第一次來這𥚃吃飯,因為知道Bjoern Alexander 來了這裡做主廚,情人節晚餐定價800元一位,有5道菜,我覺得價格很合理,不知道你會不會和我有相同的感覺,在香港要找價格合理的西餐其實不容易,平的通常只是精緻一點快餐,貴的可以很驚人,這頓晚餐在情人節,可以話是物超所值!餐前小吃碗豆蓉撻另一道餐前小食第一道菜第一道菜的伴酒,靚但不是我喜歡的口味老婆不能吃蟹肉,大廚以這道素菜代替,很合老婆心意第二道,亦是全晚五道菜中我們最喜歡的一道,嫩椰菜包着慢煮的帶子第三道 麵食第四道 主菜,我們都點了牛肉,慢煮牛面肉伴一片薄薄的生牛肉第五道甜品

We had a worse meal ever in HK of friend's birthday party, the service here is diabolical and the food is absolutely worse value for money, the restaurant is so cold with people often going in and out to the terrace makes it freezing cold so uncomfortable, the worse thing is every course takes half an hour to arrive and at one stage I was waiting so long to be served at the bar because all the bartenders are having fun photos taken can you believe it, the restaurant has a high expectations befor

I am quite surprised to read some bad comments here about Maison Eight, my wife and I have had a very nice evening last week. We had a glass of wine at the terrasse, followed by a lovely diner inside, both places have an astonishing view on TST and the Bay.Although we were not impressed by the dining room decoration and the furnitures, the meal was perfect and the service was first class. As for the starters, we chose the scallops and a mille feuilles of  Scottish salmon with Bollinger Rosé sauc

to put it simply, everything was rather bad - food, wine, service, environment

food - totally not what i expected. i admit i might have too high expectations after reading a few online reviews. but my advise to the owner is rather than hiring professional writers and bloggers to write good reviews, you should just focus more on the food and hiring a good chef

environment - the setting is rather weird. there is a bar area and a fine dining area and they are connected. makes the fine dining area seems more casual than it otherwise should be

wine - simply bad. tried both the wine by glass and the one with coravin. speechless

service - more or less similar experience as some other reviewers. the waiters just seem inexperienced, clueless and a total mess

to be fair, i came earlier this year when the restaurant just opened (i think feb/mar/apr, not an experience i want to remember particularly lol). to be fair i don't think if things have got better since then, but based on some other reviews below, it seems not.

派lunch menu派漏,麵包又派漏,羊架ordered medium仲熟過隔離嘅7成,同waiter傋,佢呆左,好似聽唔明咁!之後話如果換要等得耐,我話換,跟住佢走左入去出返黎,問我轉唔轉其他野,因為煮過要等得耐,唔通其他食物唔駛煮?仲要一句唔好意思都冇!!我放棄左!甜品brownie 好難食👿👿

Very weird place. The official photos looks much nicer than reality. Lighting settings need to change as it features pink and purple disco night to fit the theme on the left.Dining place weird, we were offered tables in the Bollinger Room. Apart from the glass you use, there was nothing fancy about the interior. There were even casually dressed staff working with a laptop next to your table. Dining place weird, we were offered tables in the Bollinger Room. Apart from the glass you use, there was nothing fancy about the interior. Service lacking, very inattentive. The way they pour wine and serve plates, you know they are wannabes.

Kitchen very very questionable. Took 40 minutes for the starters to arrive, and not in a good way. They try to entertain with supermarket ready made bread, and terrible looking canapés (you can tell what it looks like). Very amateur main course as you can see from my picture. Ingredient was good and fresh, but the presentation was very very amateur. Waiters don't know what Baguette is when I asked for one, and I did not bother ordering dessert.

题外话/补充资料: I would conclude it as a rip off of the year 2016. I guess they are happy to serve the young birthday couples and tourists dancing in the 'ballroom'. Overall trying too hard to be something they are very far from. General speaking, its not vomiting bad, but the try-na-be service, price of a michelin star course were a complete turnoff.

went there for birthday celebration. lovely experience with top notch service (a very tall westerner n im very sorry for forgetting his name but hes very passionate and knowledgeable for the food hes serving)located on the 21st floor of the rather new building on observatory road in tsim sha tsui, this place is easily accessible and about 10 mins walk from tsim sha tsui MTR stationthis place boasts a wonderful harbour view and has a balcony good for drinks and happy hoursuperb and elegant decor

we ordered a set lunch for each of us. so glad i ordered the slow cooked salmon because i am in lurrrrvvv and will go back again just for that soft and unforgettable texture

dessert was pistachio icecream with apple tart, so yummy! cheese platter, a bit small i reckon but good enough for 1 person

the lunch set was unexpectedly cheap for the quality of food and n view. around 250hkd per person only! will deffo come back x

慶祝女友生日,特定選了這間食評很高的餐廳一試,六點半來到,先在ballroom 點了兩杯signiture cocktail 歎歎,果然名不虛傳,正!!!七點多晚飯時間,有點餓直闖餐廳用餐,問題就出來了,用餐環境很迫,怖置也很普通,完全遠離我想像,但既然來了也點了數個chef recommend dishes一試,,但完全over price ,我選的其中一個smoke salmon ,上菜是只有三件,就是像普通salmon 刺身,我相信這价錢會有更好的選擇,其它食物也不談了,就是正常味道

用餐的地方不算很大,只有不到十張餐櫈,侍應帶我們到對著落地玻璃的二人櫈,對著的雖然只是樓景,要遠望才有一點海景,但window seat也不錯啊。

知道這裡的酒吧是由很出名的調酒師開設,當然要來杯Cocktail,Mr. No點的叫Grace(Pear vodka,pear juice,fresh lemon juice,honey syrup,lemongrass and fresh mint),顏色暗黃似菠蘿汁,加了兩枝香茅同薄荷葉做裝飾,實情是完全沒有菠蘿,而是梨汁加上蜂蜜糖漿,mix埋香茅既獨突香味,估唔到都幾夾,感覺好滋潤,而且酒精唔算太濃,男仔飲可能太mild,反而幾岩女仔飲。

因為我酒精敏感,飲得多酒塊面會紅到一撻撻,飲完杯香檳都已經夠,所以就叫左杯無酒精既Mocktail,Lavender Me (Lavender essence,lemon juice,violet syrup, coconut water),顏色係薰衣草紫色好靚,好少見雞尾酒加入薰衣草,記得好耐以前係間cafe叫過一杯薰衣草奶茶,難飲到極點,超濃烈造作薰衣草味,似藥水,濃到飲了幾啖覺得頭暈,相比之下,這杯的花香味很自然,味道微甜,感覺好relax。

前菜叫了兩款再加一個湯,先來是我叫的帶子,賣相好靚,係帶子殼上有煎香了的帶子粒,煎至半生熟,加上bacon脆片同以石班魚湯打出來既mousse,鮮甜海鮮咸香味集於一身。

Mr. No鐘意食鵝肝,所以叫了以鵝肝醬為主既前菜,鵝肝醬當然不及煎鵝肝豐腴香濃,但就無咁油膩,可以食多幾件,鵝肝醬旁邊有香檳啫哩,黑松露片,同青豆沙律,啫哩微微酒香同酸味,可平衡一下鵝肝醬既濃郁,加上松露片就將香味更加提升,另配有小多士同食,一脆一軟,美味。

前菜食完就上主菜,想食light d,所以點了藍鱈魚,鱈魚外面包住bacon一齊燒,魚肉吸收了bacon既咸香味,但略嫌燒得有點過火,魚肉乾了點,缺少了鱈魚應有既魚油同嫩滑口感,有點失望。

法式煮梨,一般常見會以紅酒煮,這裡是用香檳煮成的沙巴翁汁配煮了的梨,再用火槍在汁上面微燒一下,沙巴翁汁較甜,有蛋香及酒香,吃頭一兩件都OK,但吃多了真的好漏,我想還是紅酒煮梨合我們口味吧!

另一個是完全沒有概念是怎樣的甜品,完全是冒險試一下,一來到覺得賣相非常普通,什至有點肉酸,後來上網查了Rhum Baba是法國及意大利的傳統甜品,將圓筒形蛋糕浸了蘭姆酒風味的果糖漿,蛋糕浸濕了,口感十分奇怪,味道我只覺得好甜,像一個濕了的冬甩,不喜歡!還好不是慶祝生日,吃這個生日蛋糕應該想喊,下次都係叫返心太軟之類甜品算了,哈哈!

一進入餐廳, 即被整個環境和氣氛吸引, 即使未坐下, 未點餐, 巳給餐廳加分再加分, 那大大的水晶燈, 配以格調高雅的古銅天花板, 天啊!, 太美了~~~ 我們坐在酒吧附近, 不致太吵耳地享受當晚的Live Jazz, 同時又能欣賞店內極有心思的設計, 第一輪由bar tender為我們點了兩杯以香檳調配的cocktail, 名字巳經忘記了, 但兩杯cocktail同樣以花瓣作點綴, 愛死人了! 兩杯分別帶有清甜的果味, 不會太甜, 令味道變假, 同時香檳的微微酒精, 感覺非常舒服, 令人心情舒暢。當晚並沒有點正餐, 只點了小食, fish & chips普普通通, 但pork belly則充滿驚喜, 肉腍油香, 豬肉鮮味溢出, 肉與肉之間保留了點點脂肪, 郤不會過膩。店員殷勤, 常留意客人需要, 又會問客人對食物的意見等。當晚有機會往室外坐, 但室內相比於露天環境, 賞心悅目得多呢!

我們坐在酒吧附近, 不致太吵耳地享受當晚的Live Jazz, 同時又能欣賞店內極有心思的設計, 第一輪由bar tender為我們點了兩杯以香檳調配的cocktail, 名字巳經忘記了, 但兩杯cocktail同樣以花瓣作點綴, 愛死人了! 兩杯分別帶有清甜的果味, 不會太甜, 令味道變假, 同時香檳的微微酒精, 感覺非常舒服, 令人心情舒暢。

我在Esmé坐下並ordered了set lunch:
首先來的是餐湯──Cream of mushroom soup with whipped Brie,好喝的蘑菇湯我飲過不少,但我第一次飲加了Brie cheese的蘑菇湯,但效果卻出奇地好,既嚐到湯的絲滑、蘑菇的濃香,加上香味濃的化不開的Brie,叫人印象難忘。

然後是主菜──Poached Scottish salmon, dill weed sauce, seasonal vegetables, 以三文魚的嫩滑度,實在烹調得很出色,每一啖都感受到魚脂的肥美。沒有很花巧的plating,但與蔬菜的配搭只覺恰到好處,看得出廚師是走典雅法國風格的路線。

最後,當然不能少甜品──Orange and almond cake, orange syrup, 平平無奇的賣相,味道卻別有洞天,很exotic、很醒神,Orange and almond cake充滿熱情的aroma,叫人心情開朗;配上earl grey ice cream,絕對討人歡心!

這餐飯最正的,是我還有幸和行政總廚Joe Chan和暢談廚道!據聞他曾任職文華東方,以及法國二星餐廳Hotel du Centenaire,對他由餐具到食材到烹調的一絲不苟,十分欣賞。

去餐廳,最緊要讓人有再次光顧的意欲。
Maison Eight做到了。

Rooftop bar is always my favourite if I were to choose a place for a drink - of course, subject to weather condition which is quite a trouble in Hong Kong with unexpected drizzles. If you were fed up with Sevva, Cest la vie in Central, why not cross the harbour and reach a new building with eateries at 8 Observatory Road? Recently in my to-visit list, there lies the Seafood Room in Causeway Bay with a penthouse overseeing the Victoria Harbour as well. It just happened to be around my dinner place on a Saturday which incurred this visit to the Maison Eight. Maison means residence in French, and Eight implies "8" Observatory Road.

As a visitor to the Ballroom for a drink, I couldn't have the privilege to have a glance at the Bollinger Champagne room, but having a look at the rest of the areas is eye-opening enough. At one end, there lies Esmé which serves French cuisine designed by Joe Chan the Executive Chef. Much privacy is evident, as staff stations in front of the heavy wooden doors and one can only peep into the restaurant area which seems bright and cosy with light-coloured furnish.

With curated furnishings and grand chandeliers, the interior looks grand in dim light. Together with windows on one side overseeing the stunning skyline of the Victoria Harbour, it undoubtedly scores high in the aspect of ambience.

Walking towards the terrace from the Ballroom, there lies a corner with drum sets for live performance. It is not commonly found in bars and if you are happened to be a music lover, you must stay tuned at its Facebook page for upcoming performers! Nevertheless, putting the live band not centered in the open space makes it quite weird that music isn't spread in its best quality.

The roof terrace is the area that must not be missed if you are lucky enough to visit when the weather is fine. Being roofless but just with umbrellas, you will have to move inside if it happens to rain suddenly.

The geographical location is between the centre of Tsim Sha Tsui and Tsim Sha Tsui East, which makes the seaview not as panoramic as that of the Lounge at Inter-Continental and Aqua. Quite a good choice for tourists still, the view is comparable to Sugar in Tai Koo Shing which isn't that centered to the Harbour view as well.

Salvatore's signature cocktails are surprisingly not expensive given this prime location and stunning view - ranging from $88 to $118, which is in general lower than that of Aqua. These are the cocktails brought by Salvatore to Hong Kong, which is his first establishment in Asia, from other places such as London and Las Vegas.

Not fancy of creative cocktails or not a fan of mixologist, you may just grab a glass of wine by skimming through the wine list. Interestingly, I found red wine from Yunnan which is not commonly seen in bars in Hong Kong, as Chinese red wine is not crowned with attention and fame for its quality..

Garnished with a tiny jalapeno, this must be the Spicy Fifty! Not at all spicy in the liquor, as it is a mix of sour and sweet - sourness brought by fresh lime juice, and sweetness brought by Stoli Vanilla Vodka, elderflower cordial and honey syrup. The combination of flavours is extraordinary, especially brought by its slight warmness when it is served.

I am the one who picked Spicy Fifty, but at the end swapped with my male friend who picked this cocktail, "Grace". Serving in a highball glass, the mild yellowish drink truly tastes feminine and elegant as how it is named. It is a mild, sweet drink particularly matched with summer to cool one down. Containing Grey Goose Pear Vodka, fresh pear juice, fresh lemon juice and again, honey syrup, the drink is garnished with a slice of dried apple and several lemongrass straws. Recommended for ladies but not men, as it is way too mild!

While having no nuts freely served, we couldn't resist ordering some finger food. Minimum price is $68 and seems affordable, though we became reserved after seeing the portion of what we ordered - under the category of "for sharing" but it isn't really that big!

Rillettes is a traditional French food which means braised meat. With French influence of Esme the fine-dining restaurant, it is not surprising to find this on the snacks menu.

Accompanied by four pieces of bruschetta, duck rillettes were moulded in a round shape, garnished with several pieces of pickles. Amount of rillettes is in fact more than enough to be spread on bruschetta, but it isn't that much as expected to be fit for "sharing".

Shredded duck meat (from a confit?) is not creamy and a bit difficult to be spread firmly on bruschetta as it has nothing to hold onto. Healthy as it seems, not much fat or butter seems to have involved. The texture is like shredded dried scallop in Chinese cuisine.

It serves as a decadent snack - duck meat is rich in flavour and surprisingly not unctuous if it was served in the form of a duck confit. Pickles are sour highlight which neutralises duck meat's intense savory flavour. Bruschetta pieces are crunchy and give a good support to the toppings.

Jazz Organix was the band who played the beautiful tunes through the night. Drinks performed well and lived up to our expectation, however food portion is a bit small. It would be better to have a more local snack menu although it is a good try to have French food as nibbles.

Maison Eight is undoubtedly in my to-go list if friends suggest going to Knutsford Terrace a drink - which is quite a boring place lack of quality bars like this. Around a hundred HKD for a cocktail is acceptable, pricing of which is between that of top-notch bars and local pubs/bars. With no minimum charge at my visit on a Saturday night, I can simply spend a hundred and chill out for the whole night with the stunning view - what a weekend bargain!
