I came to this area to escape the bustling city and while I was exploring this side of Hong Kong, I noticed how very peaceful and serene Siu Sai Wan is. Sure this place may seem empty and boring, but to me, this is a place I'd very much like to go to when I need to clear my mind from all the headaches that I get in the city 24/7. Such as young adults walking super slow, couples go coo at each other this blocking the pathway, or kids being overly excited or bawl so loudly give me even more headaches after coming back from work that I want to leave the city and find somewhere peaceful to live. After exploring Siu Sai Wan Plaza, I noticed this stall is having so many people dining in and taking their orders out. It's located outside a wetmarket so it's pretty visible. I thought of trying their meals. Pork chop noodles ($21) with hot soybean pudding ($7). Of course, prices here are cheaper compared to the city and probably the quality can't compare Centrals' where one of the poshest fancy food gather. Pork chop is tender and juicy. Nothing much to say besides that I didn't know 撈麵 meant instant noodles. I thought it was 公仔麵. I didn't care much what kind of noodles came out to be honest. Unfortunately, the soybean pudding didn't come out as good as the pork chop noodles. I've tried many soybean puddings in some other countries apart from HK. Among all of them, this is probably the worst, if not, close to the worst I've ever tasted. It wasn't gritty, but it wasn't silky smooth either. To me, the quality of beans used was inferior compared to the ones I've tried. It should have felt like eating smooth pudding but it's more like it got cooked inside their pot too long that it tasted like the deep fried tofu. And because it seems that their pudding was cooked too long, there was also tofu skins on topped of this soybean pudding...I was really disappointed because I expected a good ending to my meal - and I really love soybean pudding too. But then again, this is originally a snack shop selling deep fried bell peppers, curry cuttlefish balls, and sandwiches then added some extras later on. So I shouldn't have expected so much I guess.…查看更多
