Trying Taiwanese beef noodles at an industrial building in Kwun Tong and it's interesting that they have apple soup base which is sweeter than normal. And I like their clay pot rice that actually has a crispy bottom. We also tried some entrees like dried squid and pork belly slices#taiwanesefood #taiwanese #beefnoodles #noodles #rice #tofu #teaI like the concept of using apple for the soup base and very generous in size. First time seeing claypot rice in a tw restaurant but it's surprisingly delicious! 🤤 Look at that cracking burnt bottom! Fried tofu is crunchy on the outside and soft on the insideFried ball ball is bouncy and not too oilyRefreshing soda drink…Read More

Casamigos
2024-09-25
而我就order咗個cocktail Casa Yuza Paloma ($158),用casamigos tequila base, mixed with grapefruit, honey yuzu and soda, 好正! …Read More

NON KITCHEN
2024-09-21

Fantastic Spot for Gathering
Casamigos
2024-05-28
It's been a while since I had a quality family day so I habe decided to go to casamigos in cwb for a tapas lunch, thanks to all the good reviews and amazing photos on openrice. Having been to Barcelona before, I really miss all those fresh produce in Spain. And I can stil remember all the fresh seafood and olive oil taste from farm. And Casamigos brought back my lovely memories. The restaurant is located on 5/f in L'Hart. The ambient is cozy with a classy vibe. It has both indoor and outdoor sitting area and the venue was equipped with a full bar. We tried a couple of their signature entrées, main dishes, along with a fine selection of cocktails. Octopus baby with gem lettuce $138You can choose between anchovies and octopus, I opted for octopus because my companions are not a big fan of anchovies. The octopus was thinly sliced, super tender with a clean fresh taste, which complemented really well with sundries 🍅 and crunchy refreshing lettuce. Seared Hokkaido scallop $148The giant scallops were cooked to perfection with just bearly cooked centre. That's exactly how I like my scallops when they are in sashimi form. The bed of mashed potato was extremely creamy and buttery. Very indulging and addicting. Seared octopus tentacles $198Since it's a Spanish restaurant, the seared octopus is smokiness forward. The prominent paprika flavour was not too overwhelming yet elevated the beautiful of the tenacle w some aioli. Suckling pig 1/4 $398The 🌟 of the meal. The sucking pig was to dieeee for! The skin was perfectly crunchy and all the fat rendered out. The meat urself was extremely succulent and juicy. The reduced jus served on the side promoted an even intense umami to this beautiful creature. Yummmmmm 🤤 Seared NZ halibut $238Yes to more buttery mash 🥔! But also don't underestimate the flaky fatty halibut that was literally peeling off layer by layer with an effortless fork. I could see a lot of pescatarian (or not) falling in love with this dish. Tagliatelle cordeceps military wild mushroom $188In Chinese banquet. We would have fried rice /noodles at the end as a filler in case your are still hangry. In our case, we were already very satisfied at this stage but it was too irresistible not to. The handmade pasta 🍝 was tossed with some butter wild mushrooms and herbstious shrooms. It's a fusion dish and they still executed it nicely. The taste again was flavourful without being too heavy on seasoning, or cream. I genuinely enjoyed it with guilt-free. DrinksSt Sarah 🥃 - monkey shoulder, elderflower, maple and peach flavour with egg white Tiramisu 🍫 🍸 - brandy, chocolate, with egg yolkDamn lemon-draught 🍋 🍻- very fruity forward beer that took us by surprise. A true black sheep on the drink menu. OverallI really like how they don't overkill by if their dishes. Every dish shows the characteristic of each element saning in harmony. I also really like their drinks menu especially their innovative cocktail list. On top of wide range of wine and some draughts and tinnie 🍻 options. I can see this venue as a great gathering small for bigger group and a dating spot for longer crowd. And yes! I can't wait to come back! 🤤…Read More

Jap food without breaking a bank
HOKKAIDO IZAKAYA
2018-02-26
Yes it's been too long.... honestly I have been recommended so I thought I would give it a go. This Jap restaurant is in one of the malls in Shatin where I used to live for a couple of years. Firstly we got a serving of sashimi trio for $88. Everything was fresh and really thick cut and I particularly like the salmon slices. I think it's great for the value so I would highly recommend you to order it. I have also ordered Matcha beer $58 because I want to know if it's the same as the matcha cider I had a while ago. Yes, they also just mix in the matcha powder into the beer. I think I would still prefer it without but you should try it if you are a matcha fan. Then we had 3 different kinds of sushi from top to bottom. The sushi is kneaded firmly and the acidity of the rice is spot on. Top: Uni $38 - sweet and bittersweet, just how I like it and it's only for $38, what a good deal? Middle: Striped Jack $20 - a lighter piece of fish so I did actually have it first Bottom: Otoro $58  - It's super fatty and the oil just gushed out from as soon as it was in my mouth although there are some thin tendon bits in it which requires some chews Then we had 2 skewers and they are pork belly $29 and ox tongue $32. They are both seasoned generously with lots of pepper and salt. In terms of tenderness and doneness, I prefer the ox tongue because it's just a lot more tenderer compared to the dry grilled pork. Tokashi potato with bacon, asparagus and tomato $48It's a very humble dish with simple ingredients but the potato is surprisingly sweet with a thin skin that would actually give a light snap when you bite into it. I am not a big fan of potato or too much carbs but these potatoes are delicious and worth ordering! Lastly, soba is actually one of their signatures so how can we come here without ordering it? We ordered the hot wagyu soba $88. You can see that the thinly sliced beef pieces were just barely cooked in a sexy pink colour. The noodles was standard and the soup is a bit like the sukiyaki style which is a bit on the sweet side. This place is a good option for Japanese food out of New Town Plaza and you don't have to pay a premium for probably the same quality of food. They definitely need some words of mouth because I wouldn't have thought that there is a Japanese restaurant hidden in a small mall in Shatin! If you are a 沙田友 you should definitely come here for Jap food but not in New Town Plaza where they usually charge everything $150+ for a main. …Read More

Need to Prove it Myself
Umai SushiKan
2017-04-10
There is no doubt that Hong Kong may be one of the most accessible place for Japanese cuisine (apart from Japan itself). The seafood quality is generally quite good, compared to many other asian countries. Having heard of this restaurant for quite some time, including some really good and not so good comments from Openrice. I am tempted to prove it myself by paying a visit. This Japanese restaurant uses only imported fresh seafood from Tsukiji, and you can see the fresh seafood stock from the sushi bar fridge including the freshest fish and shellfish on ice. A colour shiny display of some cut sashimi is also available for customer to enjoy the meal from all the senses. We have come here today mainly for their donburi but we are also too anticipated to try some sushi and some hand crafty dishes. The restaurant takes on the Japanese tradition to stock a good variety of alcoholic drinks including some sake and fresh craft beer. You won't be disappointed with their selection if you are a drinker. For me, it's a bit too early of a week to get drunk so I am going to leave the quota until the weekend. Prime fatty tuna (Nagazaki) $55First of all, we have found that the prime fatty tuna sushi for just $55 a piece so we ordered it without a hesitation. Usually one can cost up to a few hundreds sine it is one of the best cut of toro. When the piece was brought to us, I was expecting a bit more marble marks on the piece though it is indeed presented beautifully with a shiny gold flakes on top. The fish is still pretty fatty with a very shiny surface, showing how fresh it is. The head part is a bit fattier while the tail part looks leaner. All in all, once it's in your mouth, it all gets mixed up. The fat content of the fish is high enough that it just melts right away. The fish oil taste is not overwhelmingly heavy and it's just fatty enough to balance off with that light acidic from the sushi rice that has been kneaded firmly. Not a bad piece but it can be a lot fattier if it is called "Prime" however it has lived up for its price of just $55 for sure. Scrambled egg $58Next, we opted for something housemate. A basic piece of plain scrambled egg that has been rolled beautifully. The roll is perfectly yellowish and the serving is actually quite generous considering that it is only $58. But hey, it's egg so I think it's a very reasonable price because food shouldn't be overpriced anyway. Four big pieces of egg is served gently. Once you pick a piece up with your chopsticks, you can literally see steam coming out from the gaps between the pieces. The rolls have actually been prepared in a very high tempreture and is served at the right temp. too! The centre of the rolls is moist but can't be considered "juicy". The outer layer is slighter firmer probably from the high tempreture preparation. To be honest with you, this is not the best texture I have seen from a Japanese scrambled egg. However, it shows how crafty their food is. Elegant and rustic at the same time. To me, food doesn't have to be perfect, it is the feel of it, and of course, companion is one of the crucial elements too. I am liking these rolls so far and my donburi has already been served while we were enjoying our protein. Trio donburi $200Dang dang dang dang! Our main character has finally arrived the scene! A trio don which is a mix of 3 different fresh ingredients on top of a bed of warm delicious sweet and acidic sushi rice. The 3 ones are sea urchin, minced fatty tuna, and salmon roe. The sea urchin is shiny in colour and the portion is quite big for the rice. The slightly mustard yellowish colour is exactly what I have been craving for for days. The bittersweet aftertaste is something that you can never forget and you will always want more after one and other. It's a very rich piece so I liked to enjoy it with some of the delicious rice underneath. The minced fatty tuna on top looks stunning almost pink in colour. Due to the high fat content, I started to wonder if ti's from the same cut as my prime fatty tuna I had just now? It probably isn't. The fatty pile of tuna is sprinkled with some toasted sesame seeds and some spring onions, just to cut through that fattiness a little bit. It's the best to mix them all into the rice for the maximum enjoyment. Then, interesting salmon roe is one of my favourite things to eat since childhood. Just like any other childhood dream. I always like the popping sound and the juicy gushing out from the eggs when biting into it in my mouth. The fishy taste is rather amusing to me and I am in absolute heaven right now, please leave me alone. At the back, it's not just any plain white sushi rice, but it's topped with some shredded egg, seaweed and some more toasted sesame seed. It's nutty, sweet, savoury, all the same time, awakening the rice with a bit of a character.Lastly, the sushi rice itself is beautifully done in my point of view, it's at the perfect stickiness, perfect dryness, perfectly seasoned. With all that, the serving size is not small and don't forget that it is a heavy bowl of sushi donburi so make sure that you keep your appetite before coming here! To sum up, I must say that some items are on par while some are not as expected. I do like that crafty items a lot and the donburi is absolutely amazing despite that it is $200 a bowl, which I think is somewhat a standard price now in Hong Kong. Instead of paying the same at other restaurant, I think you can at least have a guaranteed quality of food here as the everything get imported directly from Japan. I would have no doubt coming back here again for their because I think they are just fresh and delicious. No complain with that for sure. I guess I may also need to try some of their other items to make the final decision, now there is an excuse for me to come back!…Read More

Affordable Sashimi Don at the heart of Central
2017-04-09
I have seen this restaurant Yataka opened recently and I have always wanted to try it out because it is one of the very few affordable rice don restaurant in Central. The restaurant is cozy with just a few tables at the dining area and the menu is also very simple with just a few sashimi don options priced from just $138, a very affordable price for Central eateries. For every don, it comes with a bowl of hot miso soup. Nothing's wrong with it as long as there is seaweed and a piece of clam. Yutaka mega rice bowl $168I have ordered something I would normally order which is a mix. The don is completed covered with different sashimi. The size is about a hand size. I have had bigger bowl but I have also seen smaller ones. The don is completed covered with different sashimi including uni, crab roe, tamago, lobster, salmon roe, tuna, hamachi, shrimp. They even emboss the name of the restaurant on the huge little piece of tamago. It's not as sweet as other tomago I have had before.  Every piece of fish looks fresh and shiny. Among them I do like their hamachi because it looks the freshest. I also liked their tuna which is shiny as well. For their salmon roe, I always like to wrap them with a crispy seaweed which is a nice contrast with the gushing juicy eggs. The least favourite of mine may have to go to the shrimp because it is smaller than I expected and I was expecting a stronger sweetness from it. The rice they use is nicely seasoned with some vinegar and I like that it is not too sticky nor moist to my liking. Any sashimi is a nice match with the rice from the don. There aren't too much rice so I think the portion is good for girls. I like to dip my sashimi into some wasabi soya, but you are more than welcome to mix everything up together but that's just not my preferred way to enjoy don. So, this place is everything I expected for the price. It's not easy to have a restaurant located at the heart of Central selling only Japanese sushi don. I wish this place all the best and hope that the rent wouldn't height too much in the future because that's definitely the main cause of the source and quality of the sashimi that the restaurant is importing. …Read More

HK J is an old town in my point of view but there are lots of hidden gems in those small estates. I particularly liked how the neighbourhood is surrounded by the lots of docks.Oyster J cakeOne of the most comforting food after a night out would be something sizzling hot and super oily. The oysters are juicy and just cooked, just how I liked it. A perfect way to go down with some beer or more! Deep fried prawn cakeSome more deep fried food just won't harm. The cakes are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Nothing really exciting but they are filling and full of prawn flavour. Bo J RiceThen we have ordered a bo J rice but in a healthier way. There are some diced chicken, mixed veggies, and some shredded pork strings in it. Since the topping is actually quite wet so the rice itself is not as crunchy as the traditional ones in Cantonese style. Stir fried water spinachLastly, you have to get some veggies in. Classic, savoury, and simply nutritious. I can never have enough of it. Once again, it's a nice family dinner at one of the neighbourhood Cantonese restaurants. The company is what it matters not really about the food. …Read More

Sichuan Food from Another Dimension
Deng G
2017-04-07
Over the years,  I have built up a much higher tolerance level of spicy food. From having zero endurance, to loving spicy food. Having heard Deng G for quite some time, I am more than exciting to try out their Sichuan food. Deng G is founded by Chef Deng who has more than 40 years of experience in Sichuan cuisine and he pledged to bring the most authentic North Chinese food to us in Hong Kong. This is why we can see this new restaurant in the middle of QRE in Wan Chai. The restaurant has two floors with a lower floor mainly for a classy but affordable Baijiu bar with some small bites, while the upper floor is a spacious bright opening dining area with some private rooms available too! After seated, we were then served with a couple of snacks including salted roast peanuts, spicy pickled carrots and cabbages, and these "Funky Cashews" that has a mix taste of sweet, savoury, sour, and spicy all the same time! p.s. the cashews are highly addictive so make sure you have some self control Deng's mule $120A Chinese style cocktail using non-traditional liquor like Baijiu. The Baijiu that was used in this cocktail was  wu liang jiong, which is a "Spiced" type of Chinese white wine, giving a kick to this drink. It only needs a few drops for that strong liquor to mix nicely with an oriental concoction of vodka infused in ginger, compressed lemon, ginger reduction & organic ginger soda. The liquor does make a big difference to the drink because it has a lot more fragrant when compared to any other liquor out there. Homemade Barley & Sour Plum drink $40If you are not into alcohol, the restaurant does have a few healthy drink options including these two light and refreshing drink. I liked how they are not too sweet, just how I like it. Sliced pork with garlic chilli $75There are a couple of appetisers I would order whenever I go to any Sichuan restaurants and this is one of them. Slightly different from those commercial ones at other places, Deng G 's flavour is not all about spicy but it's about the spices. The thinly sliced pork is complimented with some "cat's ear" which is actually just some chewy dough, absorbing all those flavourful chilli sauce. Ox tongue and tripes medley $75Another favourite appetiser goes to this 夫妻肺片with 3 different parts of a cow including ox tongue, beef stomach, and beef shin. Each of them has a completely different texture and they harmony does a pretty beautiful medley I would say. The flavours has been absorbed into each piece and the flavour just gush out once you bite into it. Once again it's not super spicy that would overkill the delicious beef taste, instead, the aroma of the spices and that hint of numbing effect is what it is all about. Wu La spicy mandarin fish $388Instead of ordering the traditional boiled fish in red chilli soup. We have chosen a peppery soup base which is not as spicy but it is another level of flavour in my point of view. Imagine having a big bowl of really scrumptious on point extremely peppery savoury soup that would shield you from winter, while quite a generous amount of mandarin fish slices are swimming in the soup, waiting for you to enjoy them. The fish is delicately sliced very thinly and they are still absolutely soft, in a good way. The flavour of the mandarin fish is light and somewhat grassy. Just like the traditional one, there are lots of been shoots and grass noodle along with the soup and you won't want to skip them as they have absorbed all the flavours from the soup. We tried not to leave a single drop of the soup lol Braised beef rib with mild red oil $398It's not too common to see this kind of braised beef rib dish in Sichuan restaurant. I must say that it is probably a fusion version between Chinese and Western cuisine. I don't mind it though because the rib was perfectly tender and you can almost see the shiny sort of silvery surface from each piece. The portion is very big for this price and we were not disappointed. If you wish to change up the flavour a little bit, you may want to dip it into the dried chilli flakes on the side to give an extra kick. Fermented glutinous rice in ice powder $30It's always nice to have someone to cleanse out palette after a long spicy meal full of strong spices. This little cup of dessert can be commonly found in many Sichuan restaurants in Hong Kong. The fermented taste from the glutinous rice is pretty unique so this dessert is going to leave a mark in your memory for sure. Dumplings in osmanthus soup $30The restaurant does pretty good sweet dishes and I was surprised by the good quality of this traditional Chinese dessert, glutinous rice ball dumpling in floral soup. Not too sweet and the filling of the balls are nice and runny. If you are a Sichuan food lover, I would definitely highly recommend you to come here to understand more about this cuisine. It's not just about being dead spicy or dead numb, the combination of the traditional Chinese herbs is the lady behind the curtain! Lastly, We also have to mention that the service was excellent as the staff is very attentive, friendly and most importantly, chatty!  …Read More

Family Farewell with The Freshest Seafood
Boat Dweller Steam Hot Pot Specialist
2017-04-03
I am glad that I picked this restaurant for a family farewell dinner because it is high quality yet still very local style. The freshness of each of their seafood is never disappointing. My family is happy with everything and enjoyed every bite of the dinner. When they are happy, I am happy. Besides, I am confident to say that this place is a game changer. Or I may say that this is the way it should be. First of all, the interior of this restaurant is basic, but yet clean and neat. The seats are spacious and chairs and comfortable. A great place for group gatherings I would say. There are steamed pot set up in the middle of each tables and only steamed pot is available on the menu, unlike some other places that normal hotpot / buffets are also available. Next to the entrance of the restaurant, there is a public area for you to create your own sauce. They have all the standard sauces that we were expecting. They even have vinegars! Wondering if that's for crabs? I guess you are just free to enjoy any kind of sauce available! This steamed hotpot restaurants specialises in fresh seafood ingredients. I mean, real fresh seafood and they even have a fresh tank to keep all of their living things. We have ordered different kind of seafood and they are mostly charged by piece of charge by its weight. Giant Prawn (花竹蝦)I haven't had this kind of prawn for a very long time. The prawns are expensive! They worth it though. I believe these 3 prawns cost $6xx ! OMG! The staff would prefer everything for you because they know how long it takes to look different kind of seafood. Once the time is up, the alarm would ring and you would know that your food is ready! Now, back to my prawn. They are super fresh though and there are lots of roes in the head. One giant piece of prawn is already very satisfying but we can't wait to enjoy more different kind of seafood. US Rock OysterI had already warmed my mum not to order it cux big oysters doesn't mean that they are good oysters. As I was expecting, the oysters do not have a strong sea water taste, it's also not too creamy nor smooth to my liking. I still prefer French oysters or any other oysters that have stronger flavour. Razor ClamsThe razor clams can be prepared in different ways and  I prefer to enjoy it the most original way like this with clear noodle and minced garlic. The giant razor clams are also very fresh and big in size. In just a few minutes, they are all ready to be eaten. The meat is super fresh and almost crunchy in texture. I must say that any seafood with clear noodles and garlic is a good match and I know you would agree with me. Not to mention that their clear noodles is also pretty good because it has absorbed all the sauces but its texture is not too soggy. In the middle of the meal, we have gained confidence in their food and have decided to order a crab congee soup base. Raw Japanese pearl rice and a whole chopped crab are then served for us and they are then put at the bottom of the pot. We were told that we can enjoy them after we finished all the seafood. So, moving on quickly, we are going to have scallop next. Once again, I ordered it with the classic clear noodles and minced garlic. I liked how the edges are crunchy and flavourful, while the meat in the middle itself is soft and a little bit chewy. The time is controlled just right as these delicates shellfish is not overcooked at all. Lastly, how can we come here without ordering a giant piece of Alaska crab? The whole grab is really big in size as expected. It has already been  cracked and all ready to go! After a slightly longer period of steaming time. We were told to have the legs and shell first, and then the clams. After the first bite, we were totally sold even though it is around $700 for the whole piece. It really brought us memories back in Hokkaido where we had our first Alaska crab for the first time as a family. After so many years, we are having it again! The whole crab has a overwhelmingly savoury sea water flavour and I felt like the sea water literally gushed out of the shell once you bite into it. The shell has already been cracked so it's more than easy for us to take the meat out. We didn't even have to use the crab cracker that has already been put on our table. We when tried the claws which are just as delicious as the legs. The meaty savoury meat almost tasted like ocean. I would personally prefer the taste of the meat rather than the shell as the roe from these crab is actually bittersweet, and some customers would prefer having it mixed into the congee at the bottom. Last but not least, they do have a good range of beer and even fresh coconut. Nothing much to explain but the coconut is delicious and young. I managed to scrape out all the coconut meat off from the shell! Once again, this is a surprisingly good restaurant. I have heard good words about it and I have decided to come here even though I am not a big fan of steamed hotpot at the beginning. Your guest and yourself would not leave disappointed. This is a great place to get impressed. …Read More

First Time Trying Vegetarian Korean Food
The Joomak
2017-04-03
It's kinda weird that I like JOOMAK so much, maybe it's because of its amazing sea view, or its innovative menu. It's been a while for us to come here and we are more than happy to see that they are refreshing their menu once again! This, time, they have added new items after the collaborations with Green Monday, I guess we just have to try it out as a die hard fan! Kale $58First of all, we have ordered a green drink which is a blend f kale, pineapple, water, mint, wolfberries, and Korean ginger. The drink is surprisingly light in grass taste and it has no added sugar in it and you can literally taste it. Korean Vegan Kimbap $98Their Kimbap uses vegan meat stuffed in between, with some other veggies, while some almond flakes are sprinkled on top. I couldn't tell there is vegan meat if you don't tell me. The plant base meat tasted largely like normal chicken meat and I have no complaint with that. It's not too spicy and the rice is still moist. I liked it a lot as it is not as savoury as normal kimbap. Korean style spicy and sweet vegan chicken $118Moving on, you can't go to a Korean restaurant without fried chicken. These are meatless chicken and they actually tasted like any soy product. It's not too crispy on the outside. You can clearly tell that these are not meat but it is still very dense. There is also a generous amount of Korean spicy sauce which should be the same as the normal chicken sauce. Once again, almond flakes and cucumbers are sprinkled on top. The inner part still looks like meat but the texture is nothing like it. Even though I says so, I found it still pretty good and satisfying. Soft tofu stew with seafood $158Then we have ordered something with meat because the restaurant does have a good menu. These spicy tofu soup is on point with a mix of seafood including mussels, shrimps, clams, a lot of mixed veggies, and a nicely poached egg on top! I liked to mix the runny yolk with the soup so if you are just like me, make sure you don't overcook it . Sizzling grilled Angus ribeye $228Though we had some nice vegetarian dishes, their meat dishes are not to be missed. I am confident to say that their steak is actually better than many other steak places. They are super tender and perfectly fatty. They are not seasoned so that a side of BBQ sauce and salt is provided on the side for you to dip in. Interestingly, a few pieces of mozzarella is provided as well and we were recommended to grill them before you consume it. We had so much fun when we tried to mix and match the cheese with different ingredients. Popcorn lychee shake drink $128Lastly, we ordered another drink to share. Their shake drinks are pretty interesting as the staffs would shake the drinks for you at your table. We have ordered the popcorn one as we were just curious. Surprisingly, it does have a strong popcorn taste but the lychee taste is very subtle. Overall, it's very good and we liked it very much. Once again, so happy for JOOMAK, a Korean restaurant with good view, is introducing a full on veggie menu with the partnership with Green Monday. I can't wait to tell my vegetarian fds about it and I hope they will like it!…Read More

Feel Like Home w Really Comfortable Ambient
Dreamix廚
2017-03-25
Not only because I live just about half an hour away from Kwun Tong, my family love to come to Kwun Tong for a meal because there are always free parking spaces on the street. We seldom get any parking fines, but only if you know where to park. Few days back, my friend told me there is a western restaurant called Dreamix and she had her best tea set ever at that place and I have found that they actually have another Chinese restaurant just one floor up! It's not quite common for my family to go to industrial buildings but I guess this is a nice experience and I am glad that they liked it. Despite the fact that the buildings are old and somewhat smelly from the corridors and lifts, the interior of this restaurant is exceptionally clean and comfortable. There are only 4 tables in the very spacious area and they are all in different sizes to cater for different groups of customers. I also liked how they hang the photos of their customers on the wall but I didn't find anyone I know there, haha. There are a few seasonal dinner menus available daily at different price range and we have chosen their latest spring dinner set for $488 per head. The menu is for 4 people minimum but one of our friends got sick so we had to enjoy the meal between just 3 of us. Before we start our meal, we were served with some Mahogany fruit water and they are actually refillable. It's pretty light and not too sweet, a lot lighter than the one my mum prepared but I am still liking it because it's very good for you. Drunken South African AbaloneThese abalone are a bit on the tough side but the housemade marinate tasted absolutely amazing because they used hua diao alcohol, and salted plum. The whole big abalone had absorbed the alcoholic taste and it has became a lot sweeter than normal. We were told that we can drink the alcohol on its own so we were given some small cups to drink! Yam ,Goji Berry, Sea Whelks, Chicken SoupNext, Cantonese cuisine is all about fresh ingredients and soup is not to be missed on the menu. The ingredients of the soup was first served for us. We didn't have too much because we know we have a big meal ahead of us. Some of the chicken meat was still quite tender but the flavours had gone into the soup. The soup is very clear and they have already skimmed out the oil. It's not salty at all and you can definitely taste the sweetness from the chicken as well as the goji berries. I must say, this is a very comforting home cooking meal that is even better than my mum's. (please don't tell her)It is a giant pot of soup and we finished every drop of it because it is that good! Minced Shrimp paste chickenIt's not just any normal steamed chicken, but it's actually minced shrimp taste at the bottom, with a piece of chicken skin on top, plus some flower pedals and more nice big fat goji berries. We were told that this dish takes literally 2 days to prepare because there is no squid paste but pure shrimp paste and they will need 2 days to get that soft but still fresh texture from the meat. This is my first time having this dish and it actually came from one of the most famous restaurants in Guangchow. Having a private kitchen is to be bold and recreate dishes that we can't find anywhere else. This dish is simply stunning and eye opening.Braised pork knuckleThe restaurant have been famous for their very fatty pork dishes. I have seen other tables ordering something like pork bun but we have chosen the even fattier braised pork knuckle this time. The whole piece has been steamed for 10 hours so the skin is not really that greasy and it is not just a mouthful of fat but some gelatine-y chewy bites. Besides,  it's not salty again because it is in home cooking style. So, we were then served with rice for us to go with the thick sauce in the pot. I must say that the meat is not the tenderest meat I have tasted but I somehow liked it because it has a texture to it, instead of just soft and almost falling apart. Lotus leaf riceThere are big steamed lotus leaf rice served in bamboo container. The rice is prepared with chicken, mushroom, and fresh fungus, and Chinese herbs. The rice is moist after being steamed and the lotus leaves is flavourful and enjoyable. I like the subtle sweetness from the red dates as well as the earthy taste from the black fungus. Vegetables with Chinese herbs in clear brothThe veggie dish is probably the least interesting dish on the menu. One thing I do like is that they never ever overcook their veggies, keeping them crunchy, green, and fresh. Deep fried eel with floral honeyComing next, this is my favourite dish so far. The eel is from Taiwan and we were told that they have been buying their eel from the exact same shop because of its stable good quality. The eels are very big as you can see from the big pieces. The technique to prepare these eels is not as easy as it seems. Chef needs to control the fire between high and low. And then only drizzle a bit of floral honey when frying them in the heated wok. The batter is very very thin and super crunchy. The sweetness is not too overwhelming but rather subtle. The balance is very good which makes it almost addictive. Tofu with crab sauce Lastly, we wonder why they put this dish on the menu as the last dish though as I was expecting tofu would come with veggies. Anyway, the tofu is very smooth and the sauce is thick with a savoury crab paste. We were very full at this stage and were already satisfied with all the other amazing dishes like the eel, pork knuckle, and minced shrimp, so we were a bit underwhelmed by this dish but that's okay. Afterward, we were given a pot of hot floral tea just to ease our digestion, as a Chinese tradition. Panna cottaIn no time, we were given dessert which is surprising because dessert is not included in the menu. We were told that they don't have dessert all the time because it really depends on how busy they are on that day. And it is only given n a limited supply. These panna cotta is different from the normal ones because they use low GI sugar from Cambodia. As expected, it it not as sweet with a very thick consistency. Let's sum it up, I think the condition and cleanliness is probably the best among all KT industrial restaurants. It's also one of the most comfortable places. Food wise, expect yourself trying some dishes that you have never seen before, and the taste is tender to be less salty / sweet, which I personally prefer. My mum liked this place so which and she said she is going to recommend her group of dancing friends to come here. Let's see how committed she is! …Read More
