Needing a place to recharge & we were nearby, so we stopped into @couchclub_top to eat, drink & chill 👌🏻🤗.The menu was quite big and after looking through it all, Wifey settled on the Kani Miso Crab Fat /w Toast & I got their Signature Tiramisu Ball. Drink-wise we got an Oat Milk Flat White & a Lemon Espresso Tonic 🤤.The crab with the toast is a must order! Really good flavour - great crabby miso served with a nice fluffy toast! The base of their tiramisu was fantastic too, with the lady fingers soaked in a coffee liqueur type taste. On our recent exploration of Sheung Wan (上環) , we came across a place where Wifey was keen to try out their organic salads - @dandysorganiccafe 🤗.Located on Upper Lascar Row - it’s in an area that super popular for anyone looking for great coffees and food! The menu was unique, in that it’s all organic produce and they can make dishes gluten free and/or vegan if your dietary needs are such 👍🏻.In terms of food - we got the Gado Gado Salad and Tofu Cakes & Eggplant Green Salad. We walked past this noodle shop & saw their crab noodles and knew we had to try! 😇.It was a mixing/dipping style of noodle with their signature noodles and a big bowl of crab roe & crab meat sauce with quite a few prawns in it as well. The sauce was definitely the star ⭐️ it was super rich and very, very intense crab flavoured. As you dip the noodles in, each strand is covered with a thick oily, crabby coating and it tastes AMAZING 🤤.I was a bit full still from all the eating we had been doing recently, so I got a very appetising Spicy & Sour soup noodle. Loved the broth - it was sour but not too squint-your-eyes-level sourness. Continuing the yumcha theme, we walked past @lungdimsum and saw the food on people’s table and instantly knew we had to pop in to give this a try! 😇.This one was the Wanchai branch and although it’s a small store - it was packed with people and the food looked fantastic! We weren’t super hungry but still wanted to try s few things so we got their “Fried Dimsum experience” and a Crab Roe & Spinach steamed dumplings 🥟 .It tasted as good as it looked - neatly presented, piping hot & tasted great! This is what dimsums should be like. Had a great catch-up with a dear friend at @thepantryhk the other day 👋🏻.We met up at this nice café serving pasta, salads, and all-day-brunch-type food options. We ended up ordering a nice Parma Ham & Melon Salad that came with a mushroom soup and a Spicy Sunshine Burger with chips 👌🏻.The salad was great - pretty straightforward, good-quality parma ham that had a balancing sweet melon to its saltiness. Bolo bun, aka Pineapple bun (菠蘿包） is referred to that way because it derives its name from the phonetic naming Bolo (菠蘿: probounced “bor lor”) or the literal translation (菠蘿 = pineapple) & bun (包). Wifey found us this Bolo bun place that dishes out some epic looking Bolo bun creations - @bolobolohk 🤗.Tucked away in a lane just off the main strip of LKF in Central, this place creates some towering Bolo bun stacks with your choice of various protein fillings and sauces. For us, we opted to try their Crumbed Fish Fillet with Satay sauce 👌🏻.After a short wait, they brought out our stacked Bolo bun. The top was crunchy (and stayed crunchy throughout the entire time). The fish fillet was piping hot, freshly fried and went well with the satay sauce that was oozing out. It all comes together sooo well 🤤🤤.Don’t be afraid to squish it all down a bit so that you can take that first bite! Walked past @moropainhk again and saw a poster for HK exclusive Sakura egg tart & had to try 🤗.Available March - April only, this was much better than the butterfly cookie I tried a last time. (The butterfly cookie was way too hard and over-baked?) It’s a well known institution & we missed out last year cos we rocked up too late in the day, so this year when we returned to HK it was back on our wish list to try - 📍 Cheung Hing Coffee Shop (祥興咖啡室) 🤗.It’s an old school HK style cafe that still serves up simple staples that are just done well. Their Pineapple Bun (菠蘿包) is a must try - super fluffy and that crunchy, sweet top on the bun is the soul of this amazing bun. Their egg tarts were fresh out of the oven, so it was super hot & flakey and one of the best I’ve had this trip (so much so, I had to grab another one to eat before leaving!) 🤭😍.The Satay beef noodles were okay, if you’re not super hungry - you could give this a miss and save room for the pineapple bun and egg tart instead. We also added a HK style Swiss Chicken Maryland (瑞士汁雞髀) - the meat was just falling off the bone and it tasted soooooo good too 🤤.To wash it all down, you can’t not get a Signature HK Milk Tea! We were looking for a smallish afternoon tea snack and came across this Thai place that had some really good value tea-sets , so we gave it a try 🤗.The restaurant is located inside Shatin’s New Town Plaza just above Yata Supermarket. Wifey & I were in the mood to explore for something different, so we ventured out to Tai Hang to see what local places we could find to try. We settled on @hkdough when we walked past and saw “Hand made pasta” - that got us hooked 👌🏻.It’s a cozy environment with a small amount of seating & an open kitchen. We opted for a Parma Ham & Fig salad, Tiger Prawn & Sakura Shrimp Tagliatelle, Iced Lemon Tea & Peroni (can’t not have an Italian beer in an Italian restaurant right 😜).The pasta was delicious, very flavoursome with those prawns & the tagliatelle was bouncy without being too firm. We gave this place a try because we managed to snag a great “BOGOF” promotion for dinner off the “K字” platform 🙌🏻.For the price point (because of the promotion) it was pretty decent value and they had what you’d expect of a HK buffet at this calibre. On the cold food side they had a selection of Alaskan Crabs, mussels, sea counch, abalone, salads and cheeses, plus a whole leg of parma ham. There was also a small selection of sashmi and sushi, plus a cold soba noodle station 🍣.For hot food they had Soft shell crabs, Braised fish maw with goose feet, Peking Duck, Grilled Pineapple, Beef Wellington, Roast Pork/beef/lamb, Bbq pork ribs and more (too much to list)! 😅.There was also a make your own noodles station, with your choice of either Laska or Clear Chicken Broth as the soup base 👌🏻 The desserts were fairly average - random assortment of cakes, fruits and Haagen Daz ice cream 🍨 .All in all I would say that the food was good for this price. Went out for brunch at this cozy “upstairs cafe” in Causeway Bay . Wifey picked this place cos the views from the cafe looked really pretty - when we arrived, we weren’t disappointed! 🤩.The sweeping views of the harbour and the bustling motion of the traffic going in & out of the cross-harbour tunnel make for a nice setting to this cafe 👌🏻.Our food - Seafood Spaghetti in Lobster sauce /w Crab Miso Shell & a Spicy Scallop Frill Salad. It’s the only buffet in 🇭🇰 to boast a full 360 degree rotating view of HK, its harbour & the surrounding mountains 😍.Food-wise, we went for lunch which is a cheaper alternative to their dinner buffet - so expect a few less items but what they still have on offer is nothing short of amazing. Seafood, cold cuts, salads, hot foods, roast meats, make-your-own noodle soup, a tonnes of desserts and the list goes on & on 🤤.We loved the window seats that were arranged and the staff are super attentive to ensure we enjoyed the full dining experience.
