8Pots HK (Jaffe Road)
2019-06-21

Tasty Nyonya Food
Nyonya Coming
2019-06-18
This is not a big restaurant with some 20 seats. It also advocated the orginal taste of the Malaysian and Singaporean Nyonya food. I was so attracted to give it a try.The shop was special that we have to write the order ourselves and then pay at the counter first before the food would be served. We ordered a Laksa with shrimp and fish ball, as well as a banlan sandwich. The food came really fast. The Laksa soup tasted absolutely amazing. Not being overly sweet or spicy or sour, it stroke the very right balance of taste and even out-tasted many laksa in Hong Kong or even those I tried in Singapore. There was also a mix of noodles, very thin ones and normal noodles. The thin noodles had absorbed the essence of the laksa soup and was really nice. You simply cannot miss it.For the banlan sandwich, the banlan sauce was homemade and special. The sandwich was hot and scrispy. Suggest to share out the snack and have a bite for everyone.…Read More

Warm treats for festive season
Paradise Dynasty

We did not make a booking in advance for the celebration of the Mother’s Day. Fortunately, there was not a long queue and we were able to secure a table with around 15 minutes of waiting. The food was generally delicious. The chicken with wine was particularly good. The fried steamed bread was nice with cream milk. The xiaolongbao were fabulous which was in different colour having different flavour. My favourite one was the one with black truffe sauce which tasted amazing.Putting food aside, the restaurant was absolutely thoughtful by preparing Mother’s Day props with warm words. The staff also helped each and every table of customers take family pictures. This was such a decent surprise to all eaters and worth a million of commendation.…Read More

Unbreakable Tea Cover
BAI FUNG BENTO (Hysan Place)
2019-06-13
The chicken wing mealbox was rich in ingredients, where there were veggie, corns, egg, vermicelli, apart from rice and chicken wings. The wings were good and well seasoned. Having mixed ingredients allowed a spectrum of tastes. The corns and vermicelli were another key part of the whole mealbox apart from the chicken wings. Suggest to mix the mealbox thoroughly before eating.Just one thing to criticise. The zealed plastic cover of the tea was too tough and I was unable to plug in the soft drinking straw. I failed to remove the cover even with a chopstick. At last, I had to use a sharp toothpick to dig a hole in order to put the straw in...…Read More

Jika Udon
2019-06-08
The shop combines two resturants into one. So you would be able to order both udon and ramen. We ordered two udons, one with beef and one with mussel. Unfortunately, the one with mussel was basically tasteless. I would not be able to describe any taste, be it sweet, sour, spicy or bitter, for the udon.I also tried a bit of the udon with beef. It was comparatively better, at least have some taste of beef. Yet still, it failed to get my mouth and tongue rich of taste.I would most probably not come over again...…Read More

The restuarant is another hiden choice in a factory building in Kwun Tong. Although being on the ground level, it may be a bit tricky to find. The decoration is specticular, filling up the room with unique things Hong Kong, such as a signage board of a Mutual Aid Committee. The lunch menu did not offer much choices, most of us chose the eel bowl rice. The rice was average with the eel not being very fresh and tasty. The juice and the fried egg had taken up the role to make up the difference. The fried egg was smooth and tasted well. But if I would have another chance, I may wish to try other dishes instead.…Read More

Tak Shing Tea Stall
2019-06-08

Floom Floom
2019-06-08

Fat Duck Den Cuisine

…Read More

Salmon is good
Toriyamana
2019-05-21
There are a lot of restaurants nearyby in the shopping mall but this is one of the most top rated one. Thereby, we chose this to give a try.The smoke salmon rice which came together with a mini udon as a set was prefect. The rice was the type of sushi rice that was sinply appetizing, the salmon was also tendered and juicy. The udon was also delicious with 3/4 crab willow. The avocado and soft shell crab hand scroll was fair. The soft shell crab was nice but I cannot quite taste the avocado which was my all time favourite...I would like to order a thin-cut ox tongue but it was not available but thick-cut did (a bit contradictory, isnt it?). Turned out the thick-cut was as nice as expected.Lastly the fried pineapple was not too good, being juicy but yet too sour with little sweet.Overall my choice of food may not be good as this shop should excel more on the sushi and sashimi.…Read More

Worth a Try Thai Food
V.THAi
2019-05-21
A decent place for Thai and Vietnam food. I arrived late in the eveing at around 9:30pm and two of us sat on the cosy bench which is spacious and probably for four persons. We only waited for some minutes for the food. The mini-bite snack platter was designed for three people as there were a count if three for each snack. All were hot as a sign of freshly fried/ heated up at least. Garlic bread and spring roll were normal. Chicken skewers tasted good. Fried chicken that was wrapped with banlan leaf was special but yet maybe a bit over-cooked. Fried fish cake and soft shell crap were too salty. But the platter was good in general. The pineapple fried rice tasted great. The rice was not too oily, tasted quite okay in the conbination of nuts, meat floss. I also spent some effort tearing the pineapple off its shell at last. The pineapple was refreshing. But this portion was really too much for two persons, better for three.…Read More

Nice eating environment
Hamsta Crown Coffee

Time to explore hidden good places again in industrial buildings in Kwun Tong. It is not particularly hidden as there is an advertisement board at the front door right in How Ming Street.A genuine Japanese styled restaurant as it advocated, with tatami seatings at a corner. You may consider making such a seat request when you call and reserve (do remember to call in advance as I have failed to reserve in last minute for two times). But this time when I paid a patronage, the shop was not fully occupied.A set was dished out nicely with beautiful plates. The udon with beef tasted appetizing and the onigiri was also very well done. I liked the Udon soup a lot and the beef is not too fatty. The sweetest thing to mention was definitely the poached egg. It was sweet but not overly sweet, salty but not overly salty. But the side dish was not fresh enough and the miso soup was quite salty. Could have done better to improve the eating experience.Overall the food is quite good and I really enjoyed the enviornment. Would definitely come again if I have time.…Read More

Very Good Molten Choco Cake
CAFÉ LANDMARK
2019-05-19
Landmark is a pricy place and thus this was an expensive attempt, yet being very surprising on the food experience. The staff was very polite and proactively helped out to put on the napkins, and pointed us to the toilet etc.The lobster bisque was luscious and stomache-filling. Luckily we just ordered one and splitted the soup which would otherwise made us both full. This is a must-try soup! Then we had the fried beef tenderloin with seared foie gras. It was nicely decorated and the beef was juicy. Most importantly, the foie gras was exceptionally smooth and mouthtearing! The abalone, conpoy and egg white fried rice was less outstanding and completely covered by the nice soup and the beef and foie gras. Suggest not to add this if you just got two persons, way too much to handle. The dessert came last but continued to surprise us with the good taste. It was truly molten and we could have it all day. I joked that we should have four molten choco cake next time without anything else!…Read More

Maybe just for drinks
Cenacolo Steak & Pasta
2019-05-19
I thought the place is a bar purely for drinks but it did serve meals. Gave it a try in a Saturday for lunch.Given to know that sirloin steak and ribeye are at similar prices, I opt for the latter with no hesitation.A pumpkin soup was served. I have forgotten to take a picture but I could recall that it is generally quite nice with acceptable sweetness while not being too creamy. The medium ribeye was not quite medium, more on the rare side. It was not the main point as the cook varies on the degree of wellness from time to time. But the thing which kept me away was that the steak was not juicy enough. Furthermore, the veggie at the steak’s side was not good at all. They did not taste the normal way they should be and the textual was weird as well (eg the yellow pepper and carrot were just too soft, if not 80% wet and oily).Perhaps better to come for drinks...…Read More

Worth a try for food and dessert
2019-05-01
We came late at around 9:45 for dinner on a Thursday night. Around half of the seats were empty as most customers should have finished and gone. The place was decently furnished and is suitable for couples both for food or just desserts. We ordered a salad, a risotto, and a choco mousse cake. The salad is fair but maybe a little too dry with less sauce. The risotto is really nice but should be best for sharing or otherwise too heavy to finish alone.Forgotten to take pictures of the mousse cake but it also taste quite good. Just a bit weird for giving us the mousse cake before having the risotto and salad, or I should have told them to give us the dessert at last.Worth a try!…Read More
