It's mid-week and I am in need of something stimulating to brighten my palate. This is one of our favourite neighborhood restos that serves broiled fish in Sichuan soup with pickled mustard greens. Tonight I tried the seabeam: de-boned, well-sliced, skin-on, in-between tender and chewy. Really good fish, and my broth was the lemon sour pickles soup, in a yellowy greenish hue. The sourness from the lemon, and spiciness from the dry chillies, made my day. I sweated while slurping the sweet potato starch noodles, they were exactly what I needed after a long day of work. We also tried the signature fish maw and chicken soup, paired with rice. This soup was extremely comforting, and good for the ladies. To my surprise, the gist of this dish was the bunch of beautiful orange goji berries on the top, THEY WERE SO SWEET AND FRESH, mmm I enjoyed these little bits so much.Shared a few sides to call it a night, we had tempura shrimps and pork cutlet, both were absolutely fresh and crunchy, generously drizzled with mayonnaise. The numbing lotus roots with marinated pig liver, and marinated century eggs, were staples here as they are authentically Sichuan flavoured.
