This dai pai dong is located in one of the alleys in Central, Hong Kong. Actually, there are not many left and this one has been there for many years till now. They don‘t open everyday and not at night too. They close at 5:30pm and only open Monday to Friday! As I said it is in the alley, so the venue is not big and it’s open. Ambience is not very good, no air conditioned and the place is expected not to be that clean. But there is always a long queue at lunch hour. There is a stand for the line up to be seated and no reservation is entertained. All customers need to be there in order to get a seat. This place is easy to access by bus, tram, minibus or MTR. It is just 5-min walk from Exit E1, Hong Kong MTR Station. It’s at street level, so wheelchair is ok. Back to their menu, it is a simple one… They serve noodles, so you have to choose what kind of noodles you prefer and then how many items you choose. The price of a bowl of noodle depends on the no of items you choose. Single item costs HK$50 and two items costs HK$56. You can choose beef brisket, ox tongue, beef entrails, fish dumpling, fish ball, pork ball or beef ball. They also have side dishes like deep fried fish skin or deep fried wonton. They serve vegetables too. Bear in mind that there is a minimum charge person which is HK$20 and they accept Cash only. I wanted to try the deep fried wonton but unfortunately, it‘s all sold out. So, I ordered the deep fried fish skin. It’s hot when it‘s served but I found they are too thick and too hard. Eventhough I dipped into the soup for a while, it’s still hard. Talking about the soup base, it is very nice. It‘s hot and not too salty. It’s tasty. The ox tongue I ordered (2 pieces) are very tender and thick… yummy! About the beef brisket, there are lots in my bowl and I can‘t really finish them. They are tender but not as tender as the ox tongue. The texture is a bit strange, maybe too meaty to me. The taste is good though. Overall, this 2 items bowl of noodle is very big and the quantity of meat is very generous.
