Find your way up to the 3/F from the elevator next to Peking Garden at the basement. LUMI is tugged quietly at the corner of the mall like a “secret garden”. I give this place a couple of tries at different times because the service is great and the food are generally pleasing with some surprises. The dishes are not “to die for” but I like how they are nicely portioned with lots of colors and fibers. The dinner scene here is nice and cozy (guests are polite and sophisticated). Semi-buffet brunch on Saturday and Sunday with self-service salad and dessert + 3 courses + 2 drinks at only $360. Just the salad & dessert buffet is $200.
Had 2 out of the 3 main courses at brunch and they were lovely. Toyama Shrimp Linguine was light and refreshing because of the cucumber shreds (never would have thought cucumber can make an impact). This pasta had a little but of hear from a small touch of chili and then simply mixed with garlic and olive oil. The tiny fried toyama white shrimps were crunchy and cute. Kids would have fun picking on the shrimps one by one.
The Atlantic Salmon made a great sensory impression. The salmon was smoked with cherry wood and cooked medium-rare. The flesh was soft and nicely salted. The side was a lemony cauliflower, potato & shrimp salad with a poached egg. The server said the chefs first smoked the raw salmon for hours in the kitchen, then carved it into pieces for cooking upon ordering.
The black coffee is a must-try. Locally roasted beans with a rounded nutty taste that goes well with sweets.
