The food is always good, the service is the best you can find in DB, and the wine card is interesting enough to always go for that rather than Singha! As a regular you are welcomed everytime you come and when you bring children they are well taken care of ("You want a bowl of steam rice NOW for the little one? One moment please... Here you go. Would you like to order something to drink?") We go here often and these are some of our favorites: for starters the vegtable spring rolls, the chicken in panadus leaves, the satay are all very authentic. The Tom Yum soup, the Cucumber salad, the green papaya salad are great too. The minced beef in chili and basil, the duck red curry, the seafood fried rice in whole pineapple, the ... Nice location with view over Discovery Bay and the Beach. Getting the afternoon sun but it disappears behind the mountains after 5pm. Friendly service - particularly once you know the staff by name ("Would you like the usual?" rates highly in my book) although rarely fast or attentive. Food is European classic fares (burger, pasta, fish n' chips), the wines are Australian chardonnay / shiraz etc. Beer is cold and they can mix the usual cocktails. We were three people going for early dinner midweek. We had the Spicy Chicken Wings (good but not spicy), Chicken Quessadillas (soggy), and garlic bread with dips (dips tasted tomade and good). For mains we went Cajun Fish'n'chips (good), burger (v good), Tuna salad (best tasted in HK!). We went for beer and enjoyed the sun setting listening to the rock music of 1988 - 1994... Overall nice outing at a decent price though the waiters need to be more attentive and able to predict the needs of their guests, and while the weekly specials are usually good value the menu hasn't changed since they opened. …查看更多

Discovery Bay's largest restaurant and presumably the main drag for non-DB based guest to come and dine on the "Water Margin". But it is a huge let down. Had they kept it as Jaspa's and branded it Jaspa's Supersize then maybe they would have gotten away with it because at least that is honest. As Zaks however it is a ME TOO! restaurant offering everything anyone could ever want - hence offering nothing of interest for anyone who likes to eat and drink good food. You can get steaks, fish, pasta, pizza, rice dishes, salads, soups - and if you request some sushi I am sure they will send a staff member to park'n'shop for a selection too...The menu card has not changed and when we were there this week I believe the preprinted menus have not been exchanged either since they opened in 2008. We went - again - invited by some friends and this is what we had: for starters ... for mains Ceasr salad with chicken (huge portion with too much dressing), Whole spring chicken (so so), .... From lunching there with girl friends I have two notable exceptions to which the cooks there actually do well: Singapore Noodles and Nasi Goreng. Thanks to the infrastructure making Lower Cheung Sha Beach one of the nicest in Hong Kong, and next door The Stoep pulling in the wekend crowd the Thai Restaurant HIGH TIDE on the beach is a natural, and a complementary addition to the dining scene here. As for The Stoep you eat in your beach gear, sand between your toes, kids running riot, parents chilling out, gweilos trying to get a tan, honkers trying to avoid it, shrieks everyway. We had squid in chilli sauce (great), minced pork meat in lettuce wraps (even better) for starters followed by a green chicken curry (good) and seafood pineapple fried rice (great) with a pint of lager. A diamond in the rough! In the past six years of visiting Mui Wo on occassions this is where we go to eat. And if you haven't been to either well here's the reason you should jump on the ferry and take the trip. The owner / manager is Turkish which guarantees the authenticity and some of the recipees are family heirlooms. We almost always goes for a cold mezze platter and a warm mezze platter (the dolma is fantastic as is the babaganoush) the on very hungry days the chicken and the lamb kebab spears. With extra rice and pita bread this is a feast for four people! Very children friendly and never is a special request for little guests too much trouble - toys can be brought down from the upstairs family residence for the really obnoxiuos ones! Go there. We had the country bread with Tsatsiki (great), Greek salad for starters (good), Grilled sausage with cream potatoes (great), and grilled lamb chops (good)While the orginal South African elements are no longer much in evidence the BBQ, the homemade bread (don't forget to bring home a loaf) and the sheer thrill of eating with sand carressing your feet makes it all the troubles worth to make the treck.
