Obviously this is the the most efficient and cost effective way. Peeling real potatoes, chipping and frying them from scratch would take much too much time and would cost much much more.Really appreciate the effort the vendors have put in and keeping the price point low, it does appeal to the mass market. And he was finishing off.Ordered the butter ramen and the fried rce set.The ramen came with the usual char siu and corn and a large knob of Hokkaido butter. The onions and spring onions aplenty. The soup was a white bone stock with white miso and garlic oil. It was strong, full of flavour just like the ones I've had in Sapporo. Popped in for lunch previously for a chicken tikka kebab. Through th lettuce you can spot some chicken in there, wasn't a lot. But OK for $48 with a drink.Saturday went for some lamb vindaloo and naan. The naan was done just right, a little crispy, not burnt. The lamb was tender and with the spicey curry it was a mouthful. Good taste. There was excess sauce, so I aked them to pack it for me to take home. Chicken tikka was also tender, sizzling on its hotplate as it arrived. Had that with vegetable byriani. The rice, quite a large portion, was well spiced and tasted good.If you arrive just after 6pm, you can be seated right away. At one time we arrived a little late, so it was full. We went across the road to Smart Pepperoni and ordered the curries from there. The restaurants are owned by the same people, so their food and seating can be interchangeable. Arriving at 11:40, it was easy to get seated.Ordered the white 叉燒拉麵, pork bone soup.black 叉燒拉麵, roasted garlic soup.The ramen was actually the thick type that you'd find in many other places and need to bite harder. The charsiu was thick cut, tender, tasty. The spring onion atop of that was plentiful and really went well with the soup.The white soup was very tasty, quite salty too, in contrast to my black garlic soup, which had less in body. Sunday lunch. Arrived to join the queue before they opened. Didin't get in first round to had to wait 35 mins for the next.Haing got in, we quickly ordered the Kyushu ramen 九州拉麵、and charsiu ramen 叉燒拉麵, spicey miso. Watching the ramen chefs mix the soup and cook the ramen, I was impressed with their speed and efficiency. The ramen came very quickly and the toppings were quite generous. Having gone through most of the bowl, I found that there was still quite a bit left. This ramen shop's portions are large in comparison to others of the same quality bracket.Extraordinary aspects- Large servings- charsiu burnt outside and tender inside. Have you noticed? The menu, the decor, the layout is exactly the same as Jordan Curry House aka New Dehli for some reason. With this thought in mind, I meandered in for lunch. Lamb curry set at $60, <gulp> 60? OK lets have it, even though the place was empty, but hey! I'm game for adventure.As it turned out, it was the usual fare. Boiled meat retrieved from a pot and covered in generic brown curry sauce. Order your meat, the curry will cover the taste. Only, the meat is so miniscule that you'd have trouble for it not to fall between your fork prongs. There were 4 small pieces in the bowl. The rice that came with it was actually to my liking. It was miniature. OK, so they're helping me with my diet.For the price, I was very disappointed with what I got. There is something at work here. They are not promoting their heritage for excellent cuisine.Modus OperandiI can only think that being on the ladies street market, they are targeting tourists who for some unknown reason would want to eat indian curry in Hong Kong, the gastronomical capital of the world. Bombay's old location suffered from being next to Ah Lung and really expensive rent. The place was full most evenings but still the rent killed it. To my delight, they have re-opened on Temple Street.I went for my usual bellwether dish, the Seekh kebab. As I remembered it, it was moist, steamy succulent served atop cabbage and raw onions cooking on the hotplate. It came exactly as I remembered, except it was a lesser meal that it had been. Being a small place on the ground corner of the OC2 mall, this place has fewer seats than my car. And when I visited there were empty seats available too. But still, I opted for take out.The FoodSpaghetti Carbonara. A standing item on my must try meals. The bacon bits were plentiful, so too the mushrooms and these were blended in a creamy sauce that mixed well with the spaghetti. It lacked the parmesan taste that spells quality ingredients, but what can you do? The price was very reasonable at $45 and it was of a good quality. Risotto al funghi. If I cooked this myself, I'd put tonnes of assorted mushrooms in it with self grated reggiano parmigiano, and of course half a bottle of white wine. But this is a fast food place and prices are cheap, so ingredients have to match the budget. And they did it well. There was an assortment of mushrooms, nothing extravagant, just the local mushrooms that one can come by in Hong Kong, and the rice was cooked on the other side of al dente. Superb. Crusty and soft on the other side. The salad was manly. Manly enough even for me. Why manly? Well, it was very tangy and had raw red onions all over the place. I went for lunch wanting to try khoon chen na praa, 蝦刺身. But it was off the menu, so I had the 海南雞飯.The set came with soup and drink, I had lungan ice.The soup wak OK, nothing special, but the chicken rice that followed was. Large moist, tasty pieces of chicken leg off the bone atop oiled rice.I usually eat all the chicken first with the tamarind sauce. And I did. Then I add all the sauces into the rice and eat that. The lady, having seen me do this and seeing that I could do with more sauce, brought some in a bowl. Wow, attentive.The dish was rather large, but I eventually managed to finish it without blowing a gasket. And then the lady brought over a bowl of sago糖水, I think for entertaining her with my eating. But that was nice and I managed that too.Having a brief chat with them while recovering, I'm glad they moved from Kowloon City. I'm glad they are hidden away in Tai Kok Tsui. Surprisingly, there are numerous places in Tai Kok Tsui which serve mention worthy burgers. This newest addition has taken top spot for me.The lamb burger is juicy, tender and topped with a great sauce.The angus burger is a good grade beef, with that lovely charbroiled taste.I often have to choose between having the lamb or the angus, but when I'm super hungry, I go for the lamb with an extra angus patty on top.…查看更多

Maybe they didn't like taking food to people or maybe they just didn't like people. Anyway these managed to give the ugliest service I have had for a long time. I've been looking forward to an Indian restaurant opening in TKT. now that's it's here, I had to give it a try. Lunch time, I got the last remaining seat inside. Ordered the lamb biryani. 10 minutes later it arrived with a salad and a drink. The salad was fresh, no dark leaves. Clean fresh tasting. The lamb in the biryani was moist tender and hot. Very good. Nice day to sit outside.Ordered the curry mutton with iced tea. It took about 10 minutes to arrive.Although there were quite a few bits, the mutton had a lot of bone and some skin. The curry (claimed Pakistani) was a localised version of a mild currry. But it tasted good. With the raw onions, it was quite good. Only wished they put more onions in.
