To preface, my expectations of mexican food in HK are rock-bottom. i eat El Burro and Cali-Mex with minimal complaint even though i know they're both mediocre. But Taco Loco is TERRIBLE. Service is fine, and drinks are cheap but that doesn't do much to blunt the effect of the truly horrific food.First of all, everything is served in bizarre disposable wrapping/plastic containers... made for takeaway as the place is, there needs to be some minimum standard for dine-in right? no? okay.As for the food: Chips and GuacamoleChips are overfried and stale - way too crunchy and with no appealing flavor except oilGuacamole and salsa not bad actually. But served in tiny plastic containers which kills all the appeal (for takeaway i know). The chips just ruin it however.Barbacoa TacoCarnitas TacoBeef Machaca TacoSome Chicken TacoChorizo TacoNo need for individual descriptions because they're all bland, dry and lifeless. If you took a bite of any of them, I cannot imagine you being able to tell what meat they were. Served with blackbeans, and nothing else on a soggy corn (i think?) tortilla.  Just no effort to be good at all.Real mexican food is effortless. Fresh ingredients (often very cheap cuts of meat) and a few condiments with a bit of hotsauce/salsa. Tex-Mex is more complicated and accounts for American preferences with a lot more cheese and sauce. Both have their defenders and I don't mind either. Taco loco is neither. It's just terrible.Could not recommend less. 继续阅读

My friend and I were craving mexcian so decided to come to this palce for lunch as we frequently dined here in the past. We were presented with the regular menu. I remember they used to have a lunch menu which is also (still) featured on their website. When I asked the server for  the lunch menu, she said it is no longer offered. We ordered Machaca beef burrito, Chilli Verde Chicken burroto and two iced lemon tea. The burrito was served just minutes after taking the order - made us suspect the freshness of it. They were both very disappointing - super dry and seemed under seasoned. The iced lemon tea was not any better - how do you screw up a simply iced lemon tea?! Needless to say, we both will not be returning here. 继续阅读

Ordered 3 tacos1 beef, almost flavorless, served in a soggy tortilla, no cheese, smothered in bland salsa.1 pork, tasted like BBQ sauce, served in a soggy tortilla, no cheese, smothered in bland salsa1 chicken, a shredded green chicken substance that tasted so bad I spit it out. The taste and smell was something familiar but not in a good way. What was it??!?My stomach feels bad now. $180hkd for the three tacos and some ice water. I very politely asked the manager if they changed the recipe for their chicken. She gave me a wilting look and said nothing. I suppose she used to getting food complaints. The service was ok, however I was the only person there. Left $20hkd tip anyway. HK has no good mexican food to speak of. Taco Loco used to be the one place I could get my taco fix. After today I will never return. I am sure I wont be missed either.

The hidden little Mexican restaurant is running in Soho for quite a time since I notice it. Green, Red and Yellow is the three main colors of it, making the little corner still attractive to the Hongkong eaters passing by. It was during the peak dining time and Happy Friday night after work when I and my friend arrived in Soho, and we have totally no idea what's for the dinner. The one-side long window facing to the busy middle-level escalator and two standing table outside the entrance caught my eyes (don't know why...) and of course I'm always open to yummy Mexican cuisine for the faction to nachos and cheese. (Plus it belongs to the Dining Concepts Group, which give me good impression with the other restaurant they have, eg. Bistecca, Bouchon, Nahm) The menu is quite simple, not offering a lot of choices, but from taco salad to burrito; from beef to vegetarian; from wine to special margarita; plus a small DIY concept for the self-selected side dishes or fillings/toppings, it is a normal and generic dining place.Chili Verde Chicken Taco Salad $58with lettuce, cheese, beans, corn chips, salsa fresca & sour creamBeef Gringo Nachos $82with tortilla chips, cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, jalapenos, sour cream and cilantroTwo dishes actually are enough for two girls, with the rich cheese and vegetables per potion. I am failed to comment on the service and presentation, for the restaurant is considered as a super casual or even pre-dinner/catch-up place for me. (They must provide a lot of take-away/delivery service; ALL take-away bowls!)Anyways, I like the Beef Nachos, which is thickly covered by the melted cheese and with the fresh cut potato and onion chops, and olive circles, it didn't taste very heavy but it was very sticky and cheesy! Tortilla chips underneath were amazingly crispy in the middle-thickness and large-size. Even to take the chips alone, I was satisfied by the baked corn flour smell. Enough cheese, crispy chips and all fresh vegetable ingredients, make this normal dish impressive to me.The shredded chicken breast salad with the mild green chili salsa sauce was not rich in taste. Comparing to the texture, I would recommend beef more than chicken breast, coz they are using the real chicken breast (which means always a bit dry and not tasty...), while the beef is chewy and less dryer.Margarita Frozen $55Mango Margarita $62Mexican food night, how can you miss a glass of frozen Margarita?! Mine was mango flavor which was still fresh and not too sweet as I imagine. Of course, you cannot expect the real alcohol-alcohol scent in this with-dinner drink, but I do think, it would be a good idea to have one or two Margarita in this humid hot weather 继续阅读
