I went to this medium sized Japanese izakaya after a night of partying in SoHo. The access is on Portland street; it’s on floor 2 of a building. Take the elevator; the floor is marked. Space is nicely laid out, and has a large menu of Japanese dishes. There’s bar seating (izakaya-style) and table seating for more intimate dining. I ordered the 12-course omakase. Except I misread the menu and thought it was 12 dishes. Each course was 1-4 dishes. I only realized my mistake when course 15 showed up and I determined I had not miscounted. This is a LOT OF FOOD. Forget AYCE, this is more than enough!Everything was delicious - from sashimi-style bites, nigiri, tempura, a custard egg, and grilled tuna. I ordered a beer as well, which was good. The only complaint I had is that the sake menu was good - but only if you ordered a whole bottle. Otherwise the only option was Geikkeikan. It’s a Cantonese bakery. There are approximately a million of these in Kowloon and they are all about the same: pretty good, your mileage may vary on certain pastries. I had several of the regular pastries:- bbq pork bun- pineapple bun- cocktail bunI particularly liked the BBQ pork bun, as the filling was very fresh-tasting and nice. All of them had a nice, fluffy texture and appeared to be freshly-baked.The selection was quite large - I didn’t try more but there were probably several dozen different pastries to choose from. They all looked similar in quality to the ones I tried. This one is consistent, but a little expensive due to the proximity to the Langham Place mall. But hey, you pay for convenience. Ranked in the world’s top 50 bars, Quinary is all about inventive cocktails at eye-watering prices. Decor is posh and modern, with a polished presentation and excellent service. Bartenders are experts and craftsmen, dishing out top-tier if a little experimental cocktails. You’re not going to find your basic twist on a Manhattan here, but rather cocktails with ingredients like Parmesan cheese and pine needles. Sounds weird? Maybe, but the team and Quinary know what they’re doing, and have a dedicated clientele and respects it. An overlooked side note is the food: a large menu of bar snacks that are a cut above the usual, such as duck spring rolls and fried whitebait round out a great dining experience. Can’t miss. …查看更多

The Ming Court is a beautiful restaurant on the 6th floor of the Cordis Hotel. I say this because the decor is honestly the best part of my experience there. I ordered three courses of Cantonese food, all fairly classic examples. I’m familiar with Cantonese food, so I figured these would be a good way to judge. At every step I was disappointed. I am shocked that this place has a Michelin star. The tofu was soft and delicate, but the seasoning was bland and unremarkable. The half-duck was greasy and lukewarm. Chicken and crab soup had crabshell piece in it! Unacceptable. Wine menu was fine, but leaned sweet and unremarkable. Service was also bad. The waiter could not communicate clearly, and was unable to provide recommendations for ordering. They did not offer me tea, and actually removed the tea service. I had to ask twice for water, and never received it! The sommelier was good, though. Worst meal I had in Hong Kong, and one of the most expensive. …查看更多
