However touristy I may seem, I just can't hide the excitement after having my first craftbeer brewery visit in Hong Kong. Past visits to beer factory in Japan (eg. suntory, asahi) didn't intrigue me that much, partly because I treated them as sightseeing spots instead of restaurants that I could have a taste on its full-range menu items. Factories visited abroad do serve you beer for a cup or two, together with a pack of peanuts, but there are way more than that to be found at the Little Creatur

Interspersed with garages near the waterfront of Kennedy Town, such a crowd of customers standing outside the shop, chilling with a bottle of craft beer, surprised me. Lucky to have made reservation for a table of 3 (not a common thing to do for a drink but for dinner), we got seated quickly and were immediately amazed by how large the restaurant is. Its name doesn't suggest nor hint its size, but in fact as large as 5000 sq. feet large. Long wooden tables next to us were mostly with "reserved" signs, and later at around 8pm, they were really filled up, all of them.

Beer tanks were magnificent like giants to us, and the name "little creatures" were meant to be the tiny but important ingredients like hops, grain and yeast. These tanks aren't in reach by customers, but you can be assured that your orders are freshly filled from these tanks, in which fermenting process takes place.

Arriving at 630pm made you a glimpse of how lighting made an impact on the vibes. Light went a lot dimmer at around 7pm, and it started getting noisy as well after being fully housed!

Being absolutely a blank sheet on beer/alcohol won't make you a freak or idiot here, as servers and catalogues are like your guiders. We came for a happy-hour-cum-dinner gathering, thus a little bit of craft beer would be fine for eye-opening.

Ultimately, it was the comprehensive food menu that lured us here. The exuberant menu covers basically all categories of food for dinner, running the gamut from starters, pizzas, mains, small bites, and even desserts. Most of them don't sit at a high end of the price scale, though we turned out ordering quite a lot and boosting the menu to be at a cost higher than expected average. Spending around 3 hours here makes it worth the price!

Food came in a short while, with the beer paddle and grilled halloumi kicking start the evening.

This is a must-order item I would say, as it gave you not a sip but half a cup of craft beer of six kinds, including its signature bright ale and house brew. Looking at the total volume when comparing its price against single glass of a single type, this paddle wins!

Beer in glass was the best to be consumed immediately, for fear of losing its best taste in the best serving temperature. The paddles couldn't survive till the end of our 3-hour dinner, thus ordering other wines is a must.  Two of us got a red and white  (Argyle Grower Series 2013 Chardonnay, Oregon, USA $90; Petaluma Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, AUS $90), and another simply went for a glass of warm water.

A frequent salad consumer like me must have tried having halloumi in salad, but chance is really low. Couldn't explain how I missed halloumi amid all sorts of cheese, halloumi is my second favorite cheese following mozzarella. Fragrant and strong umami flavour was significant and assertive after grilling, which made it such a good match with beer.

Not an outstanding dish but to satisfy our seafood cravings. Oysters weren't large but fresh, bursting with divine marine goodness. This is the main item that boosted our bill, if you aren't ordering oysters, the cost could be a lot lower, as we ordered one dish each!

Slightly overpriced but its decadent gained itself marks again. Pork belly were roasted to perfection, in a mix of paprika slaw and red onions to become a tropical-feel dish. Wrapping the toppings in taco sheets, it hit the spot to be another flavourful match with beer other than the grilled halloumi.

Just to balance the seemingly-unhealthy diet, we got a dish of brussels sprouts in fried garlic pieces in an iron plate.

Three chunks of corn was served on a wooden plate, looking a bit weird as if flies all clustered around! Black spots were in fact toasted quinoa, sticking power of which was by salad dressing. Crunchy and savory but at the same time a bit sour, the taste was interesting but less salad dressing was preferred. Somehow a bit too greasy to have a mouthful of salad dressing, yet the original intention was to have clean sweetness of corn...

An up-to-standard dish of clams in white wine broth. I appreciated the thick, grilled slices of bread on top the most, which were in perfect balance of crisp and tenderness. Herbs and aroma of butter got the borth right, the unami flavour of which was further boosted by chopped chorizo.

Never imagined that a beer place serves such a hearty dessert, as you know, typical ones are just tiramisu, ice cream, cheesecake and so on. Caramelised pears rest on a perfectly fried pasty, and to my surprise, the scoop of ice cream in the middle was in pistachio flavour! Pistachio ice cream was definitely an elevated spin, but the pear tarte performed really well on its own. Caramel on top wasn't overpowering, but bringing up the aroma of pastry that was done just right.

Spending a splendid night there, what's next? Surprises hasn't yet stopped, when we found out that there was a menu exclusively for kids. Never had I seen a beer place being that kids and family-friendly, being able to host food lovers of all ages, and at all occasions (they serve lunch as well). Much more to learn for craft beer, much more to try for big gatherings, much eager to pay my second visit to this all-round birthplace of these great craftbeers brought all over from Australia to Hong Kong.
