There isn’t a lot of good restaurant choices in the heart of Central, especially when you are within the web of HK Land buildings. This bistro replaced the old Can Teen but the decor of this place reminds me of a staff canteen but I know that it has given its best shot...Seatings are alright for business lunch but the air condition was WAY too strong. Service was very nice, menu choices are decently wide for lunch. We had the salmon and the Croque Monsieur. Both were tasty but the croque won if compared and the fries were impressive. The butternut squash soup was way too sweet it was almost like Chinese style sweet soup - please offer another choice for daily soup!

Not a cheap choice for lunch though it is easy to book. Good choice for business lunch.

近近地唔想俾雨淋,坐得靚靚地又想食法國菜呢,就揀左呢度點知…先睇是日menu, 係火車路線既設計,幾特別啊lunch set 只包前菜同main course (即無飲品或甜品)hm.. 好難揀既,因為唔多岩口味雞潤ge 醬配麵包,幾難入口蛋蛋配法國source... omg 好大陣酸味… sorry我真係呑唔落去…大家保險d 揀左牛牛一個類似炆牛腩,一個煎牛扒配薯條炆牛腩既激林,有d 滑散散的texture煎牛朳,medium,最正常反觀個薯條最好味,脆卜卜,熱辣辣掂埋茄汁,簡直好似係沙漠中的綠洲😆雖然無飲品跟餐,咁額外點吧at least 咁先似完滿完成一個set咖啡很普通,沒有太香orz.. 每人埋單$500既收費呢個質素又無咩service 黎講,中伏過一次就算了唄

這帶子份量比較少,只有寥寥三顆中型帶子。帶子煎得香口軟嫩,味道鮮美。加上香滑的白酒忌廉汁,囗感creamy 又香滑,與帶子的鮮味十分相配。配菜紅蘿白青瓜煮得軟腍,帶一點口感,味道清新,同帶子幾夾。

這牛扒真是必點之物!切牛扒是完全不用費力的,輕輕一切,便露出粉嫩的鮮肉色,令人垂涎。牛扒肉質軟腍,有濃郁的牛肉味,充滿肉香又juicy.

加上牛扒是厚切,口感十足,好吃!我們點了兩客,兩人share 一客,由於portion 唔大,有點意猶未盡。

這個法式多士不用多提,實在每次必點。這是我吃過最好的。多士煎得金黃,外層香脆,內𥚃熱呼呼的,口感軟綿綿的像棉花糖,味道香甜,加上冰感的呍呢嗱雪糕,一冷一熱的衝擊,舌尖上的蕾動,真叫人迷醉。結果吃完一份又一份。

吃過味道濃厚的法式多士,要吃過清新的水果甜品作點綴。這脆餅味道香甜,加上清甜多汁的菠蘿,味道酸酸甜甜的,加埋呍呢嗱雪糕,十分甜美清爽。

這咖啡味道甘香,口感奶滑,奶和咖啡的比例恰宜。估唔到咁靚的餐廳的咖啡不是索價$70-$80, 而是平曰coffee shop 的價錢。

今晚的短聚,無論前菜、主菜或甜品,大家吃得十分高興而満足,值得一再encore.唯一缺點是份量比較小巧,相對地性價比唔太高。

$88- this French Toast is roasted with golden yellow color. The skin is so crispy , covered with caramelised sugar, tenderly sweet, on the contrast, the inside is so soft and airy, just like a pillow of condensed egg flavor! Dip the toast with a bit of vanilla icecream, the sensation of hot and cold, the lovely sweetness and the full creaminess, what a heavenly dessert! We can’t stop my mouth , simply craving for more!



After the strong tastes of sweetness, we had something cold and sour instead- the
Citron completement givre $88:
Iced lemon with fresh lemon cream , mint jelly and lemon sorbet.

This is a perfect combination with French toast. The sourness of the iced lemon balance the sweetness and richness of the French toast. It is so icey , sour and fresh, with a hint of mint, really refreshing! That keep us going on and on for French toast.



Very unexpectedly, the beverage here is not expensive ! Only $45 for Cappuccino .

The cappuccino is quite ok, smooth and foamy, with moderate coffee taste and not too bitter, what a nice cup of coffee to round up our dessert time.

We all feel very satisfied with the desserts and definitely coming back again for dinner. Highly recommended!

P.s. the French toast is the best that I had so far in Hong Kong!

這法式多士真係我食過最好嘅,即使上次試過東京過江龍,亦都及呢個多士咁好食。呢個多士煎到表面金黃,邊皮焦脆,內裏軟熟,就是那種頂級外脆內軟的質感,看似好大件,吃起來就是空氣感,沒有半點膩口感覺。那份香甜嘅焦糖表面,同埋濃郁的旦香,配上雲呢拿雪糕,一冷一熱,味道豐盈,甜度恰到好處,就是令人有無限幸福感嘅甜品味道,真係好正!

這到甜品是店員推介。看似好大件嘅批,吃來就是輕輕的,香軟幼滑嘅蛋白就像忌廉,有啲似疏乎厘質地,配上香脆酥皮同脆皮波波。這個甜品味道唔係好甜,主要以旦白foam為主,香脆波波有甜美嘅焦糖味道作為點綴,再配上香滑的吉士同牛油香嘅酥皮,是一道唔錯甜品


這𥚃甜品真係有水準,絕對值得encore.

聴聞新開一間平價的法國餐, 不妨嘗試一下. 午餐有$298起,有前菜,主菜, 但不包括其他. 甜品及飲品是另加的. 午餐的主菜份量很少, 試了湯,魚及牛肉. 湯很好飲,魚就比較腥, 小牛肉口有驚喜. French toast 是另外叫的, 好軟熟,是招牌菜. Latte都好creamy. 環境不錯, 在中環傾計是不錯的選擇. 為一好差是servers全黑面, 全無welcome的感覺, 好失望.

Came here for a casual lunch on a workday. Ordered the $298 set lunch with two courses. As a French restaurant, baguette is served before the meal, but it is not fresh. Inside is cold and outside is very hard, not crispy at all. A bit disappointed as even British restaurants serve a lot better baguette than these. Furthermore, there is no side plate for bread. The liver paste is good in texture, and it tastes amazing together with the pickled veggies. Only down side is that bread is dry and hard instead of crispy.

Then I went for the Hake fillet entree with rice:

The fish does not taste completely fresh. A bit more like those de-frosted fake fresh fish from a premium supermarket. The rice is cooked into almost the exact flavor of the fish, so the two goes really well together in flavor.

Overall, under the $298 price range, the flavor of the two dishes are good, I can give a 4. But the freshness of the food (maybe a 3) as well as how the bread is made(definitely a 1), I definitely think there is big room for improvement. Considering the overall quality and the food material, it’s a bit overpriced. Quite a lot of other places offer amazing two-course meals under 200. Not likely to come back again in the near future.

過去的十月太忙了,忙到老公的正式生日飯也遲了幾天才吃,故更加要花心思找地點。當年蜜月時先玩意大利、後遊法國,所以繼9月底在 Gaia 的意式晚餐,這次精心挑選了主打法國菜的 Terroir Parisien 作為生日飯地點,很慶幸老公吃的超滿意!

位於太子大廈M樓的 Terroir Parisien,地點較為隱秘(其實由歷山大廈走過去會較影找),但進去後環境、氣氛、食物以及服務都是一流的,是輕鬆享用晚餐的好地方。

Yannick Alléno 雖不會長駐香港,卻派出數位跟隨多年的徒弟擔任大廚,出品沒有令人失望。一開首先來杯 Kir Royal Parisien 開心一下,微甜口味加上細緻泡沫,輕易俘虜了媽媽的心;另一邊廂看似平凡的小法包在塗上牛油後,也是美味得很過份!

接著也是非常富有特色的 Warm artichokes salad with mustard and shallots vinaigrette ($135),阿支竹/朝鮮薊吃過不少,但這樣原片上卻是第一次,大部分的外葉都是纖維組織吃不動,但因此更突顯食用部分的柔嫩!加上很讚的調味,自自然然吃個清光~

最後是邪惡的必食推介 --- Snails baked in a Paris mushroom cap with parsley and garlic butter ($158),滿有蒜香的田螺及蘑菇,固然有著致命的誘惑魅力,但更具殺傷力是底下奇香的牛油,用來蘸法包那,簡直是仙級美味;有了它,方才吃剩的麵包轉頭就被消失了,撞鬼啊!

接下來這主菜就值得牛魔王好好記住了:Charolais beef tenderloin with pepper cream sauce, sautéed green beans and potato purée ($460) 選用法國純白Charolais牛,此牛有脂肪不多、紅肉比例較高的特點,肉質十分柔嫩,特別是牛柳中芯,吃起來令人有戀愛的感覺!同時間,美味的胡椒忌廉也功不可沒,令這場「戀愛」增添了激情的元素~

這位「法藉美人」更配搭上超香又滑的薯泥,更加將老饕勾引得三魂不見七魄!雖然認真比較下來,仍是 Robuchon 的神奇薯泥更為傾國傾城,這版本卻有油分較低,(感覺上)較為健康的好處,重點是香口度不變,多吃幾口也沒那麼快膩滯~

吃完主菜已經很飽,但還是堅持點了三份甜品,至少要平上月的紀錄吧!首先是 Saint-Honoré - Caramelized choux pastry, kirsch custard and Chantilly cream ($88),層次及口感出眾,該脆的清脆可喜、要滑的軟滑細膩,味道輕甜柔美,清碟是理所當然的事~

Decided to try this new restaurant which is at a great location and menu looks promising.  I booked a table for a weekday lunch with a friend.  Food was good and price is a bit on the high side (unless you can live with the set lunch choices-we could not): around HKD550-600 per person without wine.  The major problem is it is extremely noisy and we could hardly carry on a conversation. As more details emerged about the superstar Parisian chef's Hong Kong establishment, my excitement was tempered somewhat with the understanding that there would be no ultra 'gastronomique' restaurant; rather a casual French Bistro.

Oh well, at least Terroir Parisien was close to my work; giving me an extra option for business lunches in Central.  And I am partial to a nice simple French style menu...

As it turned out, I did get along for a working lunch with my mate Zoe; it has been ages since our last outing which was to the very tasty Ipoh.

Located on the border of the Landmark and Princess buildings, Terroir Parisien is like a subterranean dungeon; the fit out is quite modern and a little sterile with the best seats in the house located around the bar area. Which is where we were seated for our meal; affording us a great view of the dining room, kitchen and ensured we had quite a personal service from the bar staff.

The Menu at Terroir Parisien is massive, figuratively and literally.  A huge amount of options are plastered all over the cardboard sheet, including details about Set Lunch, Happy Hour specials, afternoon Tea Sets, details about chef Yannick and even 'Terrines et Pâtés' for sale.

Oh, the even manage to squeeze in a full a la carte menu resplendent with soups, starters, mains sides, and desserts!  To be honest, it looked a lot like a typical Hong Kong business website with a bit too much info; almost overwhelming....

We managed to narrow our choices down and eventually placed our order.

I kicked off with a super tasty starter of Grilled line-caught mackerel fillet with summer cauliflowers, tarragon, and mustard vinaigrette.  It was quite a pretty dish, with an expertly grilled mackerel fillet (skin on) sitting alongside florets of cauliflower that had been pickled; each a different colour.  I loved the intensity of the fish, which was both oily and very strong in flavour; the mustard was enough to add a little bite and the pickled cauliflower added an interesting astringency and texture.  A light mayonnaise brought the whole lot together, but I particularly loved the mackerel itself.

Zoe had chosen the Snails baked in a Paris mushroom cap with parsley and garlic butter, which would have been my second choice.  I didn't try the dish, but it looked earthy and quite appetising in a cast iron pan.

Zoe's main was another that I'd been considering, but once I tasted a little bite was pretty happy I'd gone in another direction.  The thick Atlantic cod fish fillet with creamy green peas and lettuce was really quite bland; which was disappointing given its quietly understated beauty on the plate.  There was nothing wrong with the cooking itself, the fish was perfectly moist and firm; it's just that the whole plate lacked any seasoning, resulting in serious blandness.

My main kind of had the opposite problem; the farm roasted chicken breast with seasonal vegetables and Dauphine potatoes was incredibly tasty, but the chicken was overcooked and dry.  I loved the presentation of the chicken in a deep cast iron skillet, the casual placement of the carrots and bean adding to the rustic appeal.  The golden crispy skin of the chicken held much promise, but the minute my knife sliced through the chicken, I knew it was not quite right.  The chicken was partially saved by the delicious pan sauce that had come from the cooking process, but dry chicken is pretty inexcusable.

There was a range of desserts on option, with Zoe going for the simplest of them all; fresh strawberries with Chantilly cream.  You could not have had a more uncomplicated dish, fresh cut strawberries with a quenelle of cream.  There is a reason why the classics are often the best, and not much is better than the simple combo.

I had mixed feelings about my caramelised choux pastry with kirsch custard Chantilly cream....  It looked lovely, and the first few bites were heavenly, the Chantilly cream sitting on a crusty base to form a tart was delicious, but there was waaaaay too much of a good thing and it became overwhelming pretty quickly.  The three caramel encrusted profiteroles were a bit small, so the balance of the dessert was out - too much cream and not enough crunch.  As much as I wanted to, I just could not finish.

Given the price point of Terroir Parisien, I thought the meal was quite passable, with some highlights and some minor issues; things like under-seasoned fish and overcooked chicken don't ruin a meal, but definitely detract.  Interestingly, one fish dish was bland and the other was so packed full of flavour, it was difficult to comprehend the contrast.

Service was outstanding though, we were well looked after and the team were genuinely interested in our feedback about the food; passing on the comments to the kitchen.

The dining room filled out quite nicely and by the time we were finished and ready to pay, the dining room was quite packed; although the bar area still had plenty of seats available.  There was a quiet buzz about the dining room that was awesome to see.

I'm still really disappointed that Hong Kong's first taste of Yannick Alléno is a casual bistro, much preferring to test his skills at an ultra-fine dining establishment.  However, as far as bistro's go, it's not too bad; definitely room for improvement but a place that I'd be comfortable heading back to.

I guess if I want that ultra fine dining experience, I'll have to plan another trip to Paris with the world #31 Alléno Paris au Pavillon Ledoyen in my sights!

Warm artichokes salad, $135
This was prepared with shallots vinaigrette and mustard. Not a fan of artichokes but I'd say that this was reasonably pleasant. It was interesting for mustard to be blended with vinaigrette and I thought I might give this a try at home, too. A-.

Slow braised lamb shoulder "navarin", $348
I was craving for a hearty, meaty dish of tender lamb and while reading the menu knew right away that this was what I wanted this evening. I knew I made a mistake when the dish came, as I had to try hard to take a photo of it with visible flesh. I have a hard time convincing myself that normal men would find this portion size acceptable as a main course. And, if we ditch the portion question and focus on taste, I might add that this was spectacularly unmemorable. B.

Prepared Charolais beef tartar, $330
The tartare was no doubt quality beef, completely raw and tasted refreshing with a zesty sauce and fresh herbs, but an alternative flavor was lacking to balance the soft beef (more capers and mustard, maybe?) making it a little bit awkward to have this alone with potato mash or fries for mains. A stark contrast of this with a richer blend of flavors could be found at Pirata, where staff presents little dishes of ingredients before mixing them into the tartare before each table of diners. I'd rate this a B+.

This was formerly canteen, a quick Chinese lunch place for busy people in the Landmark/ Chater House complex. A revamp hasn't really made this place particularly upscale or reminiscent of Parisian bistros, but the overall design is neat and modern enough. And I might add that our table was so flimsy that whenever I or my partner accidentally stepped on the base, the entire table would shift toward that person by a significant gradient. 

Overall, at this stage, I am not sure Terroir Parisien might even compete well against restaurants in the Landmark complex, the Mandarin Oriental hotel and Jardine House. We may come back a few months later to check it out, as restaurants may take time to run smoothly as they assemble their teams and test the market.

之前在Morocco摩洛哥已经试过 所谓 celebrity chef Yannick Alleno 的手艺,坦白说,不懂欣赏。现在在 香港 central 再试,感觉差别不大,我个人认为味道有点糟糕,但甜品挺好,加回不少分数。

Warm artichoke salad with mustard and shallot vinaigrette ($135) - As a fan of artichoke, there was no better way to start off this meal than a warm artichoke salad with slices of poached artichoke at center stage. This was pretty tasty especially with the mustard dip. A little small in size but fairly good start (Grade: 3.5/5).

Shredded beetroot tossed in a remoulade sauce with beetroot chips ($98) - I thought the artichoke salad was small but I guess I should have waited until our second starter to land. This was even smaller and despite our gallant effort, we weren't able to give everyone a fair share of all the ingredients (especially the beetroot chips). Like the artichoke salad which came before it, it was an above-average dish but our experience was hampered by the incredibly tiny portion (Grade: 3.5/5).

Saffron tagliatelles tossed with goat cheese pesto and spinach leaves ($228) - Seriously not bad. The portion was again a little small but I like the goat cheese pesto there playing the role of catalyst giving the tagliatelle some much needed mix of flavors (Grade: 3/5).

Charolais beef tartare with French fries ($330) - What they have here is a perfectly executed beef tartare and as expected, there would be no modern twist to this French classic. I thought the mouthfeel of the beef tartare was beyond buttery and the balance of savory and spicy notes was right on the money. It was our best main dishes along with the sea scallops without a question (Grade: 4/5).

It was getting a little late and we were one of the few tables sticking around at almost 3:30pm. So instead of exploring the dessert menu, we decided to settle the bill and go somewhere else for our sweet treats.

Some random thoughts on this meal.....so did we end up getting our hearty French bistro fare? I believe we did. But was it the fulfilling lunch that we all expected coming in? Not even close. I thought the portions of everything were so small that none of us felt like we've just eaten lunch. It was a pretty sad reality that with a modest budget of $400 per head, we couldn't even net ourselves a fulfilling lunch in the city these days.
