I don’t post food reviews often, but my dining experience at Carna has left me a great impression. Was here to celebrate my dad’s birthday — greeted at the entrance with a welcome drink and a great smile which started things off on a bright note. Restaurant has a modern and elegant feel, portions were very generous and the highlight of the meal was our server, Isha, who delivered an exceptional level of service. Restaurant is severely understaffed. It was so difficult to get any service/ attention and the brunch we ordered was missing the eggs. We ordered a weekend brunch, roast chicken and lemon earl grey pancakes. The pancakes never arrived until 30 minutes in and I asked the waitress (same person I ordered the pancakes from) if the kitchen is busy and she gave me a look of surprise. Walked into this half empty coffee shop at lunch hour with all seated customers already served their meals. Ordered a takeaway large latte for $58 and ended up waiting for 15 minutes when my order was the only one in the kitchen. When I requested for no plastic bag, I was told by the barista that he recommended I keep it because the plastic lid was ill-fitted and that he warned me to be wary when drinking from the cup in case of spillage. I ended up drinking straight from the cup without the lid and was greeted by the underwhelming sight of a cha-chaan-teng (local fast food restaurant) looking frothless coffee that was scalding hot and nearly had my tongue burnt. I later found out from the menu that I had to add on $5 in order to get foamed milk - seriously? I have already paid $58 for a coffee which is significantly priced above average for the area. The taste was also below mediocre - I could definitely make better coffee at home with my nespresso machine. Will not recommend.…查看更多

Was assigned to work in the area for a day and decided to explore the neighbourhood at lunch time. Stumbled across this famous little coffeeshop - minimalistic decor yet clean and vintage looking, the white and blue logo stood out in the middle of a crowded square. Decided to give their coffee a go - ordered the latte in large size 500ml at $29, very good bang for your buck. I’m a coffee lover although not an expert in any way - found the latte aromatic, comforting and just right in terms of intensity. Worth a visit.…查看更多

One of the worst service experiences I have encountered in a restaurant. Made a dinner booking for 6pm, and was told I have to return the table at 7:30pm (which I thought initially was fair enough since I expected that they might be fully booked and busy). However I showed up seeing quite a number of empty tables around us and despite this, the servers repetitively reminded us of the table return time during the meal (4 times during our meal!) and were in such a hurry collecting our plates - literally right after I took the last bite from my plate with food still in my mouth! The server then placed the bill on my table at 7:20pm when there were still empty tables around and nobody queuing. Such a shame that the service has completely ruined the dining experience since the food was actually quite nice, but not worth enduring such horrible hospitality. Will not return.The food was of average quality, tastes decent but nothing you couldnt find in another restaurant serving italian cuisine. Unfortunately the poor service has made the experience very unpleasant hence earning a low rating. I ordered the fritto misto and the scallop carpaccio. The fritto misto was average fried seafood. Scallop carpaccio was refreshing. For main course I ordered the oxtail ravioli which was average, portion was also small. For dessert I ordered the tiramisu which was also average. The poor rating is well deserved and I think readers should be made aware of this because the overall review on openrice is very misleading. Tucked in a cosy pocket inside Tai Hang - with friendly staff, nice dining experience and good food. Make sure to book beforehand as tables are few. Staff was friendly and helpful, quality of food was definitely up there - bonus was being able to watch the chefs prepare the yakitori. Refreshing and unique marinading of vegetables, combination of food ingredients which was pleasantly surprising. Must try items were the black truffle and fois gras steamed egg custard and the sea urchin with lobster jelly - but the highlight of the night was definitely the black truffle ice cream. Food was high quality so be ready to wait quite a bit in between courses (I went starving and got a bit hangry waiting for food, so maybe dont go on a completely empty stomach 🤪) but the wait was definitely worth it.…查看更多

Ordered the 6-course set menu which was $700+ after service charge; appreciate the creativity and the fact that lots of thought was put into marinating and seasoning the dishes however portions were very small and barely satiating. Taste was mediocre and the japchae was oily and bland tasting. Service was good. Dessert was also disappointing - tasted similar as those packaged snacks you could get at the supermarket.
