朋友介紹話呢間店唔錯,今日順路經過過來食個lunch,點左順德骨香桂魚卷和欖菜肉碎炒飯,桂魚卷啲魚肉好嫩滑,味道唔錯,個炒飯好香,欖菜的香味比較濃,炒飯粒粒分明,而且調味恰到好處,唔會覺得鹹,整體上覺得可以。

這幾天要去聖約翰救傷隊入面上堂,連續上了幾天課與同學仔很熟了,便相約一起吃午餐,半山區沒有什麼東西好吃,同學介紹下點一齊去了這間食午餐,叫了鹹蛋肉餅飯,雖然味道不是好味,飯底仲要超梗,但同一班同學開開心心食個午飯都係一個美好的回憶

今日要上三年一次既急救班,每次午餐都係黎呢到,價錢一次貴過一次,今日食左碗菜遠雲吞麵,價值33大元,麵浸到好淋好漲,雲吞細細粒,肉少蝦少,湯頭無味,唔好味,只係為求飽肚。

到特韵飯店吃飯,一定要多人,還有就是預先訂菜,必定能夠吃得很滿足。之前同屋企人到特韵食飯,特別訂了千錘百鍊雞比佢地試下。千錘百鍊雞做得非常好,真的超好吃,聽經理講才知道原來製作過程非常複雜,醃八小時之後蒸至兩成熟,然後煙燻至八成熟,最後以豉油皇焗至全熟,上桌時散發著濃濃的煙燻香味,肉質嫩滑,絕不肥膩,除了煙燻香味,還有豉油皇的香甜極富層次感,全桌人也大讚好吃。我最喜歡黃金明珠肉餅,蒸水蛋之中是一座寶塔形狀的肉餅,頂上是一個咸蛋黃。蒸水蛋配以肉餅,加上咸蛋黃,配合得非常好,好味道最估唔道既係特韵自製的合桃酥,熱辣辣,鬆化少甜,也很不錯。一個值得再去的地方。

今天是公眾假期,同老婆及女到兵頭花園影相。之後在花園道出口離開。在對面YWCA的特韻食晏。一路上可以推BB車,都幾方便。這邊是酒店下面的中菜廳。叫了牛肉抄菜及肉餅蒸蛋,都幾好,又唔駛等位,同可以望見公園翠綠,及中環景色。食完又送喳喳,唔錯!如果揸車,送兩小時泊車。

昨天應邀朋友的生日飯局......在一個很特別的飯店, 第一個印象是很Grand, 有酒店中菜廳的氣派, 卻菜價很公道, 真材實料, 不浮跨, 聽說大廚頗有來頭, 經理又介紹我們一些撚手私房菜, 似乎很吸引, 朋友是常客, 已安排下次飯局試下其他名菜, 好期待下個月再訪, 一定要早D上來, 順道遊覽下政府山的景物啊! 那兒有點隱世的感覺, 環境很寧靜, 可以慢慢食細細傾, 沒有一般酒樓的壓迫感和喧鬧。其實飯店距離中環很近, 當晚, 我們吃完晚飯, 一行五人漫步穿過動植物公園, 不消十五分鐘就落到蘭桂芳。多謝 Joe 的好介紹, 也很值得向同事推介下, 可以放工即刻上來, 連 Happy hour 都可以慳番, very nice! 好一個完美的生日飯局喔! http://www.theonehk.hk.........連個名都好易記 The One Restaurant ~~~hahaha

This restaurant is hidden from sight and has 2 sections. One is a fast food outlet selling rice boxes and similar items but the entrance from the lobby of the YWCA Hotel leads to a very spacious and comfortable restaurant nicely decorated offering many good traditional Cantonese dishes. It has been a year since I first came here, again hosted by my foodie cousin. This time I brought a real camera and didn't have to take pictures with my phone. So I think it deserves another review since it seems

So I think it deserves another review since it seems to be a restaurant very little known.

The first dish was a very impressive dish of giant prawns sauteed in soy sauce with deep fried rice noodle slices underneath. It is rare to see such huge prawns served in Cantonese dishes.

Then it was snake soup served with all the correct condiments. I never know whether it's the soup I like or the crunchy fried snacks that you put on top that makes me like this dish. Anyway, the soup was nicely flavoured , hot and well seasoned. A nice surprise!

The third dish is also one of my favourite dishes. Braised golden oysters. These are oysters that are semi dried and braised in a sweet and savoury sauce. It has been a long time since I have had golden oysters and I almost forgot that this dish existed. Again, it was cooked really nicely and so far the meal was very impressive

Next was a steamed fish. With the fish came the manager of the restaurant and chef to check if everything was all right. It isn't common for a Chinese restaurant chef to come out to greet customers, so it was a nice touch. We found that he used to work for the Maxim group and he told us that the fish was a deep sea fish, not a bred fish and so tastes much more fresh. The taste of the sauce was just right but I found the fish a bit overcooked. By this time, I was also a bit full.

There was only a little space for the braised duck which is a dish that Lin Hueng Restaurant does very nicely. I have the say the one that night was delicious too. Really showed the chef is experienced and skilled. Too full and so had only a little.

The last dish was a big plate of fried Kai Lan vegetables. Not overcooked, very green and refreshing. Ate a lot even though I was more than full

Dessert was almond cream with egg white. Luckily I am not fond of sweet soupy desserts, so could give this a miss. The soup seems very smooth unlike in some of the other Cantonese restaurants I have visited where the egg white is in lumps in the soup. I am not sure which way diners usually prefer it. Then there were some fruits which I helped myself to.

I could always depend on my experienced foodie cousin to find interesting places serving delicious food whenever she organises a dinner gathering. So we had a very nice evening of good food and good company. If you happen to be in the MacDonnell Road area and want a good Cantonese meal, here is where you are sure to find one.

因事需到麥當勞道一趟,事前到女青的特韵食坊吃了一頓quick dinner。晚上食品選擇不多,只有燒味及炒粉麵兩大類。價錢三四+元一碟,不連飲品,計及餐廳格局,感覺有啲貴。食物方面,在沒有太多選擇下,點了一客叉燒飯。叉燒及飯分開上,叉燒偏瘦,肉味口感亦算過得去。白飯很大碗,一定吃得飽。一間那麼普通的餐廳,不明白網上評分為何那麼高?

I never knew there is a Chinese restaurant at the YWCA and depending on which entrance you come through, you will either enter into the restaurant or into a fast food area. When you go in through the right entrance, you will find a nicely decorated restaurant with full length windows with a view of Garden Road and the Botanical Gardens opposite.

We were invited to come here for dinner by my cousin who always seem to have lots of insider tips to good food.

There were 12 of us and we started off with a huge lobster served on a bed of deep fried rice noodle squares. We each had many pieces of lobster and there was still lobster left but the rice noodle squares soaked with the delicious sauce were all gone.


Next was Buddha jump over the fence soup in individual earthenware bowls. Inside was a small abalone, chicken, Chinese ham, fish buoy, scallops and all sorts of goodies which made the soup taste like rich essence of chicken with a fragrant seafood smell. That was so warming for a winter's night like tonight. I was almost full by this stage.

The fish is a fresh water one and it must have been huge. The huge plate was only 1/3 of the big fish and this was cooked in pickled black olives, black bean with bean curd puffs in a soy based sauce. Not being a great fan of freshwater fish, I had a few more bean curd puffs which tasted beany and fresh.

My favourite dish was the smoked chicken
. As soon as the waiter put the dish down, I could smell the smoky tea flavour of the chicken and the appearance was appetising too. The whole chicken was fanned out with the liver, heart and gizzard sliced and put on the top. The colour of the chicken was a chestnut brown and looked like the chicken had been well marinated. I had had a similar dish at Wun Sha Kitchen in Tai Hang but this had a stronger and more appetising smell.

Then there was crab meat baked in egg in a big clay pot with minced pork nicely browned in the oven. I have never had this dish before. It reminds me a bit of the baked fish intestine in egg dish but with crab it was better as crab has a sweet seafood taste.

Then bean shoots were cooked with goiza berry, gingko nuts and lily bulb in stock. So very healthy and refreshing after a heavy meal.

The last dish was fried glutinous rice. Normally this is a very filling dish but somehow the rice they used was not as sticky as usual and the Chinese sausage was not fatty. There were also some small white peanuts and tiny dried shrimps in the mix. I finished my portion and I saw some having second helpings.

Dessert was a bit disappointing. Sweet tong yuen in ginger soup. The soup was not strong enough in ginger nor was it sweet enough and the dumplings were ordinary. Anyway, the whole meal was so filling and satisfying, I didn't need much dessert. The portions were huge and we didn't finish any of the dishes.

This place is definitely pearl hidden under straw and I am not sure I should have reviewed it. But then it is too good a place not to have better business.
