Came here a long time ago, when it was called Koh Thai. Then the name changed to Soi 7 for awhile, but hadn't been since... as soon as we decided to pay a visit, its name got changed back to Koh Thai again!We were seated upstairs so it was quiet, but service was a bit spotty too. Food was still good though!

頭盤要左個湯,呢個係就咁大蝦酸辣湯,唔係冬蔭功,有兩隻蝦非常爽口!!細細碗但都好足料,落左好多香茅、金不換煲出味,嗰種味完全唔係用粉開嘅味精湯👍🏻兩粒蕃茄仔吸哂湯,啜落去完全變成鮮茄汁化開,呢個質感好impressed!

Main要左個穩陣嘅pad thai,上碟好彩生芽菜、花生碎同辣椒粉分開哂,可以隨自己個人口味mix。個辣粉唔好一次撈哂,一半已經夠辣。呢個粉比平時食嘅厚身啲,因為金邊粉本身黏,所以唔易炒,但呢個唔會落得太多油,甜甜地辣辣地係炒得幾好👍🏻👍🏻
地點唔算好就腳,但都係一間值得行上嚟一試嘅泰菜😀

The set comes along with beverage at $118+10% charge. The portion is very generous but the standard can be upgraded. As a girl, I would prefer having a better meal in a smaller portion actually. Also, there seems to be lack of staff to serve the two stories and food comes a bit slow.

星期六於中環閒逛,被此餐廳的醒目招牌所吸引,本以為是尋常的西式酒吧,但原來是主打Fusion泰菜,令人頗有驚喜!鮮蝦咖哩 (Prawn Curry) - 虎蝦肉質鮮嫩彈牙,絕不欺場。咖哩汁香滑濃郁,椰香陣陣。泰辣香茅薯波 (Lemongrass Chilli Fries) - 炸至香脆的外層包著爽口彈牙的蝦肉,配上一旁的醬,十分醒胃。菠蘿汁 -酸甜適中,菠蘿味新鮮濃郁,還可嚐到細小的果肉,果然是真材實料。此餐廳的價錢在這一區算是相宜,用料新鮮,裝潢別樹一格,值得推薦。

Their glass window at the back gives you a little sneak peak into the kitchen, can see all the chefs in action! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pictures, but my friends and I ordered some finger foods, which were totally unique and finger-lickin-good!

My personal recommendations include the Tuna Tartare Tacos (fresh, crunchy, the sriracha sauce gives a little kick and the lime on the side brings everything together), the Buffalo Wings (boneless...so easy to eat), Spicy Shrimps Deep-Fried with some Spicy Mayo, Lemongrass Chili Fries.......

All the staff are really friendly, always ready to chat and always smily!

They also have a huge signature cocktail selection, using all Thai and southeast Asian ingredients, such as the Passionfruit Capiroska, Basilica and Pineapple Coriander Smash! See some pics below.

Tuna Tartare Wonton "Tacos" ($145)

Tuna tartare with homemade chili-lime tomato dressing in a crisp wonton skin, topped with homemade sour cream and fresh rocket leaves. We have never had a taco with deep fried wonton skin! We wish other Spanish restaurants can try to use wonton skin because it promotes extra crispiness and it is less doughy. And thinner skin can leave us more room for other awesome dishes too!

Laughing Bull ($168)

Grilled Australian wagyu beef, which has been sous vide for 12 hours and served with housemade nam-jim-jaew dressing. First of all, nam-jim-jaew is really fun to pronounce. Second of all, nam-jim-jaew is a traditional Thai sauce made from mainly sugar, fish sauce, and lime juice. It has a mix taste of sweet, sour and savory. We couldn't believe it could actually go so well with wagyu beef! My mouth is already salivating talking about it, I wish I really have this in front of me instead of just a picture....

Pad Thai Lobster ($298)

Pad Thai with whole de-shelled Boston lobster, bean sprouts, garlic chives, dried shrimp and tofu, side with a wedge of lime, peanuts and sugar. This dish brought us back to Thailand, literally. After taking the first bite, we could taste the authenticity by its sweetest. Traditional pad thai is quite sweet while most of the Thai restaurants in Hong Kong aren't aware of. Providing extra sugar is also quite common in Thailand but personally think that by adding lime juice is already good enough the lift the taste.

The dish uses the meat of a whole Boston lobster. The good thing is that it has been de-shelled so that you don't have to be worried getting clumsy messy. For only $298, you can enjoy lobster and good pad thai in LKF area is such a good value! We are definitely coming back for more!

Sorn Bunmee, Executive Chef, demonstrated us how to enjoy the fullness. First you should pour the warm espresso then the cream in the cup. The warm coffee is going dissolve a little bit of the mascarpone cheese, while the cream and cheese flavour balanced out the strong bitterness from the Viet espresso. The dessert portion was quite generous and it was meant for sharing. It was such a fun dessert to have and I am going to pour it myself next time!

Overall, we had a really enjoyable dining experience with the innovative yet traditional Thai food. The restaurant had revealed that all of their chefs are from Thailand, bringing us the most original flavour from their home town.

Soi 7 also serves valuable lunch set featuring some of the dishes we have tried. If you are only up for drinks, they also have Happy Hour promotion from 3-7pm offering 50% off drinks.

Sneak Peek: In October there will be vegetarian menu and a contest coming up.... stay tuned!
