因為要到堅道開會, 所以決定meeting完了之後去SOHO  HH, 伊利近街是首選, 因為餐廳比較集中, 是日去了Enoteca On Elgin, 有一段日子沒有來, 很懷念它的White Wine Platter, 我們2人點了2杯紅酒, 這枝 Saint Esprit 的Cotes Du Rhone, 很不錯! 很Dry 和 Complex, 這裡的酒價錢十分相宜, 取自 Robert Parker的評價:“The brilliant 2010 Cotes du Rhone St. Esprit is the best Cotes du Rhone I have ever tasted from Delas. 我記得之前在這裡喝過一瓶叫Columbia Valley 的紅酒, 十分難忘, 但已經沒有在酒牌上....
到今日的亮點, 是white wine platter, 相信一定會說飲紅酒為什麼叫white wine platter, 因為我真是覺得white wine platter 比red wine platter好吃和味道清新一點, 其實麵包是最好吃的, 熱騰騰外脆內軟, 飽面鋪滿香草,好有地中海菜式的風味, 以前是free bread refill, 太飽了沒有refill, 不知道現在還是不是一樣! 還有一些海鮮如蝦, 尤魚等和青黑橄欖, 暢快地渡過了我們的快樂時光

Have been coming here for years and glad to see, after an extended time abroad, that not too much has changed: fun, lively place with very good wines and really good, honestly prepared food. From sauteed wild mushrooms, to salmon skewers, perfectly charred and medium-rare beef chunks, roasted potatoes, to many other tapas, have never gone wrong over a dozen times over the years. Very nice and friendly waitstaff and management. Kudos.

This great little tapas restaurant is on Elgin, in Soho. My friend picked Enoteca, and it was a nice surprise. I'm usually apprehensive about tapas that it will be expensive per plate and not filling at all.It was pretty affordable and ended up to be about $270-350 per personWe started with a melted brie appetizer. 同在逆境中飽受煎熬的同事(我的“無間獄友”) 告訴我,灰色的心情就像一輪惡性循環,源自己身,影響他人,再由己身接受,想躲的話,就只有休假才能稍事歇息。不經不覺許多同事,已先後離開這個煉獄,我和“獄友”也相繼轉職至新環境。現在想來,其實就算再苦,也會有成為過去的一天。一切事物,都是因緣和合而生,都是聚散無常的表相。只要能夠想開一點,再苦也可以捱得過去。

我和“獄友”已有半年沒見,聚舊之日特意選一間,在他家附近的餐廳,方便這隻“夜貓子”在週末中午時份應約。其實早兩個月前,已想到訪Enoteca on Elgin,可惜因為走錯了路,就只好改去Allora。許多在Soho的餐廳,週末都有供應Brunch Set,Enoteca on Elgin也不例外。除了Brunch Set,還有沙律、漢堡、下酒拼盤、小吃和Pizza等選擇。看了餐牌幾遍,還是覺得菜式不太合心意,反正當天以聚舊為主,就隨意點了一客Smoked Salmon Brunch Plate,“獄友”則點了一客Beef Tenderloin Chunks。

最先上桌的是Beef Tenderloin Chunks,辣椒、蒜蓉和牛肉的香味撲鼻而來,是西菜少有的惹味感覺,這種香味令我想起中菜的“鑊氣”。本身不吃牛肉,所以沒有與“獄友”一起分享這道菜。雖然份量不多,但從“獄友”口中得知非常好吃。

我的那份Smoked Salmon Brunch Plate,原本已包一杯果汁,我則加錢改要Pineapple and Mango Smoothies。這道菜有薯餅、水煮蛋、煙三文魚、多士和雜果,雖然看似份量頗大,種類也多,顏色也鮮艷悅目,但味道卻相對較為失色。最難吃的是薯餅,因為既沒有薯香,又濕濕軟軟,就這樣眼見的和口感的有重大落差,到最後仍然搞不清楚自己在吃甚麼。水煮蛋雖然有流心效果,但蛋白明顯煮得過熟,令透明感和絲滑感消失。煙三文魚則是一般貨色,大大的兩塊,極其量只懂欣賞它的“飽足感”。那片厚脆多士,如果能夠配上乳脂香味豐富的牛油,將會令我更為欣賞。可惜此店用的是毫無香味和味道的方便裝牛油,煞風景得可以。尤幸這裡供應的雜果都是新鮮貨色,所以一定好吃。我的飲品 — Pineapple and Mango Smoothies,也是果香十足,且幼滑非常,只是有點不夠甜而已。

最後追加兩客甜品,分別是Passion Fruit Cheesecake及Chocolate Mud Cake。Passion Fruit Cheesecake的賣相,有點像一小塊方型的日式豆腐。吃起來口感幼滑微甜,但芝士的香味太淡,面層的熱情果醬汁卻非常酸,個人不太欣賞這個甜點。Chocolate Mud Cake卻是難得的好吃,面層的熱朱古力漿,香濃、幼滑又可口,那塊像Chocolate Brownie般的朱古力蛋糕,內有香脆杏仁片,朱古力迷一定愛死這款甜點。

老實說,單從開飯的餐廳評分來看,我對此店是抱有期望的。不過來到親嚐之後,又覺得未如想像中的好。只不過因為“聚舊”才是這餐的重點,所以也不再挑剔了。

而個 Vanilla Sauce就比較甜~加埋布甸同cream一齊食個味就0岩0岩好~

i was surprised that the restaurant took reservation for saturday lunch and managed to host a 10+ ppl gathering.the service was good, the girls there were very friendly and helpful.brunch menu was served in weekends. the food was delicious and in generous portion. the "breakfast pizza" was big enough for two girls to share and we all "wow"ed seeing it coming. besides, the "breakfast plate", "egg benedict", enoteca smoothies were also very nice.the brunch was served till 4 and that it did prolon

p.s. the restaurant was wrongly placed in another side of the elgin street on the map and that caused some trouble for my friends to locate it.

I had previously read some reviews about Enoteca on Elgin, and with us all being novice connoisseurs, we decided to treat our palettes to a Mediterranean delight. Upon arrival, we were surprised to see the restaurant packed with people, despite the horrid weather conditions. Luckily (because we hadn't made reservations), there was a table in the back which they were able to set up for us in 5 minutes.

We started off with a wine. They have a decent selection of wine (both red and white) and the server was very helpful in helping us decide which wine to get. And then came the food. We ordered 2 little plates (appetizers), a white wine platter, and a pizza.

(1) Beef tenderloin chunks sautéed in garlic & chili
The beef chunks were extremely tender. However, it was a little too spicy for my liking.

(2) Pesto chicken & Parmesan risotto balls
The chicken and risotto is deep fried and served with a white sauce (I couldn't tell what it was). In this combination, however, the Parmesan was a little overpowering, masking the pesto chicken. It was extremely rich.

(3) White Wine Platter
[In the platter: Prawn remoulade, flash fried squid was Harissa aioli, pear & gorgonzola bruschetta, marinated zucchini, eggplant, asparagus, artichoke hearts & mixed olives with pesto brushed toasted focaccia]
When this first arrived at our table, we were a bit taken aback. We weren't sure about the portions of their dishes, but for 3 people, this was plenty. While I appreciated the variety of flavors and textures in this platter, there was no one element that really stood out for me. I will give them credit for the focaccia bread though - it was lightly toasted and still soft, allowing you to savor each pesto-filled bite without chipping your teeth.

(4) Half/Half Parma Ham / Spicy Chorizo & Onion Pizza
This homemade thin crust pizza was delicious! The parma ham pizza was flavorful, and my favorite of the two. The spicy chorizo & onion pizza, on the other hand, was not as memorable.

Like(s):
- Friendly and knowledgeable servers
- Relaxed atmosphere perfect for unwinding and chatting
- Parma Ham Pizza = delicious! Highly recommend.

Dislike(s):
- Beef tenderloin chunks were too spicy
- White Wine Platter = nothing special
- Seating was slightly cramped

希臘沙律配希腊白軟乾酪和橄欖 (Greek salad with Feta & Olives):沙律新鮮,dressing 味道特別.
蕃茄麵包 (Tomata & Oregano Brushchetta):蕃茄粒酸酸哋, 很開胃! 中間果片葉叫Oregano, 是一種薄荷類香草, 中文係 "奧勒岡",”阿里根奴” , 又名 "牛至", 味香而帶小小苦. 在意大利及地中海菜式中非常普遍. 佢有很多的phenolic acids 和 flavonoids, 是很有益的抗氧化食物 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregano)

主菜
魚糙米飯 (Pan fried snapper fillet with wild rice & lemon butter ):魚煮得恰恰好, 很鮮, 配埋汁,味道不錯,但份量較少,男仕可能唔足夠. 
紅辣椒海蛤扁意粉 (ocean clam chilli linguine):扁意粉和海蛤又腍又彈牙,個汁少辣, 好好食;呢個份量較多,所以分咗一半俾佢. 

甜品
乾果沙巴翁配手指餅 (dried fruit sabayon with lady finger sponge) : 提子和棗子乾加埋黏稠的旦漿, 偏甜
咖啡香蕉拖肥旦糕(coffee banoffi pie):味道細腻, 食得津津有味.

由麵包到甜品, 每一碟都吃得乾乾淨淨, 肚子吃得滿滿的. 我下了決心, 每天都要做運動,我不想變成米芝蓮公仔 (肥嘟嘟的車胎人) 啊!


除咗bar 枱, 差唔多坐滿人 (> 30 人) , 服務員行來行去, 都幾忙, 服務勤快; 但都有幫我哋加水, 仲要係熱水, 服務質素不俗.

總括一句,推介. 
請注意Openrice 的地圖錯咗,所以, 是否中環人也覺得呢間舖頭難揾,

如果大家搭扶手電梯上去soho, 見到7-eleven果條伊利近街直行, Soho spice 和 Le Fauchon的中間就是了.

之後就有個beef tendon with chili and garlic,佢有兩隻架,個個服務生哥哥推介呢隻所以我地就叫左呢隻啦。呢碟野黎到係勁香,香到不得了!!! 食落口都係好香口既,因為辣辣地,好食! 佢雖然有少少un,但又唔會係你食得好辛苦個隻,都幾有肉味。不過唔係好大碟架咋,好快就食完啦。

跟住叫左個Salami thin crusted pizza,黎到勁大個。佢切左做 8 塊,仲要全部都好大塊,不過食下食下又食哂喎。個餅底係好薄同脆,但我切得好辛苦... 切勁都切唔開! 不過係好味的,有埋d芝士,沙樂美腸好薄,又未至於會溶係口,不過同個pizza幾夾就真。

最後要左個Rich Chocolate and Almond Mud Cake同兩杯Cappuccino,個甜品係佢勁推介的,佢話每次食餐都好興奮喎!! 哈哈,不過都係好食的,我又唔會覺得佢好甜喎,好重朱古力味。而且佢有好多杏仁,減低左個甜度,食落又有野咬下有D口感,好食呀! 佢上面仲有D Cream cheese既物體,俾你連埋蛋糕一齊食!

Cappuccino奶泡超厚,不過唔會有好滑好密個種感覺。咖啡味唔算好濃,定係唔知因為我地食完甜野呢,所以咖啡香差少少。

食完非常滿足,兩個人都飽飽啦。多謝banban請我食生日飯,仲有生日戲,哈哈! 下次我地要去食西班牙菜,我會記得的。=)

Typhoon Signal No. 3 (T3) has been hoisted or more accurately, just been lowered from T8 a few hours ago. I was sitting right in front of the TV at home all morning, waiting for updates on the typhoon signal. I arrived back to work 45 mins after the signal was lowered. If you ask me, I think the lowering of Typhoon Signal from T8 during the working hours (especially in the morning) is worst than not have any typhoon at all! Typhoon Signal No. 3 (T3) has been hoisted or more accurately, just been lowered from T8 a few hours ago. I was sitting right in front of the TV at home all morning, waiting for updates on the typhoon signal. I arrived back to work 45 mins after the signal was lowered. If you ask me, I think the lowering of Typhoon Signal from T8 during the working hours (especially in the morning) is worst than not have any typhoon at all! One basically had to wake up earlier than usual to check the news / radio and go back to sleep and wake up soon after again to check for updates again. The constant checks consume more energy than usual in my opinion. As a reward for the energy consuming exercise in the morning, lunch on this day must be something relaxing, refreshing and hopefully re-energizing.
Among the restaurants on this street, Enoteca on Elgin is one of the few that has a large open patio front and with the light breeze, it was a good choice to sit close to the street while enjoying a refreshing lunch. The atmosphere of this place is very causal and cozy, together with the Stucco wall finishes, it does give out a kind of Mediterranean feel to the it. Soon after we ordered, the basket of bread arrived. Both the grilled French bread and the bread sticks were heavy rosemary flavors which I like but they were too dry. The bread sticks were not just dry but overly crunchy that when you try to break it into two, it would end up being crushed into small pieces.
(1) Roasted Beetroot with Rocket & Goats Cheese
I love beetroot and the combination with Rocket and Goat Cheese was very nice indeed. However, the beetroot was not really roasted as shown in the menu and the goat cheese was not the strong flavor type but it was fine with me. The dressing was vinegar based and it was pretty refreshing.
(2) Caesar Salad of Romaine Hearts, Crisp Bacon & Anchovy
The salad was heavy on the anchovy but surprisingly not overly rich in flavor. It was salty in general but in a very delicious way. The disappointing part of the salad was the romaine which was not crisp enough, slightly soggy. O well, the crispiness of the bacon made up for it.
(3) Pan-fried Salmon Steak with Coriander Couscous
It was a pretty generous offering with such a large piece of salmon. However, it was a bit dry to my liking. It has been a long while since I last had couscous and I actually enjoyed it although it was rather tasteless.
(4) Thin Crust Salami Pizza with Oregano
First of all, more rockets would be nice! Served on a wooden stand, the pizza was a delight. The crust was thin and crisp as described and I really liked the fact that not too much tomato sauce was used, just the right amount so flavors of other ingredients can be tasted. Thumbs up!
(5) Mango Cheesecake & Creamy Chocolate Mousse
No surprises on the Mango Cheesecake but the creamy chocolate mousse was a wonderful surprise to end the meal. It was rich in flavor and the texture was very mushy and light which put a little smile on my face.

I was keen on some Mediterranean food so we hit up some Mediterranean restaurants. One was initially booked but due to some circumstances our booking had to be cancelled for the night, so we hit up another Mediterranean joint nearby. I was keen on some Mediterranean food so we hit up some Mediterranean restaurants. One was initially booked but due to some circumstances our booking had to be cancelled for the night, so we hit up another Mediterranean joint nearby.

It turns out this inconspicuous eatery was a little gem.

We were promptly and passionately served by the waiting staff, whom (I guess) were glad to speak English to the two of us.

Food was nice. We ordered a chicken pesto and risotto balls, seared tuna loin, Greek salad and a red wine platter. The first three were little plates and were good as finger food. The chicken and risotto balls were neatly deep fried and came with a white sauce I could not identify with (nice, nevertheless); the seared tuna loin was served with black and white sesame seeds, a wedge of lemon and what tasted like soy sauce used in sashimi. The tuna was seared so that it retained its pink throughout the slices. The Greek salad was a nice diversion from the meaty plates. It wasn't drowning in balsamic vinigarette but had the lingering taste throughout the dish. A nice move.

The red wine platter was chosen even though we decided to skip the wine. It consisted on a few combinations of meat (including parma ham), what tasted like taleggio and a soft cheese (probably gorgonzola?), capsicums, sun-dried tomatoes, peppers, olives, zucchinis and bruschetta.

The bruschetta was nice and hot when it arrived at our table - and did not look as though it came out of a microwave for a change. He was not that accustomed to the strong taste of what I think is parmesan cheese, but I dug into it with the less salty counterparts like capsicums and zucchinis. The sun-dried tomato was not one of those dried up ones; it retained most of its moisture and was actually quite juicy. The serving of olives was plentiful, and given that I had more than enough olives in the Greek salad, I wasn't too keen on touching them again.

Limoncello was sadly forgettable. A bit too sweet and not enough tangy lemon taste in it. The alcohol was in abundance though!

The seating arrangements were not memorable either, as we sat in bar stools for the dinner. There are probably 8 or 10 seats that are not bar stools inside the restaurant, and another 6 or 8 at the balcony (out the front). Little did we realise, it turns out this is more of a bar than a restaurant, and people around us (95% of the patrons were expat customers) were happily ordering little plates of food and drinking the night away, rather than sitting down for a proper meal.

The price is typical for SoHo though - expensive when you compare it with meals you can have down the hill, but hey, this is a nice experience if you're keen to try something apart from the same old Chinese and/or Japanese cuisine.

這間店多數都係坐高,得少量普通坐位,所以最好 book 左位先。同埋張真係好細,攪到我地只好慢慢逐樣 order...但係個 waitress 係咁問我地 any more?errr.....佢見唔到我地張係無位啦咩?唔係太中意佢地係咁問 any more wine?any dessert?咁,坐一陣又行黎問,又唔見佢斟水斟得密 d ....同埋佢竟然將 wine bucket 放左係正門口位!所有人入黎都會經過個度,忍唔住叫佢擺番我地隔黎....

但十分乾淨很好

本想去另一間地中海菜館吃午飯,但那裡卻關了門,唯有來這裡。也是吃地中海菜,價錢還比那裡便宜一點,兩道菜連飲品,一百蚊樓下便可以了。前菜可選沙律或湯,前者是田園沙律,用上的沙律菜新鮮又爽甜,最特別的是下了幾個烤新薯,香味四溢,加上爽辣的紅洋蔥,不錯;主菜是烤吞拿魚併中東包,中東包明顯是來貨,薄薄的又乾乾的,勝在烘得熱脆。裡面夾著烤吞拿魚,配上切粒的牛油果及洋蔥等等,散收收的,賣相很一般。但吃起來又不差,吞拿魚加上牛油果,口感很配合。灑上橄欖油及香草,簡單得來,味道又不錯。連熱咖啡一杯,埋單90蚊,不算貴,在呢個地段,都要收番咁上下價錢。
