Following our meal at Tin Lung Heen, we had dessert at the Chocolate Library, we were the only patrons there so we had our pick of tables.Chocolate soufflé with raspberry coulis and chocolate petit fours was the better of the two dishes. Following our meal at Tin Lung Heen, we had dessert at the Chocolate Library, we were the only patrons there so we had our pick of tables.

Chocolate soufflé with raspberry coulis and chocolate petit fours was the better of the two dishes. This was a classic combination of flavours that was executed well and certainly passed the “deliciousness test”.

Chocolate fondue with marshmallow, brownie, brioche and chocolate pasta was straight forward except for the chocolate pasta which wasn't that good anyway. The other items were fine and it's hard to dislike something dipped in decent quality chocolate.

Chocolate Library,朱古力圖書館,是作為朱古力迷必定要一去的地方,為何遲遲還未去?原因是剛剛初開時,圖書館實在太受歡迎,大家都爭著要去圖書館看看內裡藏著甚麼珍寶,要在全香港最高的地方吃朱古力下午茶,結果明明是下午三時才開始供應,卻要早數小時十二時便到來排隊等候登記入座,未免太瘋狂了!有時在想,吃下午茶都是為了想好好享受美好的時光,跟朋友即興的想找個地方坐坐聊天,如刻意的早那麼前來排隊,好像有點辛苦。開業大半年多,相信朱古力迷大部份都已到過圖書館,人群應該會少一點吧。但原來愛朱古力的人真的太多,想進圖書館吃下午茶的話仍然要一時到來先登記,只是人潮相比起之前沒那麼的洶湧。這天終於了卻心願,能到訪她的圖書館,心情實在興奮!但這應該是她最後到朱古力圖書館,因餐廳增添了下午及晚餐自助餐,而改名為Café 103,圖書館從此消失了,有點可惜,個人認為Chocolate Library比Café 103名字更好聽。終於到三時,坐電梯來到103樓的圖書館,門前還看見Chocolate Library的門牌。這天,被安排坐在窗旁,坐擁維港景致,可惜今天很大煙霞,看得不清,如果天氣晴朗的話

我們點了The Chocolate Library Afternoon Tea Set For Two,HK$438,跟一般在酒店吃的價錢差不多。除了Afternoon Tea Set外,還想另點些食物試試,可惜這裡已沒有了單點的甜品餐牌,只在Lounge & Bar供應,有點失望。但從那本朱古力圖書中發現有朱古力粒可選,經待應介紹後,我們選來八粒試試,分別是Mango Passion,Truffle,Raspberry,Apple,Milk Tea,Egg Tart,Macadia nut及Black Garlic。不久,待應先送上跟下茶的Signature Hot Chocolate,熱朱古力並不是由朱古力粉沖製成,而是由Valrhona朱古力磚熱融後再加入牛奶沖成,口感張力稠度較高,可可味濃郁,但濃稠度沒有Vero的熱朱古力那麼高,但也是杯不錯的熱朱古力。一本厚厚的朱古力圖書送來,心情很興奮,把書本打開,是三層七小隔的木架盛載著不同的鹹甜點。每款甜點用上不同的朱古力及濃度製成,期待著它每款的獨特的味道及變化。

先看看鹹點,Mint bread,smoked salmon,herbs cream cheese,薄荷煙三文魚三文治,起初沒為意,以為這件是三文魚壽司,翻看餐牌,才知這原來是三文治。外表特別,但味道只是普通。三文魚帶微微煙燻鹹香,而三文治質感較硬較乾,香草味薄弱的不覺它的存在。Curry bread,rosemary ham,mini cress,tomato chutney,迷迭香咖喱火腿三文治,三片火腿鋪在咖喱麵包,火腿質素平平,味道普通。麵包比煙三文魚那款的軟身,但太乾,帶微甜,咖喱味完完全全的蓋過了迷迭香味。

Cocoa nib chocolate bread,duck fois gras terrine,可可朱古力包伴鴨肝醬,一鹹一甜的配搭,鴨肝醬幼滑而味濃郁,味道討好。但配上的朱古力麵包卻叫人失望,質感極乾,乾得像餅乾,亦沒有朱古力的香甜味,失去了鹹甜味道配搭的目的。

其後是不同的朱古力甜點,先是White chocolate berries shot,Ivory white chocolate 35% cocoa ,白朱古力杯,面層及底層是紅桑莓醬,中間是香甜輕巧的白朱力慕斯,幼滑度不算高,伴些酸酸的紅桑莓醬吃較好,平衡酸甜味道。

Chocolate madeleine,Nyangbo chocolate 68% cocoa,朱古力貝殻蛋糕,眾款甜品中最不好吃,蛋糕十分乾身,又沒有甚麼味道,很難吃,吃了一口已沒有再吃。

Chocolate framboise tart,Manjari chocolate 64% cocoa,朱古力紅桑莓撻,朱古力醬味道十分濃郁,中間夾有紅桑莓果醬,微微的苦澀可可味道中帶出酸酸的,很清新。撻皮富牛油香味及鬆脆,我最愛吃這款甜點。

White coffee,chocolate tart,Araguari 72% cocoa,白咖啡軟凍朱古力撻,面層白朱古力咖啡慕斯很甜膩,咖啡味道可再重些,下層朱古力慕斯中間夾有朱古力脆粒,更添咬口。

Chocolate Mille-feuille,Caraibe chocolate 66% cocoa,朱古力拿破侖酥,單看名字還以後是那款常吃由酥皮夾著吉士醬的拿破崙,但原來是與別不同的款式。面層薄薄的朱古力片下是的朱古力慕斯,口感濕潤幼滑,而看看Caraibe chocolate特點是會帶有咖啡香味及微微的烤乾果味,但此款蛋糕沒有此獨特的味道。中間有些脆脆細粒,底部的朱古力蛋糕混著果仁粒,就像是Brownie,令口感更豐富,但有少許乾身,不過整體還算不錯。

Chocolate orange confit macaron,Guanaja chocolate 70% cocoa,橙香朱古力蛋白杏仁餅,Macarons表面不光滑,但口感卻做得外鬆脆內濕潤,一口咬下不會立即散碎,但有少許黏口。朱古力味濃醇,而Guanaja chocolate特性是帶點花香蜜甜味,所以配香甜橙蓉最適合,整體水準比期望的好。吃完這顆Macarons,很有衝動想試試Pastry Germs的Macarons。

Marble cheese cake,Coeur de guanaja 66% cocoa,雲石芝士蛋糕,用叉子輕輕的觸碰蛋糕表面已經感到它的軟稔。入口有如像慕斯的稔滑,質感雖然討好,但想想這是芝士蛋糕而不是慕斯,還是挺身點會較好。中間夾有朱古力軟心,在清新的芝士味中帶出甜美。而餅底卻很鬆散,吃得餅碎四散。

吃過了下午茶,再試試那八顆朱古力。先試較特別的松露味,松露香氣撲鼻,濃郁的可可味與濃郁的松露味異匹配。另外兩款港式味道沒太特別,蛋撻味沒有蛋香味,而奶茶味只帶微微的甜茶味。三款果味比較正常,柚子蘋果味道清新酸甜,由柚子啫喱加蘋果朱古力層構成,但柚子的酸味比蘋果的蓋過﹔紅桑莓味酸甜怡人,中間的啫喱層增添咬口﹔芒果熱情果的甜味卻比較假,不太吸引。還有討厭的黑蒜味,起初沒有點此款式,後來因某些味道缺貨,待應替我們轉了味道。對於厭惡蒜頭味道的我,都嚐了一口,但味道太濃烈,真的接受不了。最後的夏威夷果仁比較正常,但整體朱古力質素只是一般,朱古力不算幼滑,餡料沒有大驚喜。

修讀朱古力書後,整體的提材及構意是很特別,用上不同款式及濃度朱古力製成甜點。內容雖然是豐富,但甜點款式沒有獨特之處,味覺上亦沒有帶來驚喜,質素一般,這點的確有點失望。但無疑這裡的環境的確是不錯,置身於全香港最高的圖書館,一邊吃著下午茶,一邊欣賞醉人景色,實在寫意。相信除了朱古力迷外,其他人也會同樣的享受。只可惜,圖書館要改為作Café 103,幸好心願已了,我的第一次到來,亦變了最後的一次,再見了朱古力圖書館。

SKY 100 落成時諗住會上去睇下, 感受下咁高望番落維港既靚景. 但係自從有左ICC, 我覺得可以多一個選擇比大家, 就係哩度, 又可以慳番SKY 100 既入場費換黎一個好RELAX 既下午茶. 比低兩百幾蚊就可以飽攬一望無際既海景, 邊嘆茶邊看景, 簡直係無比敵. 我地四人行安排左坐最右手邊靠窗 (望番香港島), 最正個位咁濟. So Lucky! 味道方面暫時放埋一邊先, 美女廚房, 睇相先講! 其實咁仲好過你比成兩舊水上去SKY 100, o係哩度一樣睇倒海景, 影到靚相又有得食, 仲高過佢三層樓添, 所以我覺得好值得去的.
想去的朋友要注意一下, 如果想坐到靚位, 就早d去到酒店lobby 登記, 因為哩度係冇得booking的, 一定要walk-in, 每日1pm 開始接受登記, 尤其是星期六, 日更加人多添! 記得早D 去登記左先, 再o係樓下商場行陣, 咁兩點就可以入場架啦.

千呼萬喚的甜品書櫃被端上桌,大家都影呀影,單是賣相已值回票價。美食由下而上,由左至右,整齊排列。其中一位朋友忽發奇想:到底這個書櫃每次使用後是怎樣清洗的?
噢,相信如此貴氣十足的餐廳一定有辦法保持其器皿的衛生,不用多想吧!

拍夠了,玩夠了,是時候讓舌頭享受、享受喇!三層的架子上有三款開胃前點和七款精緻的甜點,共十款。當中我印象較深刻的有:
薄荷煙三文魚三文治:一咬便有薄荷味,煙三文魚尚算肥美。
迷迭香咖喱火腿三文治:麵包的咖喱味很濃,基本上我吃不到迷迭香的味道。

說實話,食物不算很突出,我相信身旁那位廚藝了得之人亦能做出相同水準的甜點。

四個人分享,每人只是$126,抵!我們在五時半後要求結帳,侍應忙於為晚市準備,無暇理會我們,正合我意,在等待結帳時我們到處坐,又吃了不少熊仔軟糖,結果六時多才離開。可以在如此舒適的環境享受了接近三小時,看着黃昏景致,眼睛比舌頭更享受嘛!

12點半個朋友到達, 吹水一下1點便登記, 誰知道3點才開始所以要到處hea才可以回來3點, 入場了, 103樓,真的很興奮, 我們3個女生被分到近窗口位置, 向外望是the arch, 哈哈, 環境真的很好~點了ritz carlton 什麼signature dark chocolate, 頭幾口真的是很正, 濃濃郁的朱古力味, 不錯~但飲到一半, 就太甜了, 點了一杯apple juice, 朋友點了jasmine tea 和忘記了什麼tea, 不錯主角, 服務員把那本''library''拿來, 打開, 嘩, 就是那10件小點! 真的好喜歡, 哈哈, 感覺很可愛, 要在書架上把小點拿下來salmon cake, ham cake 同cheesecake 不錯, 個raspberry mousse 都好味呀, 其他就有點甜左d, 鵝肝不合我, 不太喜歡~總體來說值得一試, 感覺很好很優閑但大家可以3個人分食2個人分量, 同埋唔好點個個signature dark chocolate來飲, 會冇咁甜

She walked us into the restaurant, only to stop us seconds later telling us our table was not ready. My husband and I went for the lunch buffet at the chocolate library expecting superb service and food at this so-called 6 star hotel.
Greeting us upon arrival was a non-smiling hostess. She walked us into the restaurant, only to stop us seconds later telling us our table was not ready. She then left us, unattended and feeling awkward, in the middle of the crowded buffet area.

Service was inattentive, such as no replacement of used cutlery and refills of water.
They were rude and unfriendly, no smiles on their faces.
The waitress pretended not to have heard me asking for butter.
A waiter did at one time come up to fold my husband's napkin when he was out getting food, but it seemed his interest was more into the view and the guests down at Tosca instead. When he caught me looking at him, he stared back, dazed and unsmiling and then walked away. When we asked for the check, the wrong one was presented. No apologies whatsoever was given.

In addition, grooming standards are very very low, more of a 3 star hotel standard.

Waste of my time and money!!!!

In addition, the men's toilet by the lobby was unattended, with tissue papers and napkins on the floor. Disgusting!!!

一直很想去ICC的Ritz Carlton,看了很多雜誌介紹Ritz Carlton內的餐廳,最有興趣還是這間Chocolate Library,可惜不設訂枱,只可walk in,到達樓下先登記,我等了大半個鐘終於等到枱,位置於103樓,境觀真的一流,裝修簡約中見高貴,入到餐廳坐下之後,就來了一位外藉侍應介紹這裡最出名的tea set ,tea set包括3款咸點7款甜點,放在一個很精緻的書架上,欣賞過後立即品嘗一下味道薄荷煙三文魚三文治,包不夠鬆,薄荷味不夠~可可朱古力包伴鴨肝醬,鴨肝醬很香,比美鵝肝醬,想不到鴨肝醬配朱古力原來很夾,朱古力的甜味令鴨肝醬更香更美味,最好吃是這個迷迭香咖喱火腿三文治,同樣三文治不夠鬆,咖喱及迷迭香味不夠香濃~白朱古力杯,白朱古力配雜苺,酸酸地,好香滑好好味~朱古力貝殼蛋糕,普通的朱古力蛋糕,沒特別。~朱古力紅桑子撻,皮也很脆,朱古力很甜,但紅桑子中和了甜度,不錯~白咖啡軟凍朱古力撻,朱古力配咖啡簡直是最佳拍擋~朱古力拿破崙酥,很甜!很甜!橙香朱古力蛋白杏仁餅Macaroon,好鬆脆又充滿橙香 !雲石芝士蛋糕,芝士味很香,如果濃些更好~飲品

雲石芝士蛋糕,芝士味很香,如果濃些更好~
飲品叫了蘋果甘菊茶及熱朱古力,
蘋果甘菊茶,一整套喝茶配件也齊備,很細心,大大壺的茶夠冲兩杯多~
熱朱古力,這是Ritz Carlton的招牌飲品,不可不試,充滿香濃朱古力,香甜又夠滑!

食物不錯!景觀又正!坐得又舒服!我差不多六時才走,絕對是high tea的好選擇

到現時為止我都會俾好評~整體係唔錯~~

但到我飲杯SIGNATURE CHOCOLATE ~我就覺得好差~

我估佢用既朱古力應該係偏酸~再經過加熱之後其實係好酸~陣味會變左~

如果同LANDMARK 既VERO 或者LEONIDAS 既熬朱古力比~真係唔入流~~

佢係暫時一杯我飲唔曬既朱古力~

我建議如果試唔好兩個都叫SIGNATURE CHOCOLATE~~最好有個叫TEA~呢度有個APPLE TEA好香呢~同埋最後可以消滯~~

ANYWAY ,一次都好夠了~~

Since our failure to queue up for the famous 'Chocolate Library' and ended up going to LGB last time (See my LGB review), my friend and I promised each other that we would be back in the near future!!
Fortunately, we picked my friend's birthday to try it again. This time, we managed to wake up early on a Saturday morning, took a taxi, all for the sake of the Chocolate Library!


(The following information may be useful for those of you who are planning to visit the Chocolate Library but are clueless about the queuing time) We done some research in prior to our visit that the Chocolate Library started serving its Afternoon tea at 2PM, and the registration started at 1PM. Having learnt our lesson last time, we arrived at around 12:15PM to start queuing up at the lobby. Yes, I'm not joking. I thought I was late already in terms of queuing. To my suprise, there were already quite a few parties in front of me
As the clock ticked, we were there standing for more than an hour, until a lady dressed in uniform came over to register our names. And that was around 1:15PM, we were told to come back at 2PM. Another 45 minutes? Oh well, lucky that there was Elements nearby to spend some of our time in shopping. In the mere 45 minutes, we didn't pay much attention to the shops but our watches instead. We counted our time very carefully, and returned to the lobby at around 1:45PM. Waited for another 5-10 minutes, we were FINALLY allowed to take the lift to the 103/F!

It was totally different when we arrived on the 103/F, a totally different world comparing to the lobby. Grand and flourished design with a glimpse of modern glamour and luring fragance, we soon saw the logo of the Chocolate Library.

We were the second party to arrive, and very, very fortunately, we were given the second best table among all!
Our table was near to the view of the 103/F, in which we could turn our heads and observe the view of New Territories. It was truly amazing.

On the other side (top photo), there were some unknown bits of architectural design in preventing our browsing...quite weird indeed. Nevertheless, my friend and I learnt that, it really didn't matter if you're queuing at the front or the middle or near to the back downstairs at the lobby. As long as - 1. you are in pairs (the best combination for visiting Chocolate Library), 2. you got yourself at least in the middle of the queue and 3. you come back early before 2PM., I'm pretty sure that you will get a nice table. Afterall, you fought all the way here mainly for the sake of the 103/F's view and the legendary 'Opening' of the Cover of the Dessert box don't you?

The presentation of the MENU was very attractive indeed. The thickness of the hard-paper cover of the 'book' made you truly believed that you sat yourself in the Library, in which you were about to explore the wonder of Chocolates here.
The Chocolate Souffle

My friend suggested that instead of ordering two tea sets, which would be too much for two (oh yes trust me), we ordered one afternoon tea set plus a Chocolate Souffle to share. The Chocolate Souffle was the first to arrive. It was quite a small portion, but as we were very much aware of our calorie intake for the rest of today, we thought it would be enough. Though it was small, but it was just right when we both had a couple of teaspoons. The Chocolate Souffle blended in very well with the raspberry source. Though the flavours were different to the perfect Souffle I had back in The Verandah (See my Verandah's review), this Chocolate Souffle here was able to grab my heart with its very rich chocolate moisture and texture. The crispiness of the top layer of Chocolate souffle was amazingly addictive too. We finished off the dish with half a bite of the chocolate to sweeten our tongue.

And finally, the afternoon tea set! The one we've been waiting for! The cover of the dessert box was nicely designed - though I did not capure a photo of the cover itself. The waitress kindly offered us time to take as many photos as we want befor taking the cover away. By then our excitements calmed and we were finally able to enjoy afternoon tea in a quiet and decent manner, haha! I would not comment too much about the desserts, as I found them only a side-point to our whole experience of the Chocolate Library, from queuing to appreciating the every details of the design of the restaurant and presentation.

A few quick points about the desserts of the tea set -
If you are coming in pairs, one tea set would be more than enough for both of you. The desserts in the shelves were simply too much for one person to take in all by himself. They were too 'much' for one's intake.

Personally I did not like the tea set too much. Despite its excessive sweetness, most of them (mainly tarts and hard-cakes) were too hard to bite. I had a preference of softer desserts, perhaps that was why. And one or two of them were particularly 'strong-in-flavour' (e.g. the bottom right one) Beware!

For all the desserts we had, the chief skillfully mixed chocolate with raspberry for every single of them. Raspberry's sourness could moist and blend with chocolate's sweetness for the better enjoyment of our tongues.
My favourite out of all would definitely be the Chocolate Souffle, and the Raspberry and Cream (the middle one).

To sum up our experiences, it was indeed a very fun and enjoyable afternoon.
Bearing in mind that we failed upon our first visit, our eagerness to get a seat had largely exceeded our imagination. It was a very unique experience that I think both my friend and I would never forget. And especially it was my friend's birthday, spending a nice afternoon on the 103/F was more than what we could ask for.
Don't expect too much when you pay your visit, especially the food. Just come and enjoy the atmosphere and the 103/F view (if you're lucky to get the nearby view's seat). I definitely think that once is enough for the Chocolate Library.
I would never want to wake up early and spend two hours just for an afternoon tea, with no gurantee of nice view seats. Though my next target would be the OZONE upstairs


P.S. Remember to check out the toilet! You would find something amazing there

走進去,裝潢簡約中見氣派!這裡分為兩邊,我們安排入座,左邊靠近窗口的餐桌!實在興奮不已!
可惜,4:00 便要交枱!
幸好當日天氣晴朗!
美中不足是有些少煙霞!這個位置,可以飽覽維港迷人景緻,確實不錯的視覺享受!
窗台位置放了不少書籍,總離不開以 Chocolate 為主題!
還有璀璨的吊燈,非凡突出!不讓 102 樓 Tosca 的華麗吊燈專美!

侍應所說,這杯飲品用上60% 來自法國的朱古力!我特意一嚐!
熱朱古力表面加上雲呢拿泡沫,看起來比坊間的特別!朱古力與雲呢拿混合之後,朱古力味道依然濃郁,不失順滑!
質感濃稠挺身!不是很甜!既然是招牌飲品,質素確實沒有令人失望!

驟眼看好像一件三文魚壽司!幾可亂真!
以薰衣草作點綴!來一個西、日 crossover!
咸香的煙三文魚,配上略帶薄荷味的麵包,是一個清新配搭!不過,麵包未夠鬆軟!


可可朱古力包伴鴨肝醬 Cocoa nib chocolate bread, duck fois gras terrine
看來幾有層次感的小咸點!
鴨肝醬既滑,且散發著咸香!可媲美鵝肝醬啊!
下層朱古力包與鴨肝醬相比,前者味道明顯比下去!表面以可可粒及車厘子作點綴!

迷迭香咖哩火腿三文治 Curry Bread, rosemary ham, mini cress, tomato chutney
外層以火腿包住混合咖哩粉的麵包,再以一點千島沙律醬黏著一片小花瓣。可愛的賣相,實在吸引!
麵包犯上同樣問題,又是較為乾硬!
散發一點咖哩味,火腿與酒店 buffet 的貨色差不多!味道上沒有帶來驚喜!

雖然名字有個"酥"字,但見不到酥皮!如果,喜歡食濃郁朱古力的人必愛!恐怕我們對此有點失望!又一甜到餾之作!朱古力慕絲一層又一層,質感較為濕腍!
底部的蛋糕混合果仁,可帶來一點嚼感!

橙與朱古力的配合,本應是很夾!可惜,這裡的macaron 以朱古力加上橙皮,口味一般!況且甜味有點過份!外層咬落微硬!

雲石芝士蛋糕 Marble cheese cake ( Coeur de guanaja 66% cacao )
簡單以朱古力片及紅桑子作點綴,芝士部分很幼滑!中間夾住朱古力軟心!兩者很夾!

侍應主動來收走木架,把剩餘少量甜品換上碟子,可方便我們談天!值得一讚!可惜!轉碟之後,甜品慘被夾凹變形!大家日後要留意一下!另外,還有一件甜品,不知是女侍應故意還是忘記送回給我們!有位朋友提醒她,還有一件甜品尚未以碟子送上!這樣的服務態度令我們不滿又氣憤!
服務方面最多只給 3 分。

大家起初滿懷期望!怎料,見識了這裡的環境,食過這餐豐富的朱古力下午茶餐之後,失望而回!
不竟,大家也過了一個悠閒的下午!

The Lounge & Bar由於3:00開始, 但是, Cholocate Libaray 2:00pm開始, 所以, 我地簡左Chocolate Library. ,我係waiting list的第八個,留了電話,然後等酒店聯絡幾點回來, 誇張, 到左4:30pm, 我地都未電話。跟住同仕應講姓咩電話,過了一陣就安排我地上去啦,撘車立直上103樓,第一次撘到咁高炸,我地二人叫咗朱古力tea set for 2($438+10%), 飲品要了latte and cacuppcino.其實每間酒店的 tea set, 價錢.味道差別不大,留下最深印象的是此處由103/F 飽覽維港, 其他地點實在難以匹敵。 一盒三層高的書架便送上:1) 煙三文魚三文治,可可朱古力包伴鴨肝醬, 迷迭香咖喱火腿三文治: 麻麻地, 味道一般, 2) 朱古力紅嗓子撻: OK3) 雲石

其實每間酒店的 tea set, 價錢.味道差別不大,留下最深印象的是此處由103/F 飽覽維港, 其他地點實在難以匹敵。

Seems like the popularity for the renowned Ritz-Calton the Chocolate Library has never gone down since the day it grandly opened, the queue is still crazy even in the weekdays. We went today at 1.30pm and were informed to be seated at around 4.30pm - 5pm. Despite the queue, I got pissed off by the fussy dress code of the Chocolate Library where no shorts is allowed, which my boyfriend was being rejected at the concierge last time. What if we were the hotel guests and wear shorts? will we be treated differently?

The area is pretty spacious and the decor is grandly furnished. Nonetheless it is on 103/F, the side window view is amazing, particularly when the weather is great. Specific server was assigned for different tables, service was warming but the efficiency was bad - 1) We were seated at a corner which no body could see us, it took us around 15 minutes whenever we wanted an attention; 2) Food delivery took forever, the tea set took an hour to arrive; 3) We waited our Chocolate Souffle for an hour before knowing it was not ordered. I was extremely discontented about their service. We didn't complain but they offer us some compliment chocolate gift boxes possibly for the unacceptable wait.

Back to the tea set, we ordered the Chocolate Library Afternoon Tea at $238 to share between 2 people, as people says the 1 person's portion is enough for two. The presentation was quite interesting, but the box was rather huge which pretty much block our vision. We had to peek through the gaps in order to look into people's eye sitting opposite to us when chatting.

1) Mint Bread, Smoke Salmon, Herbs Cream Cheese (5/10)
The Min Bread had a mild mint taste but the bread itself was a bit dry. Salmon was cut in thin slice which I personally reckon can be a bit thicker. It would also be nicer if there is some sauce on top.

2) Curry Bread, Rosemary Ham, Mini Cress, Tomato Chutney (8/10)
Interesting Bread with strong curry taste. Taken together with the sweet ham had made the bread very savoury. Love the cute sushi like presentation.

3) Cocoa Oils Chocolate Bread, Duck Foie Gras Terrine (8/10)
Smooth and sweet overall with a chocolate bread with dark chocolate bits.

Raspberry was very sweet with a tint sour taste. A very smooth chocolate paste with 65% sweetness - sweetness was just right with the loving sweet raspberry taste.

The mousse was very creamy but a bit overly sweet with a tint of sourness. Not until I read back the description, I realised the cream was made of white chocolate, that comes its sweetness

The Macaroon had a strong but lovable orange chocolate taste. I used to hate orange tasted chocolate but this one was very acceptable and delicious. The middle paste had a rich chocolate taste and a thick texture like Nutella.

4) Chocolate Madeleine (4/10)
Madeleine was a stranger to me before but now I am growing to love it as it is my boyfriend's favourite. The Madeleine was not moist enough when compared to other brands. It had a very strong chocolate taste and also some melting chocolate bits within the Madeleine. A very filling pastry indeed.

Never thought it would be a cheese cake simply by its look. The Cheesecake was mildly tasted with a light and creamy texture. The cheese taste fused nicely with the chocolate taste. The crumbly base was also very nice and matching.

Processed a very strong hazelnut taste and chocolate taste which was extremely sweet. Would prefer some black coffee to go with this pastry but I had English Breakfast Tea instead. (Regretted!) A Pastry with solid chewy base with macadamia nuts, topped with a crispy layer and chocolate mousse.

Absolutely love the cute mushroom look. The white chocolate coffee cream was very smooth and yum. There are chocolate bits and chocolate cream in the middle. Overall it gave a great mouth feel but a bit sweet as well.

The Signature Hot Chocolate was a lovely drink to go with the tea set. The chocolate taste was mild, light and smooth. It was made with 3 different kinds of chocolate with names I forgot, but its a must try.

Overall the pastries were on the sweet side, so my sweet tooth friends you have to come here and try their pastries out. I figured they used a lot of raspberry fruits in nearly half of their sweet pastries, the server told me the Chef reckons raspberry matches great with chocolate. I personally love raspberry so I wouldn't mind but would love to see more twist in their pastries. The portion isn't necessarily big, but it is on the sweet side so its more filling. Order 1 person each if you can take the sweetness. Service-wise I would not want to visit again, but my visit was on a weekend. So may be a weekday visit would be better. (given if you don't have to work lol.)

底下的另一格是放著兩件可可朱古力包伴鴨肝醬,鴨肝醬其實有丁點似腐乳的口味,整件的吃就是咸咸甜甜的,有特色,卻不是好食。

推上一層,朱古力紅嗓子撻是我較為喜歡的,至少是撻皮鬆脆,朱古力濃香,混埋微酸的紅嗓子,成件事總算是夾得上。

紅白相間的玻璃小杯,其實就是白朱古力杯,賣相唔錯的。用匙仔「忽」起,質感是幾滑溜,兩層紅紅的草莓漿,味帶點酸,正好中和本身很甜的白朱古力,兩頭的藍莓和紅嗓子均不會太酸,另又有一小片金萡增添貴氣,這款是幾有水準的。

雲石芝士蛋糕睇落普通,反而有著濃郁的芝士香,質感也實在,是實而不華的出品。原來,中間的那層是全個套餐的精華所在。

吃到了頂部,左手邊的兩款是朱古力貝殼蛋糕同埋橙香朱古力蛋白杏仁餅,前者口感帶點煙韌,有朱古力香,我是喜歡的;至於橙香朱古力蛋白杏仁餅,即是Macaron來的,總算鬆脆,伴我的那杯Latte還可以。

最後一格,有白咖啡軟凍朱古力撻,上面的一球白咖啡味道麻麻,好在撻皮仍然鬆脆,才算可以接受;朱古力拿破崙酥,不像市面上見到的拿破崙,但層次感很豐富,是不錯的。

要了杯Latte,沒有美妙的拉花,但喝起來總算舒服。

As expected the food was so-so, and we decided to move on for a pampering dessert and coffee. As I have read so much about the Chocolate Library at Ritz Carlton, we decided to give it a try.

Arriving at the lobby, I found the Ritz Carlton looked very different from the one in Central. The former one was of Colonial style, light blue and white, floral, and this new one is just cyber. It reminded me of the Grand Hyatt in Shanghai though. And quickly we have found the Chocolate Library, during a Friday evening 9pm it was almost empty. The receptionist lady was young and green, look like a student. And she was not wearing any make-up (or so little that I could not notice) and with a student hair style, I would say that she had already down-graded the atmosphere of the place.


She led us to sit at a table on the very end, which was right next to the one table with a couple celebrating birthday. We wondered why she did not want to spread out her guests a bit if the place was so empty? Perhaps she thought the corner had the best view, but it was blocked 80% by the guests at the next table anyway.

So we decided to move ourselves to a place where we could talk freely without having to hear the conversation at the next table. We picked a table at the middle of the long aisle, where we could not see much of the view as it was all blocked by the patterned glass. We could see the chandelier for Tosca clearly though. But as it was quiet and no one in the surrounding we found it better than the original table.

We were then presented with the menu, nicely produced, really like a book from the library. Not as many desserts as we had hoped, and out of them I picked the chocolate soufflé to share. My friend ordered an Earl Grey tea, and I ordered a cup of Decaf Cappuccino.

The food arrived shortly. The chocolate soufflé was small in size, with a piece of chocolate on the side. The look was not so attractive anyway. We cut it with a spoon, at least it was soft and lingering inside, with fruit jam at the bottom. I tried one spoonful, disappointing, as it was merely warm. The chocolate was rich but as the temperature was not right it just could not bring out the flavor, and made the whole dessert so heavy and not tasty.

And the more disappointing was my Cappuccino. It was served in a normal hotel coffee cup, and even with the foam it was only 2/3 filled when brought to me,. Sipping from it, again, it was merely warm, and no coffee taste at all. I understood that some decaf coffee may taste a little worse, but this one was absolutely poor. And even the milk did not have the creamy and silky taste as it should have. What a big disaster! The hotel should really look into it, if you make your place called Chocolate Library it is expected that guests would order coffee to go with it. How can a coffee taste so bad?


The only thing normal probably is my friend’s Earl Grey Tea. The tea is hot enough, and the tea leave is of high quality, fresh and smelled good.

I started to wonder what the place is trying to sell to distinguish itself? View? It doesn’t really have for most tables. Service? Then stop letting students serve us! Food? Definitely disappointing. Decoration? Perhaps, but if you ask me the sofa wasn’t really comfortable, and the 4-person table was so small that you could not let four people have dessert together, perhaps only 4 cups of tea.

Ritz Carlton, you are one of the best hotels in the world. Please work hard and I look forward to a true 6-star place.

We spent one hour gap at the nearby Starbucks.

We were assigned to a table which is closed to the view of 102/F and the enormous sea. We ordered one set of symbolized afternoon tea set and one César Salad.

Among all the delicate desserts, I like the White Choco Berries Shot the most. Personally I really like berries and I like how creamy this shot tastes like! The smoked tuna on the César Salad tasted really good and very fatty! Sadly the proportion of the salad is slightly small, for this price I was expecting to get a bigger dish…

Indeed, for two girls, ordering one set of afternoon tea is enough. Cuz all the desserts from the set are quite heavy and sweeeeeeeeeet. It’s recommended to order one set combines with one other dish (says salad, go for green!). For ladies who don’t wanna get ‘fat’, you know what to do!

The sea view is priceless, having such sophisticated afternoon tea on 103/F with such sea view, what more can we ask for life? Though we gotta arrive earlier to get the confirmation for the seats, it is still worthy for this speechless view and exciting chocolate experience.

Am I still looking forwards to visiting here next time? For sure! But next time I would consider to go one floor down to 102/F – the Lounge & Bar, which serves a better view of the sea!
