I last came here with my friend last X'mas and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at Cafe on the 1st. However, this justification no longer applies after today.I came here today for a late lunch because of its comfy seating. The tea set was tempting at $118 but I decided to have something more filling instead. I came here today for a late lunch because of its comfy seating. The tea set was tempting at $118 but I decided to have something more filling instead. After all, it's almost 3pm and I still have a long day to go.
I picked a dish from its monthly specials which is called "Crispy pomfret, chili paste, French beans and chicken flavoured rice". I could not believe the quality at the 1st at gone so downhill. The dish was not hot at all when it was served, the chili paste was not very appetizing and the pomfret was far from crispy and even my domestic helper could do better than that.
As a hotel managed by The Peninsula, I would expect the service levels to be somewhat better than what I got today. For $168 not including drinks, I would have to seriously think twice before coming back again.
