Since we are waiting for our new domestic helper to arrive, we have been ordering take-out for dinner a lot. For tonight's dinner, I was thinking I haven't had xiao long baos for a while, so I asked my mom and my brother if they wanted Shanghainese food, and they were ok with it. Shanghai Lane is down the street from where I live, so I decided to order our dinner from there. For delivery, Shanghai Lane charges 10% service charge, but it's waived if you pick up the food yourself, so I opted to pick up the food.I got to the restaurant around 7:30pm and was a little surprised that it was about 80% full on a Wednesday night. Happy Valley restaurants tend to be slow on Wednesday nights due to the horse-racing.
This was one of the two tables that wasn't occupied when I got to the restaurant!
I placed my order and went to pick up a few things from the bakery, and my order was ready when I got back about 20 minutes later!
Between getting the food home, setting up the table, and taking photos of the food, the food did cool down a little bit, so it wasn't piping hot like it was when I grabbed the bag of take-outs.
