Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting the newly opened Peking cuisine restaurant @SunMoonPlace.hk ,which beautifully revives the beloved flavors of classic dishes and the lively dining culture of 1980s Hong Kong.We started our meal with the Preserved Smoked Chicken , featuring tender meat infused with a rich, smoky flavor. Each bite was perfectly seasoned, and the subtle notes of spice complemented the chicken's natural taste. Meanwhile, the Sliced Pig’s Knuckle in Peking Style was another highlight, the gelatinous texture mingled with a savory, slightly sweet sauce, creating an irresistible combination. Lastly, the tender Marinated Abalone with Lees offered a touch of luxury, showcasing the delicate seafood paired with a fragrant marinade.The Hot and Sour Soup arrived next, steaming and aromatic. This classic dish was a perfect blend of heat and tang, with a complexity that kept each spoonful exciting.For the mains, the Barbecued Peking Duck was undoubtedly the star of the evening. The skin was crisp and lacquered to perfection, while the meat beneath was succulent and flavorful. Wrapped in thin pancakes with hoisin sauce and fresh vegetables, each bite was a delightful harmony of textures and tastes. The Grilled Hills Herring provided a lighter contrast, offering a smoky, grilled flavor that paired beautifully with a hint of citrus. The Mixed Vegetable Chop Suey with Egg in Peking Style was a colorful medley of fresh vegetables, stir-fried to retain their crunch and vibrancy, while the egg added a creamy richness. Finally, the Sautéed Pig’s Trachea was an one of my adventurous choice, showcasing the chef's creativity. Its unique texture and savory seasoning encapsulated the essence of northern Chinese dining. The Caramelized Apple were perfectly cooked, as their natural sweetness intensified by the caramelization process. Our couple’s date night dinner at retro-futuristic dining room Auntie Ayi in Pacific Place HK was a delightful journey through culinary history, celebrating the essence of home-cooked Chinese meals by “ma jie”(媽姐) passed down through generations. Each dish told a story, seamlessly blending tradition with modern innovation.We began our feast with Prawn Toast with Caviar and Perilla Leaf, a crispy prawn toast, elevated by the luxurious touch of caviar and the fragrant perilla leaf. This dish was a perfect balance of umami and freshness, leaving us eager for more.Next, we savored the comforting warmth of Sister Song’s Shredded Fish Broth and Pork Lung and Pork Shank Meat with Almond Soup, both rich in flavor and nostalgia. The addition of the latter tender pork lung and shank meat in a creamy almond soup brought a delightful richness, making it a true homage to traditional craftsmanship.Our seafood experience continued with the Chilled Poached Fourfinger Threadfin delicately paired with Pu Ning bean sauce. This dish was a refreshing palate cleanser, showcasing the fish's natural sweetness.For a heartier option, we indulged in the Braised Whole Goose Casserole. The tender meat, infused with aromatic spices, was a showstopper, embodying the essence of communal dining and shared memories.To round off our savory dishes, we chose the Shaanxi Oil Spill Noodles topped with succulent Iberico Pork Char Siu. Recently, we visited 鮨 央泰 Sushi Hisayoshi went on a heavenly culinary journey with our tastebuds.Each dish was artfully curated to ensure its tenderness and tastefulness. The fresh ingredients also heightened our gustatory experience. The signature dishes of this omakase include its tako sashimi, which was so tender that the meat flowed through our mouth. Meanwhile, the taro that melted on our tongue. The seared ebi(prawn) sushi 🍣 was also a sweet delight. One cannot miss the tamago(egg), it is specially made like sponge cake. We paid the newly open Sukiyaki Isekuma a visit to try out sukiyaki . For those of you who haven’t tried it before, sukiyaki is also Japanese cuisine which beef 🥩 and vegetables are prepared in the nabemono (one-pot) style over a heat source.It was so fun watching Head Chef 👨‍🍳 prepare the food in an iron pot. The slices of finest, well-marbled Japanese beef 🥩 simmer and turned browned in the pot while amazing aroma just drifted to us sitting across from it at the bar table. We watched how every dish was prepared in such detail and care right in front of us. Then, the slices of beef are dipped into beaten raw egg before being eaten helps to bring out their freshness. Another scrumptious evening at Jiangsu Club江蘇銘悅 my go to place for authentic Jiangsu Cuisine in Hong Kong.This time we had a large party dinner 🍽 so we got to try out more dishes than our last visit! We were definitely in for a treat during our visit to contemporary steakhouse 🥩Carver_hk at Crowne Plaza HK CWB for our date night dinner. We tried out their 20-day House Dry-aged U.S. Striploin with Coffee Grounds, which was the best of both worlds when it comes to texture and flavour. It was super tender yet still beefy and juicy!..We also thoroughly enjoyed their appetizer with the Warm Mushroom Salad and Beef Steak Tartare, Avruga Caviar . It was refreshing to try out their mushroom salad, while the beef steak tartare was super delightful to consume as well...Besides the striplion, we also had Patagonian Toothfish as our Main and paired it was side dishes hand cut chips, and onion and pancetta Mac and cheese. We also love the Mac and Cheese as the ratio of moist and creamy of the dish was just perfect. ..Last but not least, the Chocolat was definitely a dream come true for me. My favorite has to be the creamy Hokkaido Uni Pappardelle 🍝 . I have never thought that flat pasta would go along so well with uni! Meanwhile, Kelvin loved the sirloin as it was very tender and juicy. We were also surprised by the Uni, Ikura and Tuna cake 🎂!
