Sunday Food Day.Environment & Hygiene:I think this place used to be a Thai restaurant. The interior was still very new looking, but was kinda messy maybe because it is still being set up. Hygiene was okay, but I saw the server cutting green peppers on a cutting board on one of the tables, which didn't seem too appropriate. Service:We were the second table that arrived at lunch. There was only one server working, and she worked kinda slow. At first, she just focused on the first table, and made us wait until she was done serving the first table. It was kinda weird because it was like she couldn't serve us both at the same time. However, both Cantonese and English were a second and third language to her so I really appreciated the fact that she tried her best. Taste & Value:Bascially, there are 2 types of curry. One was just curry, and the other was Hainan Curry. Then, after choosing your curry, you can choose the spicy level of the curry ( not for Hainan though). It ranged from the 1 star Cadet level, which is suitable for anyone, to the 5 star Iron Man level, which is suitable for the King of spiciness. Both my sister and I ordered a lunch set ($45), which came with a seaweed soup. It's been a long time since I've had Chinese seaweed, so I enjoyed it. The soup was clear, but maybe a bit overseasoned because it was a bit salty. On the menu, the left side was the regular curry, and the right was Hainan. I chose the a Level 2 Curry Garoupa Rice. I love how they served the rice. It was like a well, where you could put the curry inside. However, that hole in the middle meant a lot less rice because of the missing centre. I usually wouldn't comment on the rice, but I really liked their rice. I think it was an Indian Rice because of how fluffy it was and relatively drier texture. Now to the curry, it was good too, because I could taste that it was different from other curry I have had. I'm not one to eat food that is too spicy, but I think I could have handled a Level 3. Inside the curry, there were a few chunks of fish. I was expecting it to be deep- fried fish, but it was just plainly fried, and was just soso. However, this curry was not bad overall. My sister chose a Hainan Curry Beef Rice. I tried it and personally liked it more than my own actually. It was not spicy and was quite sweet and flavourful; almost like Thai Yellow Curry. There was quite a lot of beef and the beef was tender. When we ordered our curry, we got convinced into ordering their Indian Naan Bread ($26). There were 6 pieces served with some curry on the side, like my curry sauce. I thought the bread was soso because it wasn't fluffy. It was more like a fried buttered tortilla to me. For your information, you can add a pop or hot drink for $5, or orange juice and other cold drinks for $7.Final Verdict:I quite liked their curry, so I would go again.
