We were a group of 15 and arrived at the restaurant at 12:45pm on a weekday. Each of us ordered a set lunch with a starter, a main dish and a drink/dessert. While the starters were served at 1:09pm, all main dishes came at 1:42pm (I took photos of the food so the time was recorded). We were a group of 15 and arrived at the restaurant at 12:45pm on a weekday. Each of us ordered a set lunch with a starter, a main dish and a drink/dessert. While the starters were served at 1:09pm, all main dishes came at 1:42pm (I took photos of the food so the time was recorded). It was almost an hour wait for the main dishes and dessert.


In fact, we all needed to head back to office to attend a meeting at 2pm. During the wait, we expressed our concern to the waiters a couple of times, and one of them responded, “we want all the dishes to be served at the same time”, which sounded more like an excuse than a willingness to follow up. There was a lady sitting nearby, who came later than us but her lunch was served long before ours. There was no update at all from the waiters about whether the dishes were being cooked or not. So all of us just waited, and started to worry whether we could finish the meal and be on time for the meeting.


In the end, we barely had 10 minutes to rush through our meals. And worse, some of us were not able to finish it and needed to take away the remaining. We were puzzled that a dish like the lamb stew with bread, which was supposed to have been cooked in a big pot, took an hour to be served. The waiters passed us the take-away boxes and their attitude was rather cold and unapologetic. In the end, we were late for the meeting and some of us were only able to finish the lunch after 4pm.


We were willing to pay around 200 dollars just to enjoy a good lunch, but in the end what we got was an anxious mood, an unfulfilled stomach and dissatisfaction of the service. I think for restaurants with a mid-price range, customer service is of paramount importance. Even though the food was not bad, there surely won’t be another chance for us to come again.
