Late Afternoon Delightful Lunch
TMK Rap & Rolls
2024-03-22
Not my first time here! And I always got a reason to come back. Staff were super nice and friendly while the food was uber flavorful and fresh! I'm sure to bring more friend back. This late late lunch at around 3:00 pm was made extra special with the warm service and of the staff who even mentioned their other two branches . …Read More

Alex and Sophie: Stellar Crew, Awesome Dining
Cruise Restaurant & Bar
2024-03-13
It's all about having a chill and seamless dining experience, especially when you're catching up your bestie over some gourmet grub. So I say, this spot in North Point is just rad. I call this our super Nova dinner. The crew, Sophie and Alex, were totally stellar, taking care of all our needs and making sure our glasses of white were always full. Well, it was good timing that we arrived before Happy Hour ended and were able to order a bottle of wine for half the price! Plus, Alex's full sleeve ink was a total showstopper! Now onto the food... The "Feed Me" menu was off the hook! It started with this epic combo of sashimi and scallop salad. The mains were tender and packed with flavor, form the grilled Iberico pork belly to the roasted free-range chicken to the braised sher wagyu beef cheek! The morning glory added a nice crunch while the jasmine rice was like a fluffy cloud. The roti could've been a bit more moist, but it's all good. The cacao and coconut dessert was the perfect level of sweet. All in all, it was a killer dining experience! This was not our first time at Hyatt Centric and this would definitely be not the last! …Read More

Social Club Leveled Up!
BARKADA
2023-03-18
Such an evening well-spent with the an awesome group of people here at Barkada Modern Filipino! One of the highlights of our meal had to be Jen, the owner, gracing our table with her lovely self! She’s just so nice and accommodating. It also made me feel so at home that the staff were very warm and pleasant all throughout. Our group had this thing called Social Club and Barkada was just the perfect venue for our Filipino food tasting activity. All dishes were very well presented and everything looked absolutely appetizing. I have this bias with Sizzling Sisig being my favorite so I declared it crowd fave. And while I egged everyone to have Red Horse Beer, I ordered Banana Cue Old Fashioned for myself as my poison of choice for the night. My lovely dinner mates said that the garlic fried rice and fried spring rolls remind them of Chinese food but I gotta say that they’re what my childhood in Manila is made of! Come to think of it, we’re all brothers / neighbors anyway. 😁 Next time I come back, I’m tagging my vegan and fur parents friends along! …Read More

Service with an attitude
Foodtrip Bedana's Filipino Restaurant
2021-05-17
Asking for extra plates got me some attitude from the middle-aged server who muttered a few Tagalog words while laying down three plates on our table. I was too embarrassed to speak of what I felt to my Canadian-Chinese boss and British-Chinese colleague who were with me during lunch so I just had to suck it up until the end of the meal. I hope the extra $20 bill I inserted in the tab was seen as a tip and not a random misplaced cash. And oh, there was dried rice in one of the spoons on the table 😆…Read More

phyllis6 I agree with you, the middle aged lady wearing glasses, have a very unpleasant attitude and absolutely doesn't understand customer service. Indeed, bad service. Caution: warm red horse beer costs hkd38/bottle, plus the effort of begging for ice.

Zwiener’s Winner
Wolfgang's Steakhouse Hong Kong
2019-03-27
Not to be mistaken with the celebrity chef of Hollywood because of its namesake, this restaurant discreetly anchors its classic cuisines in the heart of bustling Hong Kong. I was welcomed by an accommodating maitre d’ and immediately served with a tall glass of tap and a basket of warm bread. The caesar’s salad came in on a simple plate with shavings of cheese and four delightful pieces of croutons. Happy that the waiter who served my steak spoke my language and informed me that the doneness was medium, I kindly whispered that it wasn’t what I requested because I am a medium-well kind of guy. The caucasian server gladly sent it back to the kitchen to be replaced with my preference. A few minutes of coyly glancing at what the other diners were eating, I got my main entree. The meat with charred edges and pale pink center was sumptuous. I was extra happy that I didn’t spit out any of its juicy bites. Last on my lunch was the dessert which came in a few minutes after my main course— a cup of creme brulée that I didn’t order! I had another plate sent back to the kitchen yet again to be replaced with what I was craving for. The tiramisu came in with a garnish of generous helping of whipped cream and fresh strawberry. Light and airy with a mild taste, my meal was capped. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse is western restaurant in Central HK with a really oriental flavor to it. Not because of the food taste or quality but with the voices of the chatty diners in the neighboring tables. I’d prefer fine dining at a more quiet place however I may consider coming back only for Wolfgang Zwiener’s steak.…Read More

Reserva Ibérica Tapas Bar & Café (Ocean Terminal)
2019-03-21
Courses were served at perfect pacing and the courteous staff were excellent in providing the best quality service. The Spanish tortilla that I had was such a delight with its mix of pillowy goodness and light and tangy taste. Two wedges arranged artistically with some garnish made up this plate of gastronomic opener. Next was the seafood risotto that was served in a cute paellera. The toasted parts of this dish gave it more texture while the mix of clams, mussels, squid, and shrimp made up the mouthwatering flavor. Capping off my lunch was the beautifully plated torrijas with a dollop of coffee ice cream and bits of honeycomb for crunch. I gotta mention that the pipe-in music and the fancy gold-plated utensils set up my mood to the clouds the entire time. I’d recommend this quaint café to anyone who is in search of a pick-me-upper or a place to hang out for its good eats and friendly servers.…Read More

Snoozed at the House
London House Gordon Ramsay
2019-01-27
Quite a hike from my stop on Nathan Road at Tsim Sha Tsui, I found myself on the second floor of yet another shopping mall in bustling Hong Kong getting a balcony table at Gordon Ramsey’s London House. Undecided about what my stomach craves for, the set meal was an easy choice to make. Requested a Ginger Ale to quench my thirst, I looked out the veranda half happy with the green foliage fronting the restaurant and Victoria Harbour night lights winking at me. The ungarnished glass cold with ice cubes seemed to be really unpretentious. I sipped through the black plastic straw eavesdropping from the tables around. Then came the trio of appetizers lined on a wooden block. Never a fan of Prosciutto, I savored it’s delicately cured saltiness and spit out the not chewable, definitely not swallow-worthy fat. The Tomato Bruschetta was perfect in its sweet-tangy flavor and mildly crunchy base. What made me wanting for more was the BBQ Chicken Wing embellished with spring onion and coriander. Before the last two bites of the starters, the main course was served— a thick rack of Slow Cooked Pork Ribs glistening with its reddish glaze contrasting the color of spring onions and coriander on top of it. The plate was served with a half-full cup of red cabbage and carrot slaw. The meat wasn’t at fall-off-the-bone expectation however it wasn’t dry either. The vegetable side seemed to be lacking some kick but still crisp to the tooth. I had to order a glass of water at this point since I wasn’t served or offered one. Just several bites from the meat I felt like asking for dessert. Not wanting to waste the meal and not knowing what to do with it, I requested the server to wrap it up for me and be given my dessert. A dollop of Chocolate Orange Mousse with Caramel Popcorn sprinkle was dished out. Creamy, chocolatey, and not too sweet, I scraped the plate to the very last taste of it. Doubtful if I was satisfied with my dinner I headed to my apartment’s shuttle service pick up point to take me back home carrying a takeaway bag of my main course. …Read More

Molto Bene, Jamie Oliver
Jamie's Italian
2019-01-15
A discreet nook in the bustling Tsim Sha Tsui area is Jamie’s Italian. It was the perfect venue to spill out no holds barred deets of my recent interlude because our table was tucked away from the prying eyes and ears of the public in a dim inner sort of chamber. The location was still within the perimeters of the fancy Ocean Terminal Mall though. Over a Grilled Tomahawk Steak with Italian Salsa that was cooked medium well we went on with our dinner story. The flavorful meat that was moist and tender was like a metaphor to what our evening’s topic was about. Although labelled on the menu as “perfect for sharing” the steak was not able to satiate our hunger for food that night. Similarly our stories went on. With a follow up of The Porkie Pepperoni Pizza, our exclusive dining experience continued. The dish was served with a garnish of whole chili on top and meaty toppings much like the conversation topic that we had. Two hungry people capped the night with a friendly farewell from the servers of the restaurant.…Read More

Shookt at the Shack
SHAKE SHACK (國際金融中心商場)
2019-01-05
One of their only two branches in Southeast Asia, Shake Shack at IFC Mall in Central, Hong Kong has both locals and tourists lining up for their burgers, hotdogs, and “hand-spun” shakes. Busy at any given day, their indoor and al fresco dining spaces give patrons an excellent vantage point of Victoria Harbour while chugging down a nice cup of smooth and creamy Milk Tea Shake exclusively available in HK. That’s what I had during my visit with two of my touring friends! Casual diners can enjoy the cheesy fries dipped in small cups of ketchup or mustard. I prefer blending the two together as how my friend (Jane Bracher thank you for this recipe) would do it for that tangy-sweet-sour tickle to the taste buds. The burger patty can be requested to be medium rare or well done. I had mine fully cooked of course. The tomato and lettuce add freshness and crisp to the somewhat soggy bun that the burger joint has. The tasty patty ultimately wins a score nevertheless. Would I come back? Perhaps yes for the view and eye candies that may join the party. …Read More

Topnotch Gordon Ramsay Signature
maze Grill
2018-12-28
Rowena was simply amazing in helping me and my family reserve a table at maze GRILL for dinner on boxing day. Before 6:00 pm, we were seated for some drinks at their terrace overlooking the breathtaking Victoria Harbour. Gordon Ramsay’s regular menu was available on that holiday and we were all ecstatic in sampling individual plates for dinner. The focaccia bread paired with bone marrow butter was delightfully served as soon as we were seated at probably the best table at the restaurant located at the corner with the stunning backdrop of Hong Kong skyline. I ordered the Dry Aged Pork Chop that tasted divine! It was char-grilled to perfection. Every slice is a bite of tender-juicy goodness. The dish was served with a side of slaw and a dollop of mashed potato. Since it was a family affair, we were able to have a bite of the other food on our elegant table. The Hot Smoked Miso Salmon that my mom and my grandma had was flaky and well-seasoned. Its pale pink color tells you that it’s fresh and really inviting. The Slow Cooked Pork Rib that my brother had was tasty having that almost-melt-in-your-mouth succulence. My brother’s girlfriend and my aunt had the Whole Black Pepper Baby Chicken paired with panzanella salad. I skipped having a taste of their meal though I tried the refreshing salad that came with it. We also shared a small portion of their Seasonal Greens that was served in a small cup. Throughout our dinner, we kept raving about the excellent quality of the food we were having and the amazing view of HK that came with it. Completely different from Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Hotel in Las Vegas that I tried with my mom, maze GRILL has the same top quality dining experience and is a truly superb addition to the glitzy gastronomy of this side of the world!…Read More

Hidden Gem of TST
Aqua Spirit
2018-11-03
Perfect venue for an evening cap, this bar has a breathtaking view of both Victoria Harbour and Kowloon on either sides! Best to visit this place at sundown to get mesmerized with Hong Kong sparkly lights. The place is conservatively lit to set the mood. They offer a wide list of wines for tipsy-fun night. Somersby apple cider is recommended for drinkers of a different kind and for those non-alcoholics, ginger beer would surely get the game going.…Read More

Smart Rice Noodles
2018-10-31
I barely speak any Cantonese and this really nice lady with a British accent helped me choose my treat. I had rice noodles in mildly-spicy-fruity-sour-soup. There’s a wide array of toppings to choose from aside from the variety of broth so it was really quite an exciting meal. I had pork balls and intestines that went with my bowl. My dinner was mouthwateringly superb! It’s great to come here with friends so you could share other dishes from their tasty menu. Their drinks come in cute, worthy mugs as well. I highly recommend this place for a quick fix to any Szechuan craving! …Read More
