After exploring some Lunar New Year markets nearby, we decided to have a quick early dinner before heading home. Looking about we decided on a very old looking cha chan teng.Menu is in Chinese only. There is no 10% service charge. I noticed they had Hainan chicken rice ($60) and they claimed it was their speciality so I decided to give it a try.It came with a soup of either the daily Chinese soup or borscht. I decided on the Chinese soup. It was didn't have any flavor at all.The chicken rice was similar as well. The chicken was not boneless and very tough. It also had no flavor but was just super oily. The rice also had no flavor and was just plain oily. The oil wasn't chicken oil as well. It just tasted like oil. The vegetables were just lettuce placed on the side and also drenched in oil. Probably one of the worst Hainan chicken rice I've had in Hong Kong.Boyfriend played it safe an ordered from the afternoon tea set menu. He chose a spaghetti bolognese ($50). This was a bit better. There was a lot of mince meat and the amount of tomato sauce was plenty. The spaghetti was not over cooked.I wasn't too thrilled with what I ordered.
