Although The Shortbread Company has closed down, there is Shortbread Teas in Central which is owned by the same people serving quiches, breakfasts, scrumptious scones, cakes and an endless selection of teas.Expats and BBC's will be delighted by this tea room.Anyway, if you still miss The Shortbread Company, you can get a free cup and saucer at the new place in Central from now until the 14th october while stocks last.Shortbread Teas is on 55 Wellington Street, which is round the corner from The Chippy which has closed down.http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=139095No strings attached!!! I have already nabbed a big cup and a small cup.There are three sizes: big, medium and small.As usual, I had the back bacon sarnie with some mushrooms, the bacon was salty but not too salty and the bacon was tender with the fat trimmed off.More teapots and teaware inside the new place!!

随意逛逛大埔旧墟街头,竟然发现The Shortbread,意想不到的发现。环境好warm,好cozy。十点几,过了正常早餐时间,人唔多,好优闲。餐单选择亦唔错,有好heavy嘅All Day Breakfast亦有light啲嘅。但今日唔算饿,只order咗Tomato and Egg Toast。味道几好,啲蕃茄好味,多士亦唔怕太干,Good!老板娘系度train紧个新同事,睇到佢好有heart,每个细节位都会议提点。全程都系无滋扰情况下,细心品尝美食。 周末个带老公同囝囝再嚟!

I've been here with friends and family a few times over the last two years and everything we've eaten has been delicious, especially the Scotch pie, porridge and quiche. After reading other people's comments about the Scotch pies, just want to say that Scotch pie is not supposed to be anything like England's Shepherds pie, and the meat inside (usually beef) is not supposed to be sloppy so yes you could say it's drier... but so tasty and best served as they do with baked beans.

期待的一天终于来临了, 渴望一试的餐厅, 集了天时地利同人和. 终于找到一个合适的时间, 去品尝这一家店的英伦风味.简单的cafe仔设计, 令我感觉到英国茶吧仔的风格, 而且在大埔墟呢一个旧社区出现这样的一家小店, 总想问他们是否选址错误, 这等的悠闲餐厅, 不是应该开在半山区才对吗. 格局同经营方式, 就是茶吧仔一间, 做各式各样的批同最出名的英国菜, All day breakfast 同Fish and Chips. 台上更有英国常见的酱汁, 俾你用来点薯条食, 在这儿坐了一会, 看著两名老外厕子忙忙碌碌著, 店内的英国鬼在高谈阔论. 真的令人感觉, very UK. 我叫的是Scoch Pie套餐, 他们为此物改了一个中文名, 叫猪肉牛肉馅批. 再加上一句, 源自苏格兰. 看见这样的食物, 真的有如回到英国的心境, 顿时, 有点不能自拔.套餐, 包了汤, 是日的餐汤是一碟非常浓香的西兰花汤. 正宗的外国汤, 就是喜欢把菜打成蓉, 再加少许忌廉同调味来做汤. 这样的汤, 留住了蔬菜的原汁同原味, 保留了应有的纤维质, 热热的, 浓浓的, 充满了英式的田园风味. 主菜来了, 一个小小的英式肉批, 加上沙律同茄汁豆. 带点硬的批皮, 猪肉牛肉混合的馅料, 也许带点不寻常的腥味, 不习惯的话, 也是挺吓人的. 若是喜欢的话, 这一个半腥半膻的味道, 配上一等的奶茶, 是绝对的香口. 再者, 相伴的沙律同茄豆, 令我感受到一个非常英伦的感觉. 最后是奶茶, 淡淡的English Breakfast Tea, 用纯鲜奶冲调, 用来配上英国的食物, 有一种美妙的感觉. 茶淡奶香, 食物就味浓膻香. 淡茶冲走多余的咸味, 咸味又补回茶淡的不足. 不相伯仲的配搭, 好令人觉得舒服. 慢慢的叹, 慢慢的食. 店子虽然未见full house, 但人客一样是不绝的. 不过, 始终觉得, 这一家小店, 出现在中半山, 会比较现址的大埔墟来得更加合适.

家住大埔的我其实好钟意揾呢D地方坐~~(至LIKE人情味)如果有好嘢食直头会做咗饭堂,其实我第一次食都系食佢既早餐,但认真讲真系一般,但好在,我俾咗第二次机会佢,佢个苏格兰批真系无敌咁好食,下午去食LATE LUNCH真系不为过(亦系至抵星期一至五中午会送汤、包同嘢饮~)讲返苏格兰批:佢批皮松脆,入边系免治肉的内饼,好香,我钟意既佢实在的感觉,实在的意思系佢食到好香既肉味,好过D大餐厅肉饼无肉味而且中间好JUICY,中午系衬沙律,无咁‘流’晚就衬焗豆同薯条,薯条真系好好味~~一个女仔食一个就比较辛苦,但如果SHARE就好啲今次我就食咗英国既名菜fish n chip个鱼好新鲜,至少无雪味炸得不错整体其实系满意。呢间餐厅真系好啱倾计,(而且入到去都唔好赶时间)如果要赶食其实嘢算啦!~会煮得要时间即系代表佢系即叫即煮,唔系咩都整定先MA!~我之所以钟意呢度系因为真系好有人情味,老板娘又NICE,老板同我估系老板个仔(外国人X2)都系好好人,得闲会出嚟同客倾计,(虽然我食咁多次都无同佢地倾,可能次次去衬都有细路帮衬,佢地就会去揾细路倾计同玩)又见到D客同佢地交流得好开心,但只系入嚟饮杯水都好欢迎。(题外,再讲真系可以由杯水睇到诚意,佢D水系真系放柠檬,系好香的柠味,饮得好舒服)除了诚意之外,我觉得呢度嘢食味道好实而不华,感觉好HOMEMAKE就好似个苹果批咁!~(又一必食推介之选)系好明显传统的苹果批,苹果好大粒啊!~而且好有苹果味,但当中所用的苹果系偏酸,可能系怕个批底腻因为佢个批边你一放叉拮入去系松脆到直落碟边个只一放入口就就知佢好足料,松脆既边入口一阵酥酥既感觉,之后向口入边溶化,个阵牛油味就向呢个时候涌出嚟!~一字记之曰:正!个FD即刻笑我,唔怪得之要同侍应生讲:“唔介意错手切大旧D咁啦!~”加上佢D价钱真系唔系太贵,而且系合理。所以真系要俾机会呢D有心机既舖头,几时都话好食既嘢唔一定系贵,而好食既细舖一定要支持,唔系的话,执咗就喊都嚟唔切。香港,有特色既食店卖少见少了
