I heard so much about this little local snack store and I took the chance to visit it once I was in the neighbourhood.Once I had located the store (it wasn't difficult, since it seems that there is always a line from the shop to around the corner), I jumped into the queue directly. I couldn't believe that the price was soooo cheap
My order of cheung fan, fish balls, fish sieuw mai and beef ball was only HKD 12.5.
I took my order to a nearby park and ate it on a bench. Although the cheung fan has not a lot of substance, it tasted extremely fresh. Just dip it into the sauce and savour it. I did not much like the fish balls, they were not that chewy and average lacking in spices. Normally I am not big on fish sieuw mai (I prefer meat) but these ones were surprisingly tasty. The beef ball was not out of the ordinary, I believe they put in a lot of starch which made the beef ball bouncy and a bit powdery. Never the less, I liked that there were some bits of water chestnut in the beef ball.
Definitely there are other places like Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei where you can get a nice mix of local snacks, but they can't beat the price at Mr. 4 Eyes.
