When you think dim sum, you think sessions in the morning or afternoon. But there times when you just want dim sum at night. WHAT IS A PERSON TO DO!??! Welcome to Hong Kong. Recently there have been many dim sum places that serve dim sum all the time. Morning, noon and night. And this place is one of them. Came here as boyfriend just returned from the US and had a craving for late night dim sum.

Located in Mong Kok near Argyle Road and the train tracks is this place. The signage is all in Chinese. But it's not hard to find as there is always a crowd of people waiting to get in. The menu is in the form of a check off form. It's also all in Chinese but there are photos. Basic tea is given. Seating is cramped. Service is rushed. Tip is to not order the classics. Order the strange dim sum. This is not fine dim sum like Sun Tong Luk. This is dim sum with a twist.

Steamed shrimp, flying fish roe and crab stick dumplings ($20). This was a new item we hadn't tried before so ordered it. The skin was not too thin and not too thick. Shrimp was not springy and good. Flying fish roe when cooked had a bit of crunch. What I didn't like was the addition of the imitation crab stick which made it taste mushy.

Steamed Pandan Cake ($20). This was their top 5 best items. It wasn't sweet and had a strong pandan flavor. Not too bad. But personally, I like the traditional version more.

Fried Cheese Balls ($28). Quite possibly my favorite item of theirs. Not too oily but packed with gooey cheese. Be careful as it was piping hot.

Steamed rice rolls with fried beancurd skin ($26). Rice roll was not too thin and not too thick. Fried beancurd skin was still crispy. If you don't like oily stuff, this is not for you as it's soaked with oil from the fried beancurd skin.

Sticky Pandan Rolls ($20). I wasn't a fan of this but that's because it was rolled in coconut and I hate coconut. But boyfriend thought it was ok. It wasn't sweet and had a strong pandan flavor.

Steamed Shrimp Meat on Rice in a Bamboo Pot ($26). Shrimp meat was pretty good. Nice and bouncy as shrimp meat is. Rice was combined with a bit of red rice. Rice tasted kind of bland though.

Chicken Pies ($26). Last time I came here, I liked this. Not only were they cute to look at but the cheesey tops were cheesy and the chicken meat was moist. This time it wasn't as good. The chicken meat wasn't as moist. At least the pie crust was crumbly enough.

Don't expect to sit comfortably. Expect lots of MSG. They don't rush you out but they do start wiping your table when you're finished eating as a hint for you to get out. But it's fun and satisfies your late night dim sum cravings.
