When I first started visiting Craft Beer Co. They had a decent selection, and were actually able to pour a proper pint. Which are indisputably the minimum requirement for any joint ostensibly named "craft beer co."
The central store was decent enough. However, service at the Sai Ying Pan joint has always been a bit of joke, and the toilets are absolutely filthy. Fine, it is rustic I guess. But at least the beer was alright. Was. I'm
I knew they have gone downhill over time but boy was I not underestimating their ability to deliver an abhorrent experience.
I ordered a "dry-hopped larger" whose very characters could be held as a textbook example of what a larger isn't like.
A larger is supposed to have a reasonable level of carbonation, a slightly tangy and smooth mellow taste. And the said dry-hopping process was supposed to give it an intense hoppy aroma.
Well, what was delivered was an utter mind boggling experience . It was sour, mellow indeed but without the crispy balanced taste. There was hardly any carbonation (the beer is flat) and no trace of dry hoppy process except the cloudy character (a larger is supposed to get clear, but ok it is dry hopped, but where the hell is the aroma).
It was so unbelievable un-larger like that I thought the staff had given me the wrong drink.
Now I know the whole point of craft brewing is to deliver unconventional tastes. But there's a very fine line between uniqueness and plain disaster.
