This is the first review I've ever written on OpenRice, and I've done it only because I've never ever had an experience in Hong Kong that was more disappointing than this one. I made a reservation one week ahead at this restaurant for a brunch with my wife and my 4 year-old daughter on the Christmas Eve. This is the first review I've ever written on OpenRice, and I've done it only because I've never ever had an experience in Hong Kong that was more disappointing than this one. 

I made a reservation one week ahead at this restaurant for a brunch with my wife and my 4 year-old daughter on the Christmas Eve. When we arrived at the restaurant, probably 10 mins earlier than our booking time, we were told by the receptionist that they were too busy to seat us at the moment and asked us to come back later, which I could certainly understand. What I couldn't understand was what happened next, which led to my extreme disappointment. So we took a walk in the IFC mall and came back again on time. The receptionist then led us to a tiny table right next to the kitchen where all the waiters and waitresses kept passing by with either hot dishes or dirty plates on their hands. I've expressed my concern about my daughter's safety to the receptionist and asked her if we could take the other empty table besides us which was more quiet and more spacious. However, we got rejected by the receptionist for the reason that we had only 3 people while there was another group of 4 people coming, and guess what, just a few minutes later, another group of 3 people was seated at that table!!! Excuse me???!!! I couldn't hold my disappointment and asked to speak with the manager, but all I got was just a simple sorry that he will investigate and nothing else. 

In addition, we spent over 2400+ HKD on our lunch for 5 dishes, and I have to say that the quality of their food was just on average but certainly overpriced. The only two dishes I could give my compliments to were the black truffle pasta and the raw oysters. The beef tenderloin I ordered was overcooked and served on a cold plate (I asked for medium rare but it was nearly well done), and it was chewy like a gum. I only had two bites on the steak and was too disappointed to even bother asking them to replace it. We ended up with asking for the bill without finishing our meal. 

What's more funny was that on the following day I received a courtesy email from the Isola team saying that they hoped us have enjoyed our experience and asked us for feedback. I replied with my comments and, just same as another guest wrote in his/her review,  my email was also bounced back, too, because this email address could not be found or is unable to receive mail. Dear Isola team, please stop sending out email like this if you really don't want to hear from your customers. Good luck.
