i visited this café a few years back when it was still in Kwai Chung Plaza. it was then rather small and uncomfortable because of the noise around, the dim and whitish lighting and the lack of tables and chairs. but I could vaguely recall that the coffee was good and the café owners amiable and really passionate about coffee. and i really liked the romantic name of the café, soulmate. such was what that motivated me to visit the place once more – and am I glad I did. * * * * * *to be honest, th

to be honest, the place was a bit hard to find because one needed to walk into the car park of a factory to find the café next to the factory's management office.

though slightly turned off by the facade, i walked in... "Welcome!" i was immediately greeted by the smiling café keeper. deep breathe, and i smelt the nice aroma of coffee. and i felt like having entered another world of coziness and warmth.

there were already two men drinking coffee, who were old customers from Kwai Chung Plaza as i later found out. seated myself at one of the small tables. one of the two cafe owners (i remembered her face; she was nice) handed me the menu and i ordered a small cappuccino. she asked me if i wanted sugar in my coffee and thoughtfully explained that sugar could be added when the coffee was made so that i wouldn't have to add afterwards and ruin the latte art. "Ah! In that case, a little sugar please." then she waltzed off into the kitchen.

while waiting, i looked around the place, and i liked it.

appreciated the effort of the café owners in decorating the place; particularly the paintings.

soon my cappuccino arrived.

the latte art and the thick foam were happifying. the coffee bitter (in a good way) and a teeny bit sour, with traces of sweetness here and there (probably cos of the sugar added) which unfortunately sort of disrupted the equilibrium - no sugar next time for a fairer view. and though indoor, the yellow-orange-brown colour scheme reminded me of the beautiful sunshine out there. :*)

saw previous reviews about a chocolate truffle cake, which i thought greatly resembled starbucks's chocolate marquise cake. i didn't want to believe myself so i ordered one, and sadly, my starbucks-trained taste buds confirmed my suspicion. (in fact i asked before leaving and the café keeper told me that the cakes were not homemade.) let down slightly. well, will try the homemade light bites (sandwiches) next time.

still, i was drinking the coffee and eating the cake. and oldies/ jazz blues/ bossa novas were played, and suddenly there was diana krall's dream a little dream of me... and it all felt lovely. will definitely be back for coffee and sandwich!
題外話/補充資料: there were a lot of plugs, 4 as far as i could see (and i wasn't even looking for them). in view of the difficult location, i was a bit surprised when i saw quite some customers come in the place during my stay. (one was an old customer, the rest new.) and then i was happy, and i hoped that more people would come because a lovely café like this one deserves attention and definitely more customers. :)
