Went there on a Saturday night and ordered the teppanyaki + sukiyaki set, for a price of $780 for two, there were 15 very thinly sliced beef / pork, the beef was almost 90% fat and not edible at all, the egg for teriyaki was a local egg that didn’t taste fresh. It’s the price of hotel dinner buffet (or even higher) so really depends what you like. This place serves unlimited fresh oysters, king crab legs, lobsters, mud crabs that were all very fresh, much better than hotel buffet quality. There are rules to observe in order to fully enjoy this place. You gotta be on time, picking sushi with your hands the Araki way, try to eat them as soon as it arrives in front of you for optimal temperature. It’s definitely not cheap and not a place you can always easily go back, but would be a good life experience to try what is really top notch sushi, both the ingredients and the way the sushis were pressed. Finally dinner is allowed! As we all love crabs so that’s the place to go. Their price increases quite substantially compared to the old Wanchai location though. Ordered the $1980 set with three different kinds of crabs, actually steam is still the best way to enjoy fresh crabs and it’s succulent with size satisfaction too. With dinner still banned, this Sunday lunch menu is especially precious and enjoyable. On a sunny afternoon this weekend menu is highly recommended. Besides the famous Grissini they serve (which are always fresh and warm that most tables would finish them all), the starters were generous with good variety, including the popular veal with tuna sauce that’s rich and soft! Burrata and tomatoes were so fresh that reminded me of Italy too. On the main the clay pot chicken is also highly recommended. The tenderly cooked chicken rich in morel mushroom sauce made it really comparable with many famous roast chickens in town so for this brunch price, it’s definitely worth it. Venturing to a new place recommended by a friend. It’s a cozy small sushiya, since dinner is no longer allowed, we tried lunch. Quite happy with the quality and the generous portion, for this price at lunch I think it’s a good choice in Sheung Wan conveniently located.The sardine is in season so it’s the best piece out of all, while the ankimo was a bit too dry hidden under fried seaweed. Saw this new shop that doesn’t do takeaways at the initial stage, ordered one rice noodle with soup and one without. The beef soup was oily, quite bland, for a shop that emphasises on rice noodles this is disappointing. The other one with chili chicken, it should go much better with rice, the noodles simply tasted nothing with no sauce, so overall quite a undeserving mi xian place. Probably one of the best buffets recently. Started with free flow bubbles, there aren’t too many choices of food but each one is done properly. Freshly chucked oysters definitely took a lot of space in my stomach, good quality and kept flowing without any queue needed. Other seafood like crab legs and lobster claws were pleasant. Main courses I like the Thai and Malaysian dishes, spicy enough and done well. Chinese soup definitely must have!
