Cocktail - Drug Mule & Fidelity
I can't help but to check out Fatty Crab's Cocktail list in details because of their interesting names and ingredients. Created by the Crew's own mixologist, Phillip Ward, I am impressed with the list. Drug Mule is a refreshing cocktail with fuji apple infused vodka, house made fresh ginger syrup and lime juice. I love the ginger taste in this cocktail which made the drink more delicate and brought more depth to the drink. The Fidelity is another yummy cocktail with cuban rum, fresh lime juice, Yellow Chartreuse and thai basil. Smoked Jalan Alor Chicken Wings
The chicken wings were a bit too sweet for my liking, perhaps an over used of kebab manis (ABC Sauce)? Judging from the appearancem, I was also expecting crispier skin . I see a dish to improve. Fatty Sliders
The fatty slider was one of my favourite of the night. The beef patty was nicely spiced with the sambas aioli - try imagine the taste of the green chilli paste to go with the taco crisps when you dine in Indonesian restaurant. The pickled cucumber was crispy and went really well with the burger. The slider was great but I would love to have the beef patty slightly juicer. Chili Crab
Not until we picked up the Dungeness crab with the leg, we found it surprisingly huge. As chatted with William, the manager, perhaps they could use a flatter and shallower plate to present the crab flat. The Dungeness crab was very meaty and sweet, but with only a little mustard in it. The crab chilli sauce was really yummy, it's was so good with the Pullman toast! Basically I can have the chilli sauce with anything, bread, rice, pasta or simply spoon it! Having said that, I still think the sweetness should bring down a bit, and that will make the dish perfect! Also may be a bit spicier? Since now it is more like a sweet crab than chilli crab. The fatty duck was not a bad dish. The duck was very flavourful with the spices, but was very hard to chewy. Also there was bones attached with the duck pieces, making it extremely hard to eat it with utensils. Use your hand with this duck dish! Nasi Lemak
The chicken curry did not taste too exciting for me. The chicken was tender but the curry sauce was too weak for me. The slow poached egg was nicely done but the coconut rice that comes with the dish was much mushier than the bowl we ordered separately. Watermelon Pickle and Crispy Pork
This dish is heavenly Delish! The pork belly was extremely crispy on the skin, with palate dissolving fat in between the layers of tender meat! The watermelon and other pickles were very refreshing as well. I love this dish!!!! This pork belly made into my top 3 pork belly list, and is a MUST TRY here. Steamed Clams
This is another excellent dish here at Fatty Crab. The clams were fresh and sweet, the green chili sauce was mildly spicy with lots of flavours in it. There was also crab meats in the sauce. Yum! Coconut Rice
We ordered a separate bowl of coconut rice and found the rice more dry and less mushy than the ones complimented in the mains. It was a great pair with the green chilli sauce from the steamed clams!
Dessert - Egg Custard
Dessert time comes this lovely semi-sweet egg custard on the left and salty custard on the right. The coconut cream as well as the coconut flakes were nice but i found the fried shallot tasted a bit funny with the dish. Coconut Durian Panna Cotta
Our beautiful waitress got this Durian Panna Cotta for us for free to let us try it. No one actually likes durian on the table but I found this panna cotta irresistible!!! The durian taste was very strong but it also tasted very milky and smooth! I think the milky taste paired extremely well with the Durians and seriously good job doing this Panna Cotta. The only bad thing on this dish was the mango which tasted very sour. Grandly opened only two weeks, Fatty Crabs is still on the way to improve their food as well as the consistency of service. Our main waitress was really nice and helpful, knowing everything on the menu and always carries a big smile with her. One other female waitress was quite lost most of the time and another dreadful male waitress which was rather rude to us. Overall the dining experience was really nice in Fatty Crab, we had loads of fun. Just one final word to anyone who wants to dine in Fatty Crab - they don't take reservation and all parties has to be present to get seated. So go early and don't be late!
