I don't go to western district often except when I go to a new tapas place which opened in the same area early this year. I heard that there was an Indian restaurant near Catchick Street serving authentic Indian dishes, so I went.It was a Saturday evening, when I arrived at the restaurant, it was half-full. The restaurant is not big, I think it has approximately 45 seats or so. Decorations are more or less like those traditional Indian restaurants that I have seen on the streets in India. Accord

I don't go to western district often except when I go to a new tapas place which opened in the same area early this year. I heard that there was an Indian restaurant near Catchick Street serving authentic Indian dishes, so I went.
It was a Saturday evening, when I arrived at the restaurant, it was half-full. The restaurant is not big, I think it has approximately 45 seats or so. Decorations are more or less like those traditional Indian restaurants that I have seen on the streets in India. According to the size of the restaurant, the setting and layout are not squashed especially my partner and I got quite a spacious corner.
Going through the menu, my partner ordered a glass of red wine and I ordered a traditional mango lassi. For main dishes, we ordered Tandoori Chicken, Rogan Josh (Indian curried lamb), Baigan Bharat (mashed eggplant/brinjal) and Green Onion Naan.
Mango Lassi and red wine came in a short while and they went with a complimentary small basket of Masala Papadam and Punjabi Pokodas and two Indian chutneys: mango and mint. Both papadam and Punjabi pokodas were good especially when going with the chutneys.
Then Tandoori chicken came, a waiter served us and helped squeezing the lemon wedge onto the chicken pieces. Tandoori chicken was good too, meats were still tender.
Later on, Rogan Josh, Baigan Bharat and Green Onion Naan came. All of the dishes were good, but not as spicy as I have expected. I would suggest the chef to add some more Indian herbs into the dishes to make them more authentic. Maybe the restaurant has reduced the
amount of the spices and herbs they used to suit the taste of the Hong Kong people. Moreover, Baigan Bharat and naan were really good, but for Rogan Josh, i would like the lamb to be a bit more tender.
A round box of Indian candies was served at the end of the meal.
So far, the place was okay, the service was good, and the food was truly not bad, but could be better.
題外話/補充資料: No reservations on Saturdays and Sundays.
