今日黎左依到食飯一開始就飲左個細細碗既味增湯,味道都唔錯。有幾幾片薄薄既綠色海帶,仲有少少豆腐,攪攪個底D味增浮哂上面,賣相唔錯,咸咸地既湯汁之中仲食到非常濃既豆腐味,不過個陣對獨特既豆腐香真係好討人喜歡~之後我就叫左個甜蝦帶子為主既SET,先講講個沙律先,佢用酸酸甜甜既泡菜汁,不過又無韓式個種咁辣同刺激,酸酸地咁的確既開胃既,而且又幾爽口;另外仲有芥末,不過可以自己加,奶白色薑片係幾靚既,不過可惜我唔食既,紫菜絲就無咩味,只係裝飾喇,依個重點係大大粒既新鮮帶子,完完整整放係你面前等你食,肉質都夠哂厚實,夠哂彈牙,食落有絲絲既肉質,真係非常滿足;另外個甜蝦都係好正,吸哂D醬汁帶出個鮮甜味,加埋芥末醬同飯粒好正,滑滑地口感唔錯,芥末耐唔耐刺激下,幾正。

大約在年半前見這店一到晚餐時段例必有一條長龍, 有本地人亦有自由人, 往往看見人龍已經不想跟隊了, 因為知道排得到佢都收工啦, 時日一天一天的過漸漸由長龍變短龍,再由短龍變無龍, 這也是香港食肆的一般頻律, 最初的時候日日爆場, 但能維持到一年時間已經算不錯的了, 而我們則在年多後才幫襯第一次,主要賣套餐, 大致分為:淨食炸物的套餐同有壽司加炸物的套餐, 兩款相差價錢不遠, 所以我們選了跟壽司的套餐, 只是兩個套餐的豬扒有所不同, 一隻是加拿大來的而另一隻則是日本來的, 兩隻在口感上的分別是日本的因為油脂分佈比較均勻咬下去時鬆軟一點, 而加國的則硬一點因為脂肪不多的關係, 而尺碼偏細則已經是現今每一間食肆的通病, 就當是店方為客人健康着想吧! 想法無疑是有點阿Q, 而配豬扒食的汁只有一種再沒有分什麼”濃口” 或者”淡口”的了, 椰菜沙律的椰菜絲未算新鮮切出來那種, 因為見待應加椰菜沙律時只是在客人身後的一個架上攞一碟椰菜絲沙律落嚟加俾客人, 即係話一早切好放在一邊, 注意還是放於廳面的一角, 這樣做無疑是手到拿來但就會由它風乾, 同時給客人看到這種運作始終感覺不太良好, 壽司唔算太突出

服務方面: 有個男待應吐字含糊不清, 基本上是客人估佢講乜? 而到差不多打咩時, 經理用雞毛掃之類的物體去打掃天花板的出風口, 但當其時還有客人在座, 簡直可以說是”趕客奇葩”, 難怪看食友們的不滿意食評可以這麼多, 亦明白為何客人数目銳減的原因了, 而好多時有壽司吧的店好多時會有一個幣病, 就係生意唔多時, 員工有乜可以做? 清潔工具? 非也! 梗係攞部手機出來忘情的”襟””襟”再”襟”無視所有座吧枱嘅客人,何等專業態度可見一班, 請到咁嘅經理/員工老板們有福了, 看來租約期滿老板都會考慮是否繼續供養呢班員工了,
衛生方面當日所見未見”小強出沒”, 一般吧!
來這樣的店一次夠了, 外面選擇多的是,
普通到不行的壽司

在海港城找餐廳, 偶爾行過吉列派, 門面裝修不錯, 餐牌上的食物也很吸引. 等食物時間尚算快, 但食物到來後, 發現與照片相差甚遠, 無論賣相擺設及大小, 都不吸引, 味道一般水準, 吉列豬扒算是招牌食品, 尚算鬆脆, 但不夠乾爽, 鵝肝肉餅飯肉餅鬆散, 鵝肝味道ok, 不算難食, 壽司賣相及味道均在水準之下, 比街外10元8塊的壽司更差, 以此地點及價錢來說, 實在不值。而服務認真麻麻, 餐廳經理完全不理客人, 漠視客人的存在, 一路與bar枱內的員工傾計, 當中夾雜很多粗口, 還要是很難聽那種, 聲音又大, 很難想像一間在海港城的食肆, 水準會那麼低, 不可能再幫襯!!!!

此店在海港城算受歡迎,有大玻璃窗,看到藍天碧海,下午二,三時,也坐着為數不少的食客,主打曰式料理如炸豬扒,刺身,火鍋及鐵板燒,我想包羅萬有是此店的賣點吧。門面貼着介紹餸式的精美圖片,齋看相片款款也極吸引,心想先小試牛刀,若好吃的話,就會多個飯局好地方了。叫套餐可以較便宜的價錢點一些在餐牌上的食品。我想試試此店的天婦羅及鐵板燒,故以$28一份,加配兩款小食。天婦羅熱辣辣,算脆及油份不太多,但過厚的粉槳没有丁點兒味道,魷魚鬚像白烚過一樣,也淡而無味,便沾天婦羅汁再吃,怎料汁也是無甚味道,反而墊底的洋蔥圈粉槳薄薄的,在口腔渗出天然的甜味。再上鐵板燒蠔,瀬卢內海的燒蠔,咬下有甜味但同時腥味也重,故大打折扣,拌菜雜菌卻鮮甜惹味,又一次配菜比主角吸引!便當一盒有五格,包括沙律,前菜,漬物,煮物及蛋絲肉醬燒雞翼飯,也跟一碗麵豉湯。沙律不過不失,有生菜青瓜及車厘茄,可加放在桌上的柚子醋提鲜,會美味許多!前菜是蛋漿煎玉子豆腐,簡單香口。令人較難接受的應是蘿蔔雲耳煮物,因每塊白蘿蔔件及雲耳也掛着一層放涼了且無味的白漿糊狀的芡汁。幸而,香辣肉醬惹味好送飯,燒雞翼表皮香脆,表面灑上蒜鹽,肉仍有肉汁,也滲出淡淡

叫左饅魚飯,三文魚沙律,帶子,牡丹蝦刺身。好快有得食,不過沙律好凍,睇清楚原來所有菜仲係結緊冰。期待的鰻魚飯都唔好食,冇汁,的飯好似用微波爐番叮咁。又乾又硬。不過都肯換,換左都係無乜汁,吹漲!

Out of the frying pan:

My wife wanted to try the lunch menu of Niji Bistro around the corner. We were a bit late so the lunch menu had been swapped. (I was secretly glad that it did as I'm not a big fan of Omurice
) so we entered this to try it out.

I just left my guard off a bit and did not check Open Rice before I enter this restaurant.

Little did I realize that we jumped out of the frying pan

and into the fire...

...



The power of suggestion?

There was a huge queue even at 3 p.m. despite tons of free seats at counter. I found that a bit strange.

Anyway, we approached and then the manager (?) in front gave me a ticket without asking anything.

If you're handed a ticket, most people's reflex action is to wait until the number is called. This strategy didn't work for me, a rather troublesome person at the best of times.


I asked him about those counter seats. Then he said we could get those if we wanted to. He said to himself (or to us) "Why didn't anyone (點解冇人) take counter seats?" (He might have said "No one (冇人) take counter seats." but I'll give him the benefit of doubt.)

After we sat, other counter seats were allocated to other customers as well. So the answer to his philosophical question is simple: He didn't ask.

I'm sure he was not trying to reduce customer turnovers to reduce his workload, and not trying to exploit the possible ignorance or placidness of customers who might be mainly tourists with language barriers..

Menu:

The nicely designed menu had the following sections:

- Pork cutlets (Japanese Miyazaki cutlets or Canadian pork cutlets);
- Fried prawns set;
- Fried sea food platter for two person (it appears to be two prawns and a piece of fried salmon) No scallops.

All cutlet sets came with Miso Soup, a Bowl of Rice and pickled items - standard stuff. No unlimited refill like in Saboten or Tonkatsu.

- Bento boxes: About 5-6 types of bento: Prawn tempura bento, Angus Steak Bento, US Burger Bento, Salmon Bento and others which didn't leave an impression.



I ordered the HIPpest set 101: Miyazaki Pork Cutlet set (HK$138) Apparently a signature set of HIP.

My wife ordered American Angus Steak Set ($96) She wasn't asked how she'd like the steak to be cooked nor did she specify. We later learnt from the receipt that it's 70% cooked (medium?) by default.



Miso Mishaps.

The miso soup appeared on our side suddenly without any warning and before anything else:

and without any lid on the bowl. Very strange.


What's that big spoon for? One's not supposed to use a spoon to drink miso soup - just chopsticks. If HIP is professing to be an authentic Japanese restaurant, they should know this. That's basic.


The taste was fine with tofu and kelp.

The moment you see three pieces of fried tamago tofu (egg tofu) used as part of the bento box, you'll lower your expectations immediately. Coupled with the completely tasteless and limp turnip dish on the top right hand corner, you'll start asking yourself why you didn't stop at the food court.

According to my wife, the Angus steak was edible - but quite tough. The rice wasn't Japanese rice and didn't have much taste wherever the rice grains were from. At least the pickled turnips were fine, unlike mine.

Am I being too picky about food presentation or am I just a philistine unable to appreciate the HIP way of setting the table?

My set was spread over the length of two seats.


The waitress simple placed everything everywhere and made no attempt to organize things even just a bit.

Never mind that. Sometimes, if you change your perspective, things actually aren't such a big deal. A similar sentiment is like when you watch a B-grade movie that's so bad that it's actually funny.


I'm prepared. Let's see what they could throw at yours truly:

Condiments:

Forget about the DIY sesame, unlimited free rice or lettuce you get in Ginza Bairin, Saboten, Tonkichi or Romankan Yokohama.

They have yuzu vinegar sauce for the salad. That wasn't anything like the olive oil infused black vinegar at Saboten. This was just bland vinegar sauce with a hint of yuzu. No complaints but nothing exciting either.

The sauce for the katsu was really average supermarket grade stuff which was a bit stale too. Even the supermarket grade sauce taste a bit fresher than those here.

Another problem I have was that I wasn't even provided with a small dish for any sauce. Pouring the sauce directly on the pork cutlet wasn't desirable as the batter will become too soggy if I pour it too early. On the other hand, it's too troublesome if I pour after every bite or two.

The other jar was just shoyu.

Back to the pork cutlet itself.

I have to say that this piece of cutlet, which was as expensive as the "Big Boys" mentioned above, was quite a disappointment.


The batter was fine, crunchy and not oily, but the meat was too tough and didn't have much meat taste. Any one of the restaurants mentioned above serve better pork cutlet than here. It's the worse amongst the Japanese cutlets I've tried. The size was also smaller than average. Almost 25% smaller than what I had at Tonkichi.

The lettuce was fine but, like I have mentioned above, the yuzu sauce was quite bland and didn't match too well with the lettuce. It was a bit too sour.

The rice was again not Japanese rice, bland and tasteless.

But what was funny was that the pickled turnip - the yellow, crunchy things to eat with rice - usually the last thing to go wrong, did go wrong!


It was completely not crunchy at all. Instead, it was soggy and did not taste refreshing at all - most likely not preserved properly. I gave a piece to my wife and she also found it not acceptable. The burdock was similarly bad. I can't imagine how pickled items could go wrong like this.


I still finished the whole set because I didn't want to waste any food. While I was trying hard to do so, I was thinking about another philosophical question:

Is it the chef's fault or the customer's fault if the food could not be finished due to bad cooking?





Conclusion:

I'd say it's OK if I was served this meal in a causal restaurant not purporting to be a Japanese restaurant for HK$50. However, they charged me "expert" price but gave me amateur results, including unprofessional service throughout the meal.

Like I said, sometimes a B-grade movie could be so bad that it's funny. But paying more than HK$150 for the cutlet set wasn't. A crying face it has to be.

Not recommended.

又係無去fb睇評語的後果。先講食物質素,飯不熱、吉列扒細。失望不過好食都無用,重點係服務質素。差差差差我和老公二人去到時已有人等位。有個四眼阿叔負責派飞帶位。佢問我地介唔介意坐吧枱,如果唔係就要等好耐。OK..我地唔介意,入去坐好左,見到入面仲有好多二人枱,咁好聲好氣問下阿叔可唔可以調過去啦!佢好不客氣話出面有人等緊,一係叫我地出去排過。但後來我都聽到外面等位啲人問阿叔入面明明有位點知佢又好不客氣咁答人話有位會「請」你入去。吹脹。中途有客人落左單後想改單,佢又表現不耐兼大大聲同佢同事講嘢暗示啲客麻煩。又叫個同事同番個客講要起碼再等多二十分鐘,跟住位同事又唔記得問個改單客份牛要几成熟。佢叫個同事點都要問到答案,又再一次大大聲話「啲客講完唔認數架!」食飯過程,四眼阿叔又同另一位黑衣阿叔講話有管理層發現openrice有人反應服務態度要改善。對話中,經常爆粗……無奈!其實我地只係咁啱坐正門口對住吧枱,成餐飯佢又不停大聲講不話氣說話。環境再好都無用,大排檔服務質素分分鐘好過佢,唉!!希望管理層好好正視問題。

食飯過程,四眼阿叔又同另一位黑衣阿叔講話有管理層發現openrice有人反應服務態度要改善。
對話中,經常爆粗……無奈!

其實我地只係咁啱坐正門口對住吧枱,成餐飯佢又不停大聲講不話氣說話。
環境再好都無用,大排檔服務質素分分鐘好過佢,唉!!

希望管理層好好正視問題。

侍應黑口黑面,原本諗住叫吉列豬扒,佢話要等十幾分鐘,叫便當會快啲。我就叫左咖哩牛脷飯便當。等左十幾二十分鐘,就叫侍應幫我催下,佢居然話要等最少二十五分鐘就走左去啦。食物勁差,麵豉湯同煎豆腐係凍嘅,咖哩裏面啲薯仔係白色嘅,咁都要等二十五分鐘?!?!😡

每次經過都想試試這間料理,今日竟令人更奇失望。首先,由兩位粗聲粗氣的港式茶餐廳侍應叔叔帶位入位。如果我們身處於係茶餐廳的話,我會樂意接受這種服務。可是在這日本料理店總是格格不入。我們點了一個吉列豬柳餐轉蜆肉味噌湯 and一個西冷牛鐵板餐轉烏冬。餐到啦!齋看我拍相片也令人大感失望!極多油,唔熱, 冇一般鐵板餐熱騰騰的效果...咬落去..d肉更硬更難食,又無肉味。連簡單的蒜片煎也不夠香口至於吉列豬柳定食一般吉列店的做法是點餐後立馬便先上白芝麻給客人磨磨過過手癮.但一直都沒有上芝麻,便以為這店子是沒有這玩意.直至豬柳到了,看看隔離台才發現我們的芝麻未到,侍應才慢慢送上.直到我磨好芝麻,豬柳已涼了...生菜絲不新鮮,而且又切得粗,硬得來又乾乾的,沒有鮮甜爽口的感覺.白飯是珍珠米可是煮得硬硬乾乾的,勁難食主角吉列豬柳,肉質硬而有點雪味.炸粉也跟肉80%分離....食完了台面上的,雖然飯跟生菜絲可以REFILL...但我已經一點食慾也沒有...由味噌湯升級的蜆肉味噌的蜆肉全都是完全無味道之餘還是梅梅爛爛的Ps:這裡的待應服務其差!除左粗聲粗氣外,仲經常漏單!一開頭漏左比芝麻給我們外,仲漏左上蜆肉湯

至於吉列豬柳定食
一般吉列店的做法是點餐後立馬便先上白芝麻給客人磨磨過過手癮.
但一直都沒有上芝麻,便以為這店子是沒有這玩意.
直至豬柳到了,看看隔離台才發現我們的芝麻未到,侍應才慢慢送上
.直到我磨好芝麻,豬柳已涼了...


生菜絲不新鮮,而且又切得粗,硬得來又乾乾的,沒有鮮甜爽口的感覺.
白飯是珍珠米可是煮得硬硬乾乾的,勁難食

食完了台面上的,雖然飯跟生菜絲可以REFILL...但我已經一點食慾也沒有...

由味噌湯升級的蜆肉味噌的蜆肉全都是完全無味道之餘還是梅梅爛爛的


Ps:這裡的待應服務其差!除左粗聲粗氣外,仲經常漏單!一開頭漏左比芝麻給我們外,仲漏左上蜆肉湯。
要求加水更以粗暴對待茶杯!嚇親

唔想食city super food court, 行經呢間比佢d 相吸引左, 食個quick dinner~~menu內選擇頗多而且圖片精美,最後叫左黑豚肉漢堡定食,加$10 轉左野菌飯:真實賣相還算ok, 除左黑豚肉漢堡係熱既, 定食盒內全部野都係凍,而且無應有既味道, 淡而無味, 而個野菌飯只係暖, 又無咩野菌,加$10好唔抵~主菜兩舊黑豚肉漢堡算係最好食,多汁,送飯還可以~~只可話相片太吸引

The eel came first and the eel itself is tangy while the eel body is slim and boneless. One of the surprises of the pork katsu bento was that it is cooked when ordered.
The golden crust covers up the pork within. The crust is not over-fried as it sticks together.
The meat structure of the cutlet is clear and detailed while the meat/fat proportion of the cutlet is satisfactory. When you took a bite, you will feel that its moisture is adequate.
Remember, don’t forget to put the sauce on the katsu for seasoning!!!

For both bento sets, they came with miso soup and appetizers
such as tofu, daikon, Japanese style salad (in Citron dressing), Tsukemono (Japanese style marinated vegetables) which is quite complete. After all, you can find a standardized Japanese meal in this restaurant.

行經海港城, 選擇了有海景的吉列 派 Hip Katsu 食lunch。 我同先生都沒點吉列, 因為怕熱氣, 最後點了醬汁三文魚海鮮飯定食(細) $48 & 安格斯牛扒定食(半熟) $98。三片三文魚每片灸了一半,配上些少黃色芥末醬,加上由那撮新鮮磨的WASABI拌好的魚生醬油,好味夠fresh的輕食,三文魚夠新鮮! 推介! 香瓜菜、味噌湯、派式沙律都OK - 沙律汁D芝麻好香!我先生點的安格斯牛扒定食,除了香瓜菜、味噌湯、派式沙律,還配了野菜煮和玉子燒都算OK,但那安格斯牛扒無味之餘,還有點韌有點鞋,唔推介!
