Stumbled upon my favorite mexican place reopened in Sai Ying Pun! Was empty and I was hungry so stepped right in.I had:- Fish tacos (corn)- Korean "special" taco (flour)- Carnitas tacos (corn)General: - Perfect size - not like the small traditional ones but also not huge and overly sauced like some other chain- Fresh tasting, good salsa verde / pico, not too much not too little - Fish (fried) was crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside - not fishy. good with a dash of lemon.- Carnitas was juicy and dripping with sauce (downside of this is tortillas can get soggy - need to ask for less sauce) - preferred the fish taco though - less soggy- Korean taco (just comes with one) good tangy asian flavor. wd def try one of the other specials they have (they seemed to have expanded their menu); nice if i want to mix up the flavor but not a stapleWas looking to get horchata too but they didn't have it - they said they would be bringing it in soon. It was pure coincidence that I noticed Taco Chaca on the streets of Sai Ying Pun. I was actually hungry and looking for a quick bite, so I walked inside this tiny place on Second Street. It was a late afternoon so not many people were inside – but funnily enough as soon as I sat down to eat, the place became popular and six or seven people arrived to order a meal. So I thought to myself, it must be a good place if it is popular at 3pm on a Saturday!Menus are non-existent; food is chosen from the big board on the wall, then ordered and paid for directly at the till. The board featured all the typical Mexican dishes: tacos, burritos, nachos or quesadillas.I decided to try a burrito filled with pulled pork. The carnitas burrito is filled with lots of meat, combined with Mexican rice, refried beans and cheese and comes with a side of salsa. The portion was huge and very tasty. Nice meat, spicy sauce and the filling was not too dense or too loose. Just right.Will I go there again? Yes, this beats the Mexican food we had at Heirloom by a mile, even if I’ve not had any tacos at Taco Chaca yet I’m convinced this is a better place. 随著正街电梯的落成、地铁的兴建,西营盘近1-2年开了很多新店,大多是西式的高级餐厅,似乎大家都务要在这脱变中的地区挣一桶金。这晚路过这墨西哥小店,与朋友见价格难得相宜,而且她未尝过墨西哥食品,便推介了这quesadilla (墨西哥芝士饼)。这是我在美国时,最爱的墨西哥食品。对于喜欢食芝士,又未曾尝过墨西哥食品的朋友,我都建议先尝quesadilla,因为这会有较少墨西哥食品的浓烈香料,较易接受。大概是56元,有4片,很足够的芝士,又香又热,吃的时候有最吸引人的溶化了的芝士撕,中间夹有少少的酸辣调味科,加上少许肉粒,味道刚好,合香港人口味,又不失墨西哥食品的特色。想不到在这个「新soho」区也可发现又抵又好食的新意。Read More

This was only my second time eating at Taco Chaca. I was disappointed the first time (rude staff and sub-par food) but decided to give it another shot since I live locally and thought they might have improved. I was wrong, they'd hadn't on either front. I ordered a chicken quesidilla and side chips and salsa. The salsa was mostly water, the quacamole was not fresh and tasted like the cheap dips you can buy at parkNshop. The chips themselves tasted like they were past their sell by date. The quesidilla tasted no better than tex-mex you can buy at Mcdonalds in the US. And I can't quite understand why the staff at Taco Chaca are determined to be so rude. I won't be going back.Read More
