The price of dim sum was categorized into 3 timing: morning (8am-12pm), noon (12pm-2pm) & noon tea (2pm-430pm). There are also 5 different pricing for dim sum as well, quite common in Hong Kong. After 1030am, they do sell their full range of dishes.
Mapo Tofu – There is a lot of ingredients used in this dish. It consists of tofu, mushrooms and some veggies. It was a pity that we did not order any rice as the gravy will go well nicely with the rice. Tofu has thoroughly absorbed those sauce into it and it taste soft and delicious.
Roasted Goose – It was ok at best. The meat was tender and soft, but the skin was not crispy enough. It was also too oily as well.
Wolfberry and osmanthus jelly – The size of each piece was generally bigger than those I have eaten at typical dim sum houses. Jelly was slightly tougher, but as a whole the taste was sweet with a slight scent of herbs.
Shrimp with XO sauce rice noodle roll – Portion was quite generous and the texture of it was soft as well. Shrimp was spread on top of the roll instead of stuffing them inside the roll. I prefer the shrimp to be inside the roll as I could not taste much shrimp when I need to separately pick out those shrimp.
