With so many cart noodle restaurants in Hong Kong, when one calls its restaurant the Cart Noodel Expert it makes one wonder?  Is it really an expert?I saw this Groupon deal where you only pay $58 for a two people set that includes a bowl of noodles and three items to choose from along with a drink. Taking this, boyfriend and I came here for lunch on a Saturday at 2 PM as the Groupon required it be used after 2 PM.Located in Sheung Wan where there are already so many other cart noodle restaurants, this one stood out in terms of design.The outside wall is a drawing of very familiar characters lining up for a bowl of cart noodles. The drawing itself is drawn by local Hong Kong political comic artist 甘小文 (English name: Kam Siu Man).Inside there is another drawing by the artist featuring not political figures and celebrities but popular superheroes munching on cart noodles in a this very restaurant.But this is what drew me here. A wall of Stormtrooper helmets and Kylo Ren's right in the center. Star Wars nerd in me rejoiced.Menu is in the form of a checkoff piece of paper that is Chinese only. They do have English but you have to ask for it. there is no 10% service charge. As any cart noodle restaurant, you choose the type of noodle and choose add ons and that is what you pay for. As we had a Groupon for two bowls of small size noodles with three choices of toppings and a drink, that's what we did.This is my bowl of noodles. I chose thick vermicelli as originally I wanted thick noodles, but this lady sitting across from me said don't choose the thick noodles, it's not very good. Noting she seemed like a regular, I listened to her advice and went with thick vermicelli. I had chicken wing, stuffed bean curd and leek and pork dumplings.  The chicken wings were ok. Not too strong marinade but at least flavored. The dumplings were not good at all. Skin was much too thick and it tasted gummy. Some parts of the skin still tasted undercooked. Filling wasn't good, too. Just tasted mushy in texture. The best was the stuffed  beancurd. They were stuffed with fish meat. Combined with soaking up the soup, it was pretty good. Soup base was ok. Nothing worth mentioning. Just tasted like MSG.Boyfriend chose Shanghai noodle as his noodle. He added squid, beef brisket and sweet and sour gluten. He also had beef brisket sauce added for extra flavor to his soup it just taste saltier and a bit more oilier. The squid was not spicy at all and it just tasted like rubber. It wasn't good at all. The beef brisket was moist and tender. The marinade really soaked into the meat.The sweet and sour wheat gluten was served separately as the staff said they didn't want to drown out the sweet sand sour sauce poured on top of it if placed into the soup. This, quite frankly, was terrible. The sauce was ok but the wheat gluten was tough as rocks.Design was whimsical and I quite liked it. Place was fairly clean. But as for the food, it was average at best. I think boyfriend enjoyed it more than me. If I had to pay full price for this and didn't have a Groupon deal, I would have gave this a crying but as I only paid $29, I can give this an ok. 繼續閱讀

早前,經過上環蘇杭街,見到開業不足兩年的 cafe Little Break Coffee & Kitchen 已結業!就算得知開業初期有試食,卻是難逃結業厄運!十二月尾經過才發現有間新店 <車仔麵專家>,一於找天幫襯吧!沿這條街走一趟!會發現有4間車仔麵店!包括:<麵尊>、<車仔麵世家>、<90后車仔面&糖水> 及 <車仔麵專家>!當日星期六中午幫襯,坐下來最驚喜見到以 Star War 的白武士作裝飾! 期間,有位著住中袖衫的大陸女食客覺得冷氣凍,要求店員調一調!店員服務好,有求必應! 果然是顧客至上!講真,遊客生意做一次半次,還以為店員不會理會,因為滿足一位食客,可能較細了冷氣而令附近的食客覺得熱呢!最緊要有食客番單,新客變成舊客!餐牌蠔油齋、豆卜釀蝦膠、時菜 配豉油撈腸粉 $34蠔油齋以為是蠔油醃製柔軟質感的麵筋,怎料食落乾曾曾!豆卜釀蝦膠算是較好的一款吧! 豆卜表面乾身兼淡茂茂!全靠豉油汁提味,蝦膠尚算彈牙可口!.生菜吸收豉油汁,即時惹味起來!貪新鮮感而點了豉油撈腸粉,豉油稀汪汪, 腸粉滑溜程度一般,質感不過不失!老實說,入口不算熱,就算我坐的桌子距離廚房最近都無補於是!放涼了就放涼了!小店的貨色比這裡更勝一籌,就算我買外賣返公司,行 5分鐘路程,打開發泡膠飯盒盛載的腸粉依然是熱辣辣!怪在自己錯配!連樽裝麥精奶 $6,總數 $40 好抵食! 繼續閱讀

很喜歡吃車仔麵,一段時間沒有去這間車仔麵專家,今天下午再去,發覺水準不大如前。星期六的下午,人不算多。看到有這個維他奶紅豆冰,綽頭而已,紅豆製作一般。我其中一樣叫了咖喱齋,極其難吃;醬汁和咖哩齋混在一起,醬汁是冰凍的,而且醬汁早乾,也不知道放了多久,也沒有加熱,一團的樣子,賣相差,味道也差,不知道是否交來的。炸魚皮,普通貨色。今次試新東西,不叫河粉或麵,叫了腸粉。從來也沒有吃過這樣難吃的腸粉,一吃就知道是交來的,也算了,不過也可以留意來貨的質素如何;這是亂來的下下之作。腸粉是硬的,完全沒有香滑的感覺,真讓人從望。店內的裝飾用上了星球大戰,我其實想不到和車仔麵有甚麼關係;可能是店主自己喜歡吧。反而這幅甘小文之作就甚有特色,值得欣賞。凍檸茶也是亂來,求其有檸檬片,有茶,就是凍檸茶;其實做得車仔麵或茶餐廳,這樣的凍檸茶可以給客人喝,真是要極好意思才做到。這店在剛開張時的食物質素甚好,現時很明顯差了很多,可能是換了廚師,可能是將貨就價;無論如何,短短的一條蘇杭街就有四間車仔麵,要維持生意,要長期有熟客回頭,必然要花功夫不可。順帶一提,在吃了他們的咖喱齋之後,回到寫字樓馬上肚痛,還幸不是嚴重,希望店主留意;不新鮮的食物,只用雪櫃雪的東西,加熱了才給客人吃,這是常識,知道嗎? 繼續閱讀

上環情報:期望過大的車仔麵店-試食餐廳:車仔麵專家(上環蘇杭街104號秀平商業大廈地舖)美味指數:$29三餸車仔麵(5/10)$28炸雞脾配薯條(4/10)-早前元創坊舉辦了日本文化祭,場內有由日本遠渡而來的小食店,又有請神儀式的示範,濃濃的文化氣色吸引了小女子。所以,小女子先與男友仔在上環進餐,再到該處拍照,眼見蘇杭街的車仔麵店頗為地道,又有薯條出售,毅然選擇光顧。-小女子與男友仔點了三餸車仔麵,包括$6雞翼尖、$6炸魚皮與$8韮菜豬肉餃,配腩汁湯油麵。先說腩汁湯底,它沒有平日在麵店喝到的腩汁湯味,反而更多是焯麵的鹼水味,雖然也算好喝,但及不上腩汁的惹味。油麵底未有掛湯效果,配料一般,雞翼尖入味且量多,但魚皮有數塊不為鬆脆,應該是存放過久所致。-另外,炸薯條都令小女子大失所望。店員說炸雞脾拼薯條要等候20分鐘,小女子理解它是即叫即炸的,誰知等候了30分鐘、麵也吃光了也未有,追問店員,她說不知炸爐為何未啓,最後等了40分鐘才有。可是,味道令小女子更為失望,雞脾似用了一些香草醃製,味道似燶又帶怪味,愛吃雞皮的小女子也不願吃皮,薯條只放有一點淮鹽,幼身無味。 繼續閱讀

睇返自己的飲食日記,原來3月7日去過呢間店。當日食晏遲,於是去試下新開的車仔麵專家。間店返工時成日經過,牆外有甘小文塗壁,有齊香港特首候選人,仲有美國總統打尖不遂...都幾搞笑,諗住都幾親民?點知坐低就發覺價錢唔多大眾化。大幼麵加四餸,連細零度可樂盛惠$54,仲貴過去大家樂食個鐵板扒餐…麵的份量,算係足夠,整體賣相,都還可以,湯就略嫌過少,可能怕浸腍咗麵條?牛肚$10一份,但未炆腍。腸仔,實無意外,魚蛋、豬皮,不過不失,辣椒油就唔係好勁。不過不失,但有啲肉赤嘅一餐@蘇杭街車仔麵專家 繼續閱讀
