Happy hour with the gang, that slowly meandered into dinner. Not my usual haunt, since I’m not a fan of beer. Servers graciously accepted my repeat orders for NZ sauv blanc.The others had fun trying different local craft beers.Here’s what we had. Servers graciously accepted my repeat orders for NZ sauv blanc.
The others had fun trying different local craft beers.
Here’s what we had.
Cypress- and oak-smoked Baby Back Ribs brined in dashi, glazed in a black fermented BBQ sauce, topped with fresh shiso leaves. On the side: crispy lotus root chips protruding from a red fermented bean curd peanut purée. Chips tasted a bit funky- (maybe oil not too fresh).
Originally wanted to order the Smoked Skirt Steak, which was unfortunately sold out.

Shiitake, shimeji, and eringi mushrooms, deeply charred then glazed with a slightly spicy, savory salted egg emulsion. Served with focaccia.

Crunchy Wonton and Spring Roll skin served with sweet and sour dip with a fermented water chestnut tang; sesame-fermented lemon curd and vinegar chimichurri.

-tender Smoked Beef steak with fresh tomato and shiso
- Rich Pulled Pork with Chinese cucumber and fermented raw cabbage
- Pulled bincho-charred mushrooms with fermented bean mayo

Twice fried Fries made from Potatoes developed by Pierre Kohman, a 3-star Michelin French legend- Crispy outside, fluffy inside served with housemade XO mayo on the side :
-rich and grainy Salted Egg Yolk & smoked Cheese
-Typhoon Shelter style tossed in Chaozhou chili oil, loaded with shreds of sweet Japanese snow crab meat.

Unfortunately they didn’t do dessert- so we went for the next best thing- Death by Chocolate Stout, with notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, and cake batter; rich and velvety. Altho I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was the molten chocolate cake that you could sip, I would say that it was the perfect finish for our nite.

very nice decor, super knowledgable staff, the best Local craft beer in HK and the food is delicious!persona favourite is the hand cut 20 layer fries and the Pork Tenderloin with chorizo foam in garlic milk bread!  couldn't get eneough.

題外話/補充資料: price is reasonable for the quality and presentation! book in advance as not many seats in this place

最近去了接近Peel Street最高一段的YARDLEYS Cafe Bistro Bar,他們是本地精釀啤酒廠Yardley Brothers Craft Brewery 在香港島開的第一間Cafe Bistro Bar。佢地有14款啤酒任君選擇,當中包括10款Yardley Brothers 的啤酒, 2款Guest Tap的啤酒和2款香港比較少見的Real Ale/ Cask Ale。剛好飲到有啲餓,想叫個小食食下,跟住就問店員有什麼好推介,他就介紹了一個名為Layered Fries 的薯條給我。真係好好食!感覺上好似一款結合左薯條、薯餅及薯片在一身的小食!外脆內軟好神奇,仲要香港都真係好少見,之後問返位職員,原來係要好用心機、時間及手工來做的,他指出每一層的薯仔都是廚師人手批的,之後再要將唔同嘅薯仔層結合埋一齊,真係好好味,必試!

This place is such an important addition to the Hong Kong F&B scene at a time when it’s so needed. So yes, we’ve all heard of Yardley Brothers, but to have fresh beer being poured for you straight from the keg in Central, rather than the trip to Lamma Islnd is special. Do they do anything different from other bars? Hell yeah! How about arriving hot and sweaty from the Hong Kong afternoon and being provided with a frozen towel blessed with lemongrass. Fancy a snack? Try their very own biltong cradled in a tapioca shell that adds a cracking crunch to the initial bites and then it steps back allowing the supreme biltong to take centre stage…and then the beer. Pfff…it’s awesome. Sit and read a book. Relax and chat to the friendly bar staff. And if you like music…well…yeah…music with integrity is who the Yardley bros surround themselves with…it’s part and parcel to their life so you can be rest assured it’s none of that ‘silly-standard-bar-crap-blah-blah-what-the-hell-is-this-nonsense’ type stuff. It’s good…like their beer and their chef!

Am I giving it 5/5? No…though it does deserve it! So, why not? Well it gets packed pretty quickly which is great, but not unless you’re hoping to get a seat. However…what most people don’t know is the breeze that blows down the top of Peel Street towards the harbour is perhaps one of the delights of enjoying a catch up with friends. Stand up outside on the pavement and enjoy!

YARDLEYS is a great find! Fantastic drinks with staff who really know their stuff about beer. The food is delicious too and the whole place has a great atmosphere. We will be back!
