Another cute little restaurant in the Pun, owned by a Shanghainese family. They've actually got many other nice reviews here at OR. BUT, with the MTR opening soon and the exit is right outside the store... I can't help but worry about their rent. They serve $38 lunch combo, including soup; as well as many other shanghainese snacks. p.s The wife apparently knows EVERYBODY. The husband is the wonderful cook. They are noisy, but friendly and most importantly serve good, authentic home-cooking. What more can you ask for from a family?! 继续阅读

Every time I take a taxi back home in Hong Kong, I kept seeing this yellow sign with red writing "小上海" (translated as Little Shanghai). I love Shanghaiese food, so I have been dying to try this place.Finally, there was this day my MIL actually ditched me for lunch, so I decided to walk down to First Street to 小上海 for lunch! It was such a hot day but I really really wanted to try their Shanghaiese fried noodles $42 plus their boiled veggies $12.When the dish arrived it looked a bit oily, but it certainly wasn't when I took a bite. There was a lot of crunchy veggies amongst it as well, it was delicious. I love the slightly chewy Shanghaiese noodles, and polished off this plate in no time!The veggies are just simply boiled, not very flavoursome, but it was perfect for me... Made me feel a bit healthy kekekeke.. Well, until I started putting chilli sauce onto the veggies I also decided to order a cup of cold soy milk drink - the soy milk was icy cold and flavoursome - it absolutely hits the spot.After I went on my merry way back home, I couldn't forget this little shop, so I went back the next week with hubby.Hubby ordered their set meal with mapo tofu, rice and soup HKD$38. I tried some of the mapo tofu and felt that it was a bit bland and the tofu doesn't really hold well. The flavours are ok.I would love to order the Shanghaiese noodles again, but decided to try their Shanghai wonton instead. Perfectly wrapped, the wonton skins are slightly thicker than the ones I was used to but it was even more delicious that way. The insides had a perfect balance of pork and veggies, it was deliciousI completely forgot to take a pic of our last dish, which is a stir fried capsicum and shredded potatoes HKD$52. It was delicious and crunchy and fantastic with rice.I seriously love this homey little place which is run by a husband and wife team. So it isn't the bestest food in the whole wide world, but there's just something about it that made it so special that makes me want to come back again and again. 7.5/10 继续阅读

一个人散散心,走到西环找美食去~行上斜坡,找到这间上海小店~ 见没有太多食客,便推门内进~店内不大,有数张枱,有电视机~ 店员似是一家人,虽说是餐厅,但觉得比较像进了一家人的家吧~看看餐牌:已经决定了, 最出名的煎云吞($35)及红豆春卷($20)~那年轻的店员很有礼貌地问我红豆春卷要一齐上还是之后才上,我说一齐上吧~ 虽然只是一条小小的问题,却令我觉得很贴心~由于是即制的关系,等了15-20分钟,才端上美食~首先是 红豆春卷($20)共有3条小小的红豆春卷,咬开一半,红豆分量刚刚好,不会太甜,红豆与春卷想不到这么配,脆脆的,可是春卷皮有点儿太厚了,但总的来说很好吃~煎云吞($35)Wow! 热腾腾新鲜出炉的食物最好吃!但奉劝一句,还是不要太心急个人是比较不喜欢沾酱汁或醋,因为觉得原汁原味最可口!咬下去,想不到还保留了少许汁,香浓的馅料,香脆的外皮,wow! 刚开始以为自己吃不完8只云吞,但实在太美味了,一口接一口,不消一会便碟底朝天吃毕,带著满足的笑容及肚皮离开了这小小的上海店:) 继续阅读

还记得在下有篇文章说过,以往都会来到西环,尤其是西营盘和坚尼地城。初时都会觉得没有太多东西可供选择,可是最近却又多了机会到来,而且却又发现多了食肆进驻。除了有新的餐厅外,其实还有一些街坊小店,却又好像被遗忘般。最近不停留意西营盘和向西的食肆,看看有否啱心水的餐厅。当在下行到第一街的时候,却又发现了一间很平常,也不起眼的小店,名为小上海,在下以过客般走进店子,她真如其名是间小店,坐位不足二十个食客也只是几个而言。从餐牌里,没有华丽的食物,卖的只是大路上海食物,猪排菜饭,红烧狮子头,饺子,担担面,以及标榜上海人做的家常菜。其实在下也不是经常嘴刁的人,来一个普普通通的午餐已经很好了。餐汤是冬瓜汤,但餐牌却写著美味靓汤。虽然汤中没有薏米,只有两片冬瓜,味道淡淡的,但是外边天时暑热,来喝一口冬瓜汤,无疑是可以消消暑,降降温吧!上海菜除了粗炒外,菜饭也是特色,来一个洋蒽猪排菜饭,既传统又可多一点菜食吓。大堆洋蒽把猪排覆盖了,而且还被炒过,香浓而软腍,猪排没有被炸过,只是煎熟了便上碟,没有香口的感觉,也不见得松化,只有的软腍。自家制制豆浆丰有豆味,冰冻可人,也没有豆浆粉,不算太甜。小上海只是一间小小店子,做的只是街坊生意,因此餐费也很亲民。虽然是一间街坊小店,但却又有点人情味,在下只是路过,顺道吃一顿午餐,但是女店主却又好客不得了,还了请了在下一粒糖,虽然在下与店主素未詌面,但如此赠送了一粒糖,也不是甚么名贵的糖果,这实在令在下感觉到小店的人情味。 继续阅读

最近迷上了捐窿捐罅寻找隐世美食,记得早前浏览网站发现西环的「小上海」,脑里突然闪起到此一游的冲动,今天便即兴爬上位处半山的第一街,光顾这间名不经传的街坊小店。对于远离居所的西环向来认识不深,但这阵子无意间频频来到该区开饭,好像是一种奇妙的安排。花点脚力由长命斜东边间铲上第一街,远处就看到「小上海」鲜黄耀目的招牌,靠此引领找到外观朴实无华的舖头。店子面积细小说不上有任何装修,简简单单地放著几张折枱胶椅,头顶则透著光管通明的灯火。不知道冷气是否正在开放,只见挂墙风扇不停转动,电视则播著《城市论坛》维园阿伯的争论声,好一个典型的家庭小店格局。之前食评提及老板娘亲切热情,是日光顾却未能感受得到,反而为客人落单的男子显得有点冷漠。舖头主打平民上海菜式,最经济实惠的莫过于客饭套餐,小菜、白饭连例汤也只售$36,其余面食和炒饭等亦是三四十元左右。盛得满满的西洋菜汤率先送上,若靠单人之力把整碗摆平,恐伯无法消耗紧接的食物,还是两人分享更为妥当。菜汤的温度颇高只能细啖慢慢喝,油光满面的关系要用羹舀起肥腻的一层。素知西洋菜汤具清热润肺、健脾养胃的功效,然而这煲调味过重咸度稍高,感觉上不太健康。乌卒卒的糖醋排骨粒粒体型小巧,酱汁的份量恰到好处,刚刚足够包裹肉块的表面,不会出现太湿太溜的情况。可是糖醋的味道较为清怡,个人喜爱酸多一点甜多一点,这样应该更能刺激胃口促进食欲。排骨的肉质略为坚硬和嚡口,需要花点牙力方能让骨肉分离,大大降低菜式的美味程度。另店家毫不吝啬地自动配上大量蔬菜,可惜今天的白灼津白并非小妹所好,观其发黄的颜色已叫我敬而远之。套餐的白饭可加$6转菜饭,小店所用的米粒较一般肥大短身,见其湿润的外表还以为会很腍软,入口却又觉得不难接受。蔬菜的份量落得非常慷慨,几乎每一口都有丰富的纤维,菜粒切得大片不会过份细碎,配合充满油香的白饭粒,简简单单已觉可口。冷盘熏鱼有单件和整份出售,小试牛刀只叫了一块品尝。熟悉小妹的朋友都知我是鱼痴,眼前的熏鱼不算切得厚身,不费吹灰之力已能将之干掉。被酱油腌过的关系鱼身呈现褐色,虽然是冷盘却没有冻冰冰的感觉,是处于室温的理想水平。鱼骨不多而鱼肉有点干巴巴,酱油的味道轻轻地在口腔游走,从没让人留下深刻的印象。看见年轻的店员在厨房对外包水饺,为食的小妹又忍不住落柯打了。白澄澄的上海水饺面卖相单调,四只饺子胀鼓鼓十分饱满,其外皮没有北方做法般重殿殿,顺滑之余带点烟韧。菜肉馅料比例参半不松散,调味温和不怕抢去猪肉的鲜美,咬开时丰富的肉汁缓缓流出,刹是新鲜又美味!上海面条软扒扒缺乏弹性,煮后有点糊身很易滞口,汤底也被浆至泛起胶质,可是没甚味道感觉挺怪诞,此时惟有呼唤静候多时的豆瓣酱打救,这款咸中带酸的酱料香惹非常,为平凡的面条带来点点色彩。据闻小店的甜品红豆春卷乃人气之物,那又怎能错过?一客三条的春卷炸得不油不腻,外皮比平日见到的厚得多,感觉就如吃著饼干一般。红豆馅料极为充裕,磨得幼滑味道不过甜,较在上海酒楼尝到的豆沙锅饼更见优胜。唉!又有小昆虫在桌面经过,这儿的卫生情况的确需要改善呢!虽然是日午膳丰富需要捧著肚子离开,然而菜式的质素与期望相距甚远,心里不禁有点戚戚然。其实每次进入陌生的餐厅,都是抱著搏一铺的心态。今次,我赌输了! 继续阅读
