早前已得知黃大仙開了KARAYAMA炸雞專門店,但礙於怕大排長龍,事隔一段時間終於決定來店吃個午飯!可能是週末,用餐的人很多,店又不大,需要在外排十多分鐘才被安排入座。我們被安排坐在店門旁,輪候的人能清楚看到我們用餐,是有點尷尬,座位也有點擠,是空間設計上的不足。飢餓的我倆早已在門外選好了食物,我們點了 KARAYAMA定食(梅)和鐵板七味山椒炸雞定食,定食包括了炸雞件,白飯和味噌湯。等了約十分鐘,先送上來的是KARAYAMA定食(梅),這個餐是有四件大件炸雞,用來點三款秘製醬汁:芝麻蒜香醬,果香鹽味醬,時令滋味醬。炸雞很香脆,略嫌皮有點厚,炸粉佔的部分還可以吧,肉質也算鮮嫩,但有少許乾身,點一點附上醬料更惹味,不點其實也夠味。味噌湯的份量多,熱騰騰,不會過咸。椰菜絲有點失色,不太新鮮。然後我們吃鐵板七味山椒炸雞,由於是用鐵板上枱,此炸雞比剛才的更燙口熱辣!不過味道有點過咸,七味的感覺不太突出。此家炸雞算是不過不失,可以一試,不過暫未有要再吃的衝動。 繼續閱讀

自從韓國炸雞店和烤雞店,在香港開門營業後,韓式雞類食品餐廳突然一下子變成了「雨後春筍」,開到周圍都是炸雞店、烤雞店、甚至炒雞店,有上有落,亦有開(業)有結(業)。韓國雞類食品餐廳在香港蓬勃發展的同時,食客彷彿突然忘記了,其實日本也有屬於自己的炸雞餐廳,而且食法跟韓國可以很不一樣,只是日本炸雞店現在這一刻,還未在香港成為時尚飲食風氣而已。日本炸雞店相對韓國炸雞店而言,廚房製作炸雞的時間,沒有韓國炸雞店預備食品時那麽長時間,好像我今次在黃大仙中心南館的新開日本炸雞店「KARAYAMA」,點了一客有六件炸雞的定食,再加一個極醬汁雞髀肉,連一杯芒果乳酸飲品,全程都只是用了不過廿分鐘時間。但是不知道為什麼我站在「KARAYAMA」外面人龍排隊,人龍總是停滯不前。或許是因為食客在餐廳內享用炸雞的時候,總會因為太過享受日本炸雞定食的味道,渾然忘記了時間,忘記了還有很多人在店外等候他們。期間我還無意中看見了,有三個操日本語口音的人,在店內其中一張檯處,正在享用「KARAYAMA」的二十件「炸雞富士山定食」。跟很多餐廳一樣,日本「KARAYAMA」都要靈活處理,和解決排隊人龍的問題,其中一個最好解決方法,就是店員出來詢問:「有冇人係一個人食飯㗎?」有,當然有!我就是人龍其中一個「一個人開飯」的食客。恰巧店員竟然就安排了我,坐在那班操日本語口音食客那一檯裡面,「三娘教子」,應該說是我一個人搭檯,面對三位日本食客。看着那三位日本食客,大模大樣,旁若無人地享用那座,足足有二十件的「富士山」炸雞,雖然我現在都只能吃雞肉,也是無雞不歡的人。但是看見那座「富士山」,和差不多二百元的價錢,我最後還是量力而為,先點個一般份量的炸雞定食好了。「KARAYAMA」的一般炸雞定食,主要分為「松」、「竹」和「梅」三種份量的炸雞。所謂的「松」、「竹」、「梅」,其實即是大中小三種份量。「松」定食是大份的炸雞,炸雞共有六件;「竹」定食是中份份量定食,共有五件炸雞;至於「梅」定食則是最小份的定食,共有四件炸雞。我對雞肉情有獨鍾,亦是此時此刻我只能食的食物。如果我現在暫時不點「富士山」定食的話,就暫時只能吃個份量排「第二」的松定食,再另點一客「極醬汁香脆雞髀肉」好了。另外,我在「KARAYAMA」點了炸雞定食後,發現還可以跟餐,追加一杯「乳酸飲品」,分別有白桃、巨峰提子和芒果三款口味。我之前在紅磡黃埔新天地的日本菜餐廳「餃X餃子」,已經喝過白桃味的乳酸飲品。所以我今次只在巨峰提子和芒果兩款口味之中,二選其一口味。結果我還是選擇了芒果口味乳酸飲品。後來事情的進展,證明了我沒有選錯乳酸飲品口味。因為我後來在另一間日本菜餐廳「吉X家」食晚飯時,竟然選擇了「巨峰提子」口味的乳酸飲品。冥冥中自有主宰,當時我在「KARAYAMA」選擇芒果乳酸飲品,可能是正確的決定。大約在十多分鐘過後,所有我點了的炸雞和定食,都已經差不多完成上檯,之後追加的芒果乳酸飲品,亦都順利完成和被侍應端出來。「松」炸雞定食包括六件新鮮的炸雞、一碗味噌湯、一大碗白飯和一碟三款口味的調味醬汁。三款醬汁口味,分別有「秘制芝麻蒜蓉醬」、「果香鹽味醬」以及「時令滋味醬」。除了「果香鹽味醬」比較有淡淡果香之外,其餘兩款味道醬汁味道,都偏向比較較重以及濃厚,我個人比較喜歡味道較濃厚的「秘制芝麻蒜蓉醬」。至於另外追加點選的「極醬汁香脆雞髀肉」,味道同樣偏重偏濃,酸酸甜甜的「極醬汁」一早已經,被塗抹好在一早炸好的雞髀肉身上,用竹筷子夾起香脆雞髀肉就立刻可以享用。「極醬汁香脆雞髀肉」果然一如其名,雞髀肉口感真的很香脆。炸雞髀內淋上那個鮮甜略帶酸味的極醬汁,如果我不是要用手機先把它拍照的話,其實我很想立刻把它吃下去,因為炸雞髀肉真的很香脆,味道酸甜十分開胃。「極醬汁香脆雞髀肉」固然是雞髀肉,雞髀肉質地很厚是理所當然,但是雞肉質地厚的同時,口感又很香脆很易咬,才是最令我喜歡它的地方。「KARAYAMA」預早把極醬汁塗抹在雞髀肉上面,令雞髀肉充滿了極醬汁的酸甜鮮味。事後看回相片裡面的「KARAYAMA」香脆雞髀肉,原來「KARAYAMA」有為香脆雞髀肉推出了有極醬汁版本,和沒有極醬汁的香脆雞髀肉版本,兩者價錢其實只差一元,但味道酸甜帶鮮的極醬汁,價錢只差一元已經算是不錯,很便宜的價錢。至於「KARAYAMA」晚餐的主角,共有六件炸雞的「KARAYAMA松定食」,我刻意點了「松」定食,本來只因貪小便宜,想一次過吃最多的「KARAYAMA」炸雞。炸雞上檯後,我立刻夾起一大件炸雞,沾上左邊的「秘制芝麻蒜蓉醬」。炸雞加上「秘制芝麻蒜蓉醬」後,炸雞一如我所料地,充滿了醬汁的芝麻香味,和一點點的蒜蓉微香。我本來就喜歡吃芝麻醬,只因芝麻本身的濃厚香味,磨出來的芝麻香,沾上的食物都會沾上其味道精華,味道香甜之餘十分易入口。至於另外兩款味道醬汁,我就比較喜歡味道有點像甜醬,味道偏向鮮濃的「時令滋味醬」,反而「果香鹽味醬」,可能其果香壓過了醬汁本身的鹽味,結果我反而只是吃到其果香,鹽鹹味反而不太感受到。不過,不理「KARAYAMA」三款醬汁哪款醬汁最好,整個套餐真正的主角,始終都是食店花時間炸出來的香脆炸雞,炸雞的口感真的鬆脆,咬下去真的聽到「卡滋」的聲音,再點上三款口味的醬汁,已經是錦上添花,為香脆炸雞的味道和口感加上一層味道點綴而已。我最後喝下另外追加的「芒果乳酸飲品」,飲品本身的芒果味道很濃,而且芒果味道比較偏新鮮榨取的新鮮芒果汁,在尚處炎熱的九月環境下,芒果味道保持香甜是理所當然。再加上「芒果乳酸飲品」獨有的開胃感覺,令我整晚在黃大仙中心「KARAYAMA」炸雞晚餐,連加一服務費,整個炸雞晚餐一百一十元價錢,為「KARAYAMA」晚餐劃上了完美的句號。試過口感極之香脆的「KARAYAMA」炸雞,和酸甜醬汁後,下次再來「KARAYAMA」,我可以放心,大膽點選「富士山」份量的二十件炸雞了。 繼續閱讀

What is it about fried chicken that makes it one of the world's most popular dish? Be it from the US, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, etc ... fried chicken is the one go to item that most people covet for the deep fried feeling of love.Karayama is a chain of restaurants from Japan. Much like how Yoshinya brought the fast food beef donburi to the masses, Karayama brings you karaage. Japanese fried chicken. Now they have opened their first branch in Hong Kong and in Wong Tai Sin's Temple Mall.As boyfriend lives in this area, he was super excited about it and wanted to give it a try on opening day. So, he messaged me to come over for lunch while he went to queue up. When I got there, he had already waited half an hour and he asked if we should wait or leave. As I said I had just gotten there, perhaps we stay a bit to determine to leave or not. It was a weekday and I guess curious local residents of Wong Tai Sin wanted to give this new restaurant a try. So, after an extra half hour, we were seated.The restaurant is actually really small. It's also laid out a lot like Cat-Tu-Ya, the fast food style Japanese fried pork cutlet restaurant. The menu itself was designed much the same so I wonder if they are the same parent group.The kitchen is pretty small but they do have a window where you can see them deep frying the chicken.Menu was in English, Chinese and Japanese. There is no 10% service charge. Menu was simple as they only had three choices.  Either as a set with rice or on top of rice. If you wanted the rice bowl, you get a choice of two different sauces: sesame garlic or  salty fruity (and no it's not yuzu). If you want it as a set with rice, you get three dipping sauces. Rice and salad is not refillable.As it was still undergoing a soft opening, everything was $50, be it dine in or take away. Also, the full menu was not available yet. Like the mountain of 20 pieces of fried chicken set so you can get that hilarious photo of pigging  out on fried chicken.After ordering, we waited 45  minutes for our food to arrive. It was too new and I guess kitchen couldn't work fast enough. Waiting 2 hours for food? Was it worth it?Set 1 ($50). Boyfriend ordered this one. It included four pieces of fried chicken, shredded cabbage, bowl of rice and miso soup. There were three sauces for dipping (from left to right): regular karaage dipping sauce, sesame garlic, salty fruity. From the sauces, we both agreed the regular one was the best. The sesame garlic was far too salty and was least preferred.  The miso soup was not worth mentioning. It was the typical type from the powder form.The chicken was fairly good. A lightly seasoned coating though a bit on the oily side. Meat was moist.Set Three ($50).  I ordered the fried chicken topped with leek  and a salty fruity flavor sauce rice bowl. You get three pieces of chicken but they cut them in half so you get six pieces. The sauce just laid on top of the leeks. I thought they would mix it with the chicken but I guess I was wrong. The rice was disgusting. Soft and mushy. Way too over cooked. It tasted different than the bowl from my boyfriend where the rice was decent enough. We suspect they must layer the dons with the poorly made rice as no one can see it.A photo of the fried chicken. Lovely juicy meat. Coating was crispy. Though again on the oily side.Waiting two hours to eat (queue time plus delivery of food time), was definitely not worth it.  When I asked boyfriend how it compared to the Japanese branch as he had eaten there, he said it was like comparing apples and oranges but he would return as he lives close by and if there are no queues, he'd be back. [ 香港都食到 | 東京淺草炸雞店🇯🇵]••呢間係東京既連鎖店都黎左香港一段時間,但我一直都無機會去試😩仲要男朋友已經自私食左幾次!仲要佢次次都影相比我睇!👊🏻之前佢話都排好長龍,但我地今次去食都唔使排lu😙-🔹鐵板南蠻他他醬炸雞定食($68)⭐️6.5/10超級熱辣辣上枱,有5大件雞🐔外層炸得好脆好脆,由於我個日箍牙覆完診,啲牙無力😖男朋友幫我好似小朋友咁每件一開三咁食👧🏻入面雞肉都尚算嫩滑,最好食係配埋他他醬,食落無咁乾爭爭,都唔錯👍🏻睇落好細份,但最後我都食唔哂,要人執手尾🤪-🔺男朋友食滑蛋炸雞丼🐔佢餓到唔比我影相😂不過我覺得麻麻地...都係南蠻炸雞好✌🏻🔺仲有香港限定口味🇭🇰鐵板七味花椒炸雞,怕會好辣,我又唔食得辣,就無試喇🤷🏻‍♀️-- 繼續閱讀

朋友話想食炸雞但又唔想食咁貴就諗住openrice下有冇啲平炸雞見到黃大仙有間日式炸雞店都有啲人氣價錢又唔算貴就決定去試一試去到既時候係平日晚上7點幾都開始有條人龍但裡面既人都食得好快食完就走所以都係等左10分鐘左右入到去2個人都決定揀karayama定食(竹)想一次過試哂佢3款醬汁落單5分鐘後就上菜炸雞係新鮮炸起但食落有啲乾就算沾左醬汁黎食都仲係好乾食到一半會唔想繼續食落去但個醬汁係幾好食最鐘意芝麻蒜蓉個隻埋單每人70蚊晚餐黎講都唔算貴但試左一次應該唔會再想食 繼續閱讀
