Previously, I had once visited this branch, and I tried their Mixian with Fish Cakes .  The fish cakes and the broth were fine; however, much to my disappointment, the mixian was extremely broken up, without a chewy texture .  Still, I had an opportunity again to try Cafe 100% on this day , and so I decided to try the same dish again, after more than one and a half years !At the storefront, I immediately noticed that the store had been refurbished .  It now had a brighter and more eye-catching interior, as opposed to the previous storefront and interior that had a focus on darker materials and an 'industrial theme' ; the tables were also now pearly white, which not only gives an impression that the restaurant is cleaner, but also much more elegant .  Well done to the designers !Along with the updated interior, Cafe 100% also chose to introduce new cutlery as well, including a taller, more 'bowl-like' bowl for soup dishes, such as the Mixian with Fish Cakes that I ordered .  In my opinion, it was a good choice, as the new cutlery also has a 'grand' feel to it, and so complements the ambience  better .The dish was a great step further from the same dish I ordered before.  As usual, the fish cakes were both soft and chewy, infused with an umami taste that was rich but not to the level that it seemed artificial ; therefore, I could tell that Cafe 100% had procured fish cakes of high quality !  The broth was also up to standard, with a milky appearance and a slight fishy taste that accompanied the other ingredients, especially the mixian really well .  The mixian, which is arguably the essence of this dish, was much, much better than last time .  They were no longer broken up and mushy, but instead they were long strands that were chewy , but not to the level that it was difficult to swallow without excessive chewing .  The deep fried soybeans also supplemented the dish overall by giving more of a contrast towards the soft and easy-to-swallow texture of the rest of the dish; they were golden-brown and had a great crunch to them .  Even so, I did believe that there was slightly too less mixian in contrary to the volume of broth; thus, if there was more mixian, then this dish would have been perfect !It is also worth noting that the staff during my visit were very helpful and courteous -- they nearly immediately responded to my requests and gave efficient and helpful responses as well .In conclusion, this visit had transformed my previous image of Cafe 100% and its broader group of restaurants .  Not only was the Mixian with Fish Cakes dish of a much higher quality than before , but the storefront was also a greatly more comfortable environment to dine in , and the staff also fully fulfilled their duties as well .  Great experience !…Read More

To celebrate one of my family member's birthday, we went to M&C Duck at Park Central to eat dinner together !  As there weren't too many people celebrating on that day, we just ordered a few dishes , which of course included their signature dish featured in their name, Peking Duck !  Personally, I wasn't the biggest fan of Peking Duck, but it certainly was a must-try here !As someone was already very hungry when they arrived , we immediately ordered some Fried Dumplings for us to share !  The dumplings were quite crunchy on the bottom while soft and tender on the top .  The inside was stuffed full of fillings; no fakery here !  The pork tasted quite soft with taste whilst the cabbage gave it some crunchy texture; together, they were very good !  With the dumpling vinegar, this is what every Fried Dumpling should taste like !Soon after came the Stir-fried Scallops with Vegetables, which included celery, pepper and some mushrooms .  They were stir-fried together with an umami, garlic and ginger sauce which many Chinese dishes have as their sauce , and certainly elevates the dish !  The scallops tasted fresh and chewy , while the vegetable tasted quite crunchy and was full of sauce (delicious!!) !Next came the Peking Duck, the main dish !  The skin was very crispy and with the wrapper, sauce and some celery sticks , it tasted very fresh and even I, who isn't a massive fan of Peking Duck, couldn't stop eating it !  The dish was cleared very quickly by everyone after arriving on our table !Lastly came our stew, a fish stew with some ginger and shredded spinach (?) .  The texture was quite thick and easy to swallow , while the fish was very smooth and had that fresh-from-the-sea taste !  The spinach made it look better, seem healthier and also gave some texture  !  Similar to the Peking Duck, everyone went for refills for it !In conclusion, this was a wonderful celebration meal; everything went right !  We didn't feel too thirsty after the meal either , which means they didn't heavily rely on MSG and the tastiness was based on skill !  As we used a coupon, the meal wasn't too expensive, though it would be if we didn't .  Next time we have something to celebrate, this place would be on our list !…Read More

Chicken Factory has been growing rapidly recently , with branches popping out everywhere across Hong Kong !  I decided to try for myself, whether it was tasty or not that it became so popular !  The branch I went to was quite hidden, with a small doorway inside of another restaurant of which I assume is owned by the same company (the same company owns this place as Cafe 100% with the disappointing mixian  ...), quite hard to find !I ordered a tea set with a Deep-fried Chicken Leg, Roasted Vegetables and a drink, which I chose Soybean Milk.The Chicken Leg came in deep fried with spices put inside a paper bag .  The outside crust of the chicken was quite flavourful with the spices and crunchy too , though the meat inside was quite dry and tasted like refrigerated meat , not the best experience...  As I didn't want to directly use my hands to eat, I asked some staff for some utensils  .The Roasted Vegetables might have actually been the best dish !  They were roasted quite even with some spices and butter .  All of the vegetables were quite crunchy and tangy , which was quite a special taste and texture for vegetables !  One downside, though, was that they were quite dry after roasting , but the taste and texture had definitely made up for it !The Soybean Milk came in a bottle with a cap , which is quite wasteful and bad for the environment; I would have preferred non-one-time use cups .  The Soybean Milk was quite rich in soybean flavour and thick , though it felt kind of too sweet .  One thing that disgusted me a bit though, was the opening of the bottle where you drink from; I found a fingerprint !  I would have thought they would wear gloves to produce food at a restaurant ?  It was quite unhygienic and I drank from the other side .In conclusion, it was a tea meal of average quality, and the food was definitely not too fresh , although I would have expected frozen food when I ate at a fast food place outside .  The fingerprint was not acceptable, showing the hygiene level of this restaurant is not high !  The food made me feel a bit queasy too , after eating, which I suppose they added plenty of MSG !  I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon .…Read More

I have a lot of memories at Cafe 100% , including one which was my first time trying a bowl of mixian I liked when I was young , which was at their Ming Tak Estate branch a long time ago .  One day, I decided to try the same bowl of mixian again and see if the taste had changed a lot already or not .  I went to their branch at Nan Fung Plaza, and we were quickly seated at a sofa seat as it was teatime during a weekday !Upon being served, I already noticed a big difference: the bowl was no longer the deep, black bowl for noodles , but a much more shallow hybrid of a bowl and a plate ...  I prefer the old more as it gave more of eating a bowl of noodles at a cha chaan teng feeling; this new one doesn't have that much of that feel anymore .Anyway, I dug in .  The broth was still the same, milky white with a bit of fish taste , and the fish cakes were still in a triangle shape, as I remember , and they were pretty chewy, too, with a fish taste, good !  The mixian, however, let me down a lot .  Every strand of noodle was broken up and, therefore, very short and hard to eat , and what made it even worse was that it was so soft with no chewy texture at all Making it feel like baby food!  Not good at all !It's pretty challenging bearing to see the place which brought me into my journey with mixian , fall like this.  Sure, the fish cakes are still up to standard , but the mixian, the main character, has gone wrong, which ruins everything !  I will soon go to another branch of Cafe 100% of Tao Yuen to see if it's just this specific shop's problem or not …Read More

One night, I came here for dinner . I ordered their Hainanese Chicken Rice , which I originally didn't have high hopes , but in the end... The chicken was aboslutely fantastic ! The skin was kind of chewy , and the meat was tender . It matched so much with the Chicken Soy Sauce and Ginger Oil ! If Maxim MX's Hainanese Chicken Rice is good, then this is extremely scrumptious Chicken !The rice was really good also , each granule separated from each other ! It was also seasoned well and had a good pale golden colour .The meal came with a soup of the day . For that day, it was a White Fungi, Corn and Meat soup . It tasted good , the white fungi was chewy and the meat had a good mix of lean and fat !This was an absolutely delicious meal ! Everything was just... boom ! Food Fiesta is a food court in apm, located where it used to be cookedDeli by c!ty'super . cookedDeli used to have great food, but closed in early 2021 . Will Food Fiesta be any better ?Food Fiesta has completely changed the interior , cookedDeli used to have white plastic chairs and had a darker tone . Food Fiesta changed the chairs into a more comfortable type of plastic chairs , along with a brighter interior ! I think Food Fiesta had made the right choice to completely change the interior !I ordered Udon with Fried Chicken, from the Oreyu kiosk . The udon was chewy, similar to al dente for pasta ! The shipjack tuna broth was very clear and had a good colour , fitted the udon amazingly well . The toppings were very nice too , but the only thing I would pick is the kombu, which was too hard .Along comes the Fried Chicken. Three big chunks came on a small plate . I thought that the chicken was quite juicy , but the skin with a golden brown colour was a bit too hard ; the type of crispness was the hard type .In conclusion, the food was nice, especially the udon ! I haven't ate fast food steak for too long that I've already forgotten what it tasted like . On that day, there was a golden opportunity for me to remember it again !I have ordered Steak from New Zealand with black pepper sauce, Pastry Onion Soup ! The steak comes on a sizzling metal plate , along with some onions, half a tomato and a corn on a cob . Of course, the Steak was your usual cha chaan teng/fast food type, which I already expected and don't mind . The meat is generally soft and easy to eat , though I can taste they have put a lot of baking soda to have that effect ... It came on good with the sauce, which was quite spicy . The onions were not fully cooked, as the waiters just put them on raw on the sizzling plate , but as the plate is very hot (hence the name), it does get cooked for a bit , which gave it a good balance between soft and crunchy ! They also were a good match with the pepper sauce !The tomato half was juicy and soft , the tangy flavour matched the grilled taste very well !The Onion Soup wasn't as well as everything else, though . There was barely any onion taste , and for some reason it tasted like medicine ? The only good part was the pastry was crispy enough.In conclusion, this was a good steak meal ! Ate dinner here one night because I had something to do around Admiralty (also had the chance to ride the East Rail Line Cross Harbour Extension) . Originally, I wanted to eat can.teen but that was closed , and the other options don't seem great to me . So, I landed in this McDonald's concept store, McDonald's Next !I had the Cheesy Champignon Angus Burger ("Burger") . I found the ingredients to match the others really well , the onions elevated the texture , the romaine lettuce made it fresh , and the mushrooms were tasty . Everything went really well !With the meal came French Fries . Well, they were the usual stuff, nothing special . The salt and seasoning was not evenly sprikled on different pieces .Same as the French Fries, the Chicken McNuggets were the usual stuff , though at least the seasoning was evenly spread .In conclusion, the stuff that I had were the usual McDonald's stuff , there is nothing special about this concept store except that you can make your own burger , and the design (even though the McDonald's at Cityplaza has a similar design) . So if anything else is open here at Admiralty, you should eat that too .…Read More

After having dinner at Jade Garden with friends , we decided to have dessert at this Häagen-Dazs nearby .I wanted to have the Rasperry Sorbet, but it was sold out ,so I tried out another sorbet, the Lemon Sorbet .The Lemon Sorbet was pearl white, served a cup . It was very cold, therefore refreshing, especially after dinner . It tasted quite like lemon , but was too sour, so it would have been better if they added a bit more sugar .It was a good dessert . Everything was very nice , except the fact that the Lemon Sorbet was too sour . The seats were comfortable too , so I would come back in the future , though my first choice would be the Raspberry Sorbet.…Read More

I had came here for tea one day . I saw that their linguine in tomato broth with steak was economic and seemed was stuff that I like, so I ordered it !After some time, the meal finally came . It looked delicous, and it kind of was ! The tomato broth had tomato cubes inside , though it was a little too sweet , and the linguine was soft and easy to eat . But, what would you expect? It was below 40 dollars !The steak was okay too . It was soft with a good balance of lean and fat meat, but seemed like fast food quality . I was on a hurry that day , therefore, I just decided to have a quick meal . McDonald's and KFC doesn't seem too healthy , I've had Super Super already (yes, the Beef Ho Fan time ) and there's nothing else, except MX . Fairwood has curry. Cafe De Coral has baked pork chop with rice. MX doesn't really have a signature according to my memory , though I guess they recently chosen Hainanese Chicken Rice as their signature dish ? So I chose that .The chicken looked nice , and it tasted great ! The skin was chewy, and the meat was tender and just fully cooked . With the ginger paste, it was an awesome dish . Before the chicken, I had the Chicken Broth Rice, which is like Hainanese Chicken's girlfriend . They are always served together, side by side . Anyway, it seemed very good ! But, it didn't seem that good anymore after the Chicken . But nevertheless, it was a flavourful and good rice 😍!I also had a cup of Red Bean Fizzy for my drink . It was average , the red bean paste being liquid enough and the evaporated milk being like milk+water .It was a great meal that suprised me ! It's early off day again ! I've always wanted to eat Genki, though often there was a long queue and there was not enough time . Since I'm off early today, I can wait how long I want ! So therefore, I stood outside the restuarant for like an hour or so to wait for my turn to go in .I ordered three sushis and some other stuff , but I won't be covering the other stuff.The first one that came via the train was the Shrimp Tempura Sushi . The shrimp was very crunchy, though it's crunchy because it's very hard . The sushi rice was quite soft (should be harder) , though I liked the sauce which was a good touch .Next came the Grilled Eel sushi . I hoped that it would be better, and it was ! The fish was soft and had that "grilled" flavour to it , though the rice is still soft like the Shrimp Tempura Sushi .After some other stuff came, the Cod Sushi came . It was a limited time item, therefore I had to try it , and same as the other two sushis, it had the same sauce spread on it . The rice, as usual, was soft . The fish, however, was not good ! It was not soft , and there sides were literally unchewable . If I come back and this is still here, it would not be on my to-eat list .This was probably my worst Genki Sushi visit , the food was not up to standard, especially the Cod Sushi ! I came here to eat lunch. Luckily, there were many seats unlike usual , therefore I was quickly seated on a comfortable seat .I ordered their Five Spiced Beef Ho Fan, along with a plate of Stir Fried Noodles . The food came almost immediately after I ordered it, very efficient !First, I ate the Ho Fan . The noodles itself was cooked in clear broth , and the heavily marinated beef and some garnish . The noodles were soft and not "sludgy" at all , while it has a bit of a rice flavour . Next, I tried the beef. It was tender and spicy , but the spicyness didn't cover the "five spices" flavour, which I find to be a great mix !After I was done with the Ho Fan, I tried the Stir Fried Noodles . It's colour looked good, not as dark as a tree bark nor as light as rice . It's taste was good, just any normal Stir Fried Noodles , though the bean sprouts was crunchy and elevated the texture of the whole thing !The whole meal was quite good . I was (once again) shopping at Plaza Hollywood, but I started to get hungry , so I found this Cantonese restaurant, there wasn't much people waiting so I went inside .My impression of their service was already bad once I went in . No one gave clear instructions about where I should sit , so I had to find a seat myself and asked the staff whether I can sit there . Initially, the staff member told me that I could sit there, though another staff member came and told me that I couldn't . Miscommunication? Anyway, I found another seat and the staff told me I can sit there .The first dish that came was the Bread Stick one . It came wrapped in Rice Roll and some Spring Onions and Dried Mini Shrimp were sprinkled ontop . The Bread Stick was not crunchy at all , and the Rice Roll did not have a rice flavour . But the Spring Onions and Shrimp gave a great flavour to it .After a long time, the Siu Mai came . It was very hot and steaming, and I had to wait for it to cool down before I could take a bite . When I took a bite, it was very flavourful, with the umami flavour . It had a great texture too, the shrimp was very chewy .The Har Gow came with the Siu Mai . It was even more hot and significantly had more steam being emitted ! The shrimp, same as the Siu Mai, was chewy, though it was less umami . One weekday, I've decided to come here to eat lunch . As it was a weekday, we were quickly seated into a carseat for six, even though I only had one companion .The dish was just phenomenal . It came with a slice of garlic bread and a few broccoli . The pasta was cooked until it was perfectly soft , while the chicken was soft and juicy , while not overcooked or undercooked . The sauce was great too, it was very savoury, not too spicy nor flavourless . The crust of the garlic bread was crunchy, while the inside was soft , and the garlic spread was tasty too .I would like to eat this dish again , it was delicious and the restaurant was quite nice too ! But it is a bit pricey, though luckily my companion had was a member, therefore we got to savour this dish in half price .…Read More
