I was very excited when I found out that a newer Winstons location had opened in Kennedy Town, as I had previously frequented the Sai Ying Pun shop. This Winstons is quite a lot bigger, with a nice wrap around seating area that often fills up in the evening. Even though Winstons appears primarily as a coffee shop, personally I prefer coming here in the evening for drinks. The drinks menu consists of many unique cocktails, some of which are actually 'coffee themed'- they serve four different type
There is a reason why Winstons is heavily featured on Instagram; it is because every small detail has been carefully considered, from the design of the shop to the presentation of the drinks. The staff have been very creative with their table numbers- they give out cassette tapes instead of an actual number card. Some of the staff are probably too young to have ever used a cassette tape, so it is always entertaining to be handed one by them.
All drinks are served and presented beautifully; coffee with a signature rosetta, cocktails with a range of garnishes. A standout cocktail is the Coffee meets Mezcal, which is served with a bright red chili on the side of the glass! However, my go to cocktail would have to be the whiskey sweet and sour. It tastes great and goes down really fast! I normally follow with a gin and tonic, which is actually made with tonic syrup rather than tonic water. In my opinion, it makes the drink much more delicious. I would recommend to anyone to come in to Winstons and try as many cocktails as possible.
Finally, I must mention that the staff at Winstons are truly the highlight of the experience here. They are always polite, outgoing and willing to stop for a chat. Often, they go above and beyond to ensure all customers have an enjoyable time when in the shop. This level of service is quite rare in Hong Kong and so it is always refreshing. I reckon the staff are the reason this place has so many regulars!
All in all, I would highly recommend Winstons to anyone. Stop in for a late afternoon coffee, and stay for a few drinks. You won't be disappointed!
