Pomegranate Kitchen
2024-01-12
Was recommended by a friend to try this new private kitchen at wong chuk hang and it did not disappoint! 😎Mushroom Cream Soup: 🥣 The consistency was smooth, creating a mouthfeel that was both comforting and satisfying. The natural flavors of the mushrooms shone through without compromising its creamy texture. ☺️Avocado Salad: 🥗 The avocado salad was a refreshing dish that really stimulated my appetite. The combination of flavors was outstanding, as the acidity of the dressing balanced the richness of the avocado. It definitely made my stomach ready for my main dish. 😋Stewed Beef Cheeks: 🤤The stewed beef cheeks definitely had both tenderness and flavor. The meat was braised to perfection, resulting melt-in-your-mouth beef that practically fell apart. The rich and savory sauce was both comforting and satisfying. The dish was accompanied by a generous portion of creamy mashed potatoes which balanced the saltiness of the sauce, making it a delightful and fulfilling meal. 🤩🤩Tandoori Chicken Rice: 🐔🍚 The tandoori chicken rice was a flavorful and aromatic dish. The chicken was tender with a subtle smoky tandoori flavor. The rice was cooked to perfection as it had absorbed the essence of the spices, making it the perfect balance to the chicken. Citrus drizzle almond cake: 🍰 The citrus drizzle almond cake was a harmonious combination of sweetness and tanginess. It was a moist almond-based cake that had a subtle nutty flavor. It had a slightly sticky texture and was a little sweeter than I expected, but that is when the coffee comes in to mellow down the sweetnessOverall a great experience and would love to come again with bigger groups of friends for a private kitchen experience. 🥳🥳…Read More

Mini teppanyaki grill
Sticks & Fire
2023-03-09
We tried this mini teppanyaki grill restaurant located near fortress hill mtr for dinner and we ordered their sizzling wagyu beef burger steak with cheese plus fries and the recommended pork knuckle with fries. Their beef burger steak is like the Japanese western fusion kind with 1 patty covered with cheese and the other without. Personally I think I liked the one without cheese because the taste of the cheese while great, covered the taste of their juicy meat patty. I think the combination of one with cheese and one without was a great idea as it would help to suit the tastes of those who love cheese and those who prefer the taste of the ingredients like me 😂 ! The pork knuckle’s skin was so crispy and the sound of cutting through the crispy skin was just ASMR. The meat was so tender that it just fell off the bone and when added to their sauce it was just perfect! If only they had a larger plate I would’ve made less of a mess for sure haha. To complete our meal we had a pint of Asahi beer which really just hits the spot for a perfect dinner.…Read More

Convenient Michelin Guide Restaurant
Tulsi Indian Restaurant (Tsat Tsz Mui Road)
2022-11-16
Conveniently located just a few minutes away from the mtr station, we tried this restaurant that was Michelin guide recommended. For mains we shared a garlic naan which is my personal favourite and I tried kashmiri naan for the first time! This naan is a stuffed with coconut, nuts and mixed fruits giving an overall sweet tone. I quite liked it that I’d even think it’s a dessert on its own! 😋 for the curries we had the classic butter chicken which I was pleasantly surprised by how the chicken was piping hot, making it even more delicious than usual 🤤 We also tried prawn korma which is a cream based sauce with nuts and paalak paneer. Out of the 3 I liked prawn korma the most as although it had the mildest taste in comparison to the other 2, I liked the gentle sweet flavours and smoother texture of the sauce. For drinks we had mango lassi and masala tea, its masala tea really packs a punch and so recommend for those who really likes the spiced teas 😆…Read More

Sun Thai Restaurant (Hing Wong Court)
2022-09-15
A usual Thai restaurant favourite among my friends and I for its great lunch sets, spacious setting and friendly service. Today my friend and I tried having their dinner alacarte for a change and finally decided to try their baked bread stuffed with curry paste and soft shell crab which we have been eyeing for awhile. The portion was a lot bigger than we expected and outside the curry bread bowl were chunks of well toasted, crispy bread which was perfect for dipping right into the mildly sweet and ,very fortunately for us, not spicy curry! The curry was milky yet fragrant and we enjoyed a sort of accented sweetness. 😋😋We also had their Vietnamese style fried glass noodle with crab meat which was something new from my usual pad sew ew orders haha! There were generous amounts of shredded crab meats and I liked the combinations with bell peppers and sausages. We also had a plate of mixed vegetables, minced duck salad and 2 drinks before we had our dessert which was mango sticky rice. The rice was warm underneath the coconut cream and it was a great way to end our filling meal ☺️ …Read More

Healthy Set 😂
Wow Lab
2022-09-03
Just a few minutes walk from sai ying pun station and the restaurant has its entrance at the side. It has a sort of industrial yet hip hop street style decor and it has both an indoor and sheltered outdoor seating. It’s prices is pretty affordable for the area ranging about 60-80 Hkd for its filling sets. Although it’s famous for its chicken, I decided to be healthy and ordered their “healthy chicken set” which is actually a salad set and you choose a side of either fried chicken/ roast chicken/ portobello mushroom. I had a pretty heavy meal the night before so I decided to go light and ordered it with the portobello mushroom and an Apple jasmine tea. The salad is fresh and crunchy with a sweet salad sauce, overall it’s taste is something similar to coleslaw but a lighter and healthier version ahhaha. The Apple jasmine tea is on the sour side which is pretty refreshing for such hot summers 😂…Read More

Skewers and the view
ENSŌ
2022-09-03
For a chill night out, we tried this yakitori bar located near the pier at Kennedy town. We sat at their bar seats and had a close up view of our food being grilled right before our eyes which only made us even more impatient to eat 🤣 We ordered different types of skewers, their grilled miso rice ball and cold udon. Between the both of us, we agreed that our top pick was the Angus beef skewer. Each bite was filled with rich beef juices and it’s just so tender! The best way to enjoy it is to not add any additional salt or sauces as one bite is all we needed to fall in love 😍 After the Angus beef, I liked the chicken thigh best as it had the right amount of flavour, not too mild yet not too strong but my friend liked the minced chicken skewer for its relatively crunchy texture and thick sauce. We had such good service and food, will definitely come again!…Read More

Healthy but delicious options
Green Waffle Diner (擺花街)
2022-08-09
Didn't know that green waffle had a branch in central till recently and I am such a sucker for their skillets! This time we ordered their New Zealand grass fed Steak and Egg Hash skillet. Absolutely love how cheesy they are with their mix of potato and mushroom, topping off with the egg on the top. It's always so fun to pop into that yolk and let it run all over 🤪 We also ordered Breakfast Quesadillas for dinner because why not 😬It was a great balance to our heavy skillet with its thick fluffy eggs and topping generous amounts of sour cream. It was my first time ordering their smoothie bowl and we had Butterfly Pea. Honestly halfway through the bowl I was already so stuffed but its fresh fruits and chilling smoothie mix was a nice way to finish our meal in a "healthy" way hahah! All ingredients are fresh and self-made so we could eat with a peace of mind. For those extra careful about their calorie count, they also have an all day low carb diet with pancakes made gluten free and they have ketogenic options as well. Of course, whenever in doubt of what to drink, coffee is always an answer. 😜…Read More

Trying new dishesatTaiHang!
Tandoori Junction Fine Indian Cuisine (Tung Lo Wan Road)
2022-03-20
This time I decided to be adventurous and try some new dishes which I’ve never had before 😆Chicken 65The chicken was quite fragrant with spices and had the tingle of spiciness at the end of each bite. Personally the sauce felt like a slightly sweeter version of sweet and sour pork, maybe due to the hint of yogurt at the background. 😂Nargisi Malai KoftaIt looks like 2 croquettes inside the sauce with mashed potatoes surrounding pieces of cottage cheese. I thought it was a savoury dish but surprisingly it was on the sweeter side. The sauce was quite thick and tasted milder and creamier compared to the crisp taste of spices from the usual Indian dishes I’ve had before. Onion Kulcha My new go to after garlic Naan! It’s so chewy with some curried onions inside. On its own it has a mild spiced flavour but with other curries or sauces it’s even better! 😋Overall I’m quite happy that I’ve decided to try some new dishes and would love to try more from the restaurant if I’m in the area 😄…Read More

Getaway
2022-03-11
A nice belated birthday lunch for my friend at this new chic restaurant. Located on the second floor it’s slightly hidden giving a nice private ambiance. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seatings which would be great to enjoy on a nice day! We had their set lunch which came with mushroom salad, a main and dessert of the day which was chocolate cheesecake with mango sauce. The mushroom salad was topped with crispy deep fried shallots and the cheesecake with mango sauce was a delicious sweet and slightly sour treat! For our mains we got the slow cook prime short rib and their lobster and tiger prawn linguine. The ribs were so tender, fatty and juicy that it just melts in the mouth! There’s some mushroom risotto at the bottom which wasn’t too creamy so it didn’t overwhelm the meat. The linguine was spicer than I expected so I had to take some time to finish it 😂 …Read More

A quick stone grilled steak
Gyuugoku Stone Grill Steak (Lok Sing Centre)
2022-03-03
A satisfying stone grilled steak lunch at affordable prices with different cuts and weight available. It comes with free flow of rice and soup and some seaweed toppings. The soup today was beef soup today which I enjoyed how this soup was light but full of beefy umami. I had their 180g top blade steak which came within minutes after ordering! One thing I like about these stone grills is that I can cook my meat to the rareness I like but a downside is that I need to be quick in removing the meat before it overcooks 😂 The thick cut was juicy and simply delicious! A great and quick way to get my proteins needed for the day 🤣 For those who don’t eat beef, they offer chicken and pork set lunches too which come with the same free flow of rice and soup. …Read More

Got a mango and shrimp rice paper rolls and a shredded duck and shredded chicken with noodles soup. The broth was a clear duck broth and the tofu puffs just soaked in all the flavours of the soup so well! The sad thing is just how the noodles clumped together after it got cold and was so difficult to eat. The rice rolls came with a spicy mango sauces which just emphasised its fruity taste!…Read More

Hearty Indian Food
Dilliwale
2022-01-19
I’ve heard good things about this restaurant from a friend so I finally went around trying it myself! We had their Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer lunch set and upgraded our drinks for a masala chai and mango lassi. The sets are definitely worth it as it comes with the curry, 4 pieces of naan, a bowl of rice and 2 spring rolls. It’s impossible to still be hungry afterwards 😂 The mango lassi was quite dense and was taste of the yoghurt was strong. On the other hand, the masala chai was milder which gave a pleasant aftertaste of chai. The curries were both aromatic and full of flavour and I like the texture of the Palak Paneer as it was smooth but with little bits of spinach left. We upgraded our set to get the desert Gulab Janum and I loved it! It was like eating condensed milk but in cake form 😋😋Overall very satisfied and next time I’d love to try their other dishes! …Read More

Ring of Wings
Wingman (閣麟街)
2022-01-09
This time at wingman with another friend to fulfil our cravings for chicken wings 😆 this time we tried Cali style, Ranch and once again Caribbean jerk cajun for my friend who was fascinated at how pineapples could possibly match chicken wings hahah! We got the Netflix & Chill platter with our small plate as cauliflower salad. I think that Ranch tasted milder than I had expected but that was made up by the Cali style which has plenty of cheese and garlic! After trying their Caribbean jerk, my friend was finally convinced why I told her pineapples and wings were actually a thing 😆 The cauliflower salad was abit unexpected as it came as thinly sliced cauliflowers instead of one big Cauliflower. The salad had a subtle sweetness to it which was accentuated by the roasted walnuts. 😋 …Read More

Accessible Singaporean Food
Katong Corner
2022-01-06
Accessible Singaporean food at Langham Court’s food court. With cheaper prices compared to other Singaporean restaurants, we had a feast for the same price. The portions are plenty and quite filling and we had chicken rice, char kway teow, pork satay, fish cake and morning glory. The food came extremely quick and the char kway teow included sausages which was a good twist that I was not expecting 😂 The chicken rice has a pretty big portion of chicken for an individual set and their satay sauce was on point! …Read More

Under Bridge Spicy Crab
2022-01-06
We had their signature under the bridge crab but non-spicy and their E-fu noodles with shrimps and cheese. Their under the bridge crab is served with sautéed Chinese leeks and fried garlic bits. The fresh taste of the meat paired well with the crispy and rich taste of the fried garlic bits. The E-fu cheese noodles was topped by plenty of prawns for its portion. The sauce was more creamy and less cheesy than I thought but it was still delicious! We had mixed beans sweet soup for dessert and usually I don’t like beans dessert but they made the beans soft yet not too lumpy which is just the texture I like. Next time I would definitely come here with more people so that we can order more dishes to try 😂…Read More
